Welcome to the world of join the dots cooking!
Imagine a cooking device that lets you pressure cook in the usual way. Now imagine that it comes with a book with 150 or so recipes with ingredients for up to 6 people, but no instructions! Then imagine it also has a free smartphone app which has shopping lists and suggestions for meals like tonight's dinner. Just as a bonus, imagine that the machine itself TELLS YOU how to cook that dinner! Got all that? You have just imagined what the Cook4Me can do!
Cook4Me is a "smart" pressure cooker, so it can do all the things that a pressure cooker does...Read more

A great concept but far too many issues.
Tefal Cook4me+ review.
As a ieatwords Ambassador, I was asked to thoroughly test this product and give an unbiased review, so here is my opinion after careful consideration.
Out of the box its a very impressive, luxurious looking unit indeed, which feels nice to handle. The smooth black piano finish plastic body combined with large gleaming chrome highlights on the lid are just amazing. Im not sure why we humans like shiny things like diamonds, cars and cookers but thats for another time.
It has a very sturdy construction with all locking a...Read more

Good for the simple stuff but foodies beware.
It took us a few days to get started as looked rather imposing and all the safety instructions were a bit scary, but it was actually pretty straight forward and the locking/unlocking mechanism very user friendly. The initial chemical smell with the first use was quite strong and I suggest this be done in a well-ventilated area.
Initial setup:
The dial on the front feels loose and we kept going to touch the display as if it were a touch screen, this was annoying at first, but we got used to it. But it does seem a little old-fashioned and cheap...Read more

Versatile little wonder, especially good for those with limited space or to balance out with traditional cooking
The Cook4me is an electric multi-cooker that not only can roast, cook and steam, it can also be used to cook products such as meat or vegetables under pressure in rapid time. As per the description, it can also cook everything from starters and mains to desserts. In the classic cooking mode, you are able to do gentle cooking, simmering and browning. You can also reheat and keep meals warm.
The handling is quite easy once you get the hang of it. It contains about 150 pre-set recipes that you will get guided through step by step. Every single st...Read more
ep is shown on the display. After using it for a limited time, I can say that I love the versatility, even though the guided cooking is new for me as a self-described hobby chef - as this is quite a contrast to my traditional cooking, which is usually using multiple pots and pans, or a wok and other kitchen utensils. More importantly, I am not even used to using recipes much at all (ha!) and I don't usually shop for ingredients based on recipes, either (since this forces you into buying when things are usually not the cheapest, or it can be challenging to find what you need after choosing a particular recipe). What I normally do instead is buy in bulk the produce in season or what is on special and look for recipes where they can be used, or I simply know what to cook with them. So to combine both cooking concepts, I will need to stay flexible with the recipes. Cooking with this multi-cooker therefore is a completely different set up, which I ended up liking as an alternative to cooking in a more lazy way. The dishes that are coming out of this device are not only a dream in terms of taste, the time savings during the actual cooking is a huge advantage. Simply a great device that will have a permanent place in our kitchen from now on, at least for those days where we don't feel like cooking the traditional way. The Cook4Me+ is well-made and the cooking bowl is wonderfully easy to clean thanks to its Teflon coating. The handling is very simple and almost self-explanatory - but a look in the user manual shows again the full range of what the product can do. The steaming of vegetables is also good for preserving the nutrient content of the food. They came out perfect, not overcooked and not too crunchy!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It's a Keeper!
If at times you have other things you could be doing rather than standing over a stove, or you're keen to save time in the kitchen on occasion, or maybe you don't want to put on a slow cooker all day while you're out, then this product will deliver. I reviewed it as part of the Ambassador's program and these are my thoughts.
AT A GLANCE
Ease of use: 5 stars - Essentially press, press, press and go
Ease of cleaning: 5 stars - The non-stick surface of the bowl seems great for cleaning
Ease of recipes: 5 stars - Simple to follow
Quality of recipes: 5 stars - Delicious so far

How did I live without this?
I’ve just started using my COOK4ME. I am so impressed with the size as when entertaining my family, I wanted to be able to cook for us all, so with the options of cooking for 2, 4 and 6 – this is perfect.
The options to brown and to keep warm are brilliant! I have a slow cooker and never bother browning meat as it means an extra pan, extra time and effort. With the Tefal COOK4ME, I can do it all in one – perfect!
I also love the ‘keep warm’ function with a partner who often works late, its an absolute blessing.

king time by 2/3rds is awesome and the pressure cooking brings out the flavour in the food like nothing else, simple dishes become gourmet events (not exaggerating). Because it's a closed system, you resist the urge to over-season the food and the natural flavours are the star. On opening the box, I was greeted with the Tefal Cook4Me multicooker, a steam basket, the ceramic coated bowl and user manuals. Aesthetically speaking, I really liked the look of the cooker – although it was larger than I expected, the black gloss contrasted really nicely with the metallic detailing to give an appearance that wouldn’t look out of place in a kitchen featured on Grand Designs. I had a quick flick through the booklets – one of which is a user manual and the other has the ingredients with recipes – and everything looked self-explanatory. As we were nearly out of food in the house, we couldn’t make any of the pre-programmed recipes just yet, but instead, we chose a few recipes which we wanted to make in the upcoming week and added these ingredients to our supermarket online delivery.Similar opinion? Handy for busy time poor families
I have used it twice making a potato bake and risotto. Amazing it cooks so quickly. Advertised times don’t take into account the time to preheat cooker and letting steam out at the end. And rather than guesstimating quantities I think you need to stick to exact measures with this machine or risk meal not working out too good it would helpful to have alternative suggestions or additional items that can be added. As long as you have all ingredients set out and measured before you start you will be fine, if you don’t it will be a challenge. Also s...Read more

Not very intelligent for an 'intelligent' pressure cooker
I got this for free. My overall initial impressions were good because of the features and options to store your own recipes. The street price is in the low to mid $300 mark. My expectations were high due to the high price. I already had a history of cooking with pressure cookers and rice cookers that span 30 years plus. Previous pressure cookers required fiddling and testing to get the recipe right, i.e. for it not to be under or over cooked. Once you get those parameters right, it works all the time.
The good thing is that the pot inside the ...Read more
cooker has handles to remove the pot. Most other pressure cookers don't have this feature. When opening the lid, the mechanism is conveniently located away from the steam release valve. Great for avoiding scalds. The pre-installed programs appeared 'useful' at the time. As my wife is Asian, we have high expectations when cooking rice. Ideally, it should be moist but not wet, mushy or soggy. My first recipe was white rice. I followed the instructions. I turned out mushy and soggy. On my second time cooking rice, I reduced the water content a little but the rice was still fully covered. An alarm went off telling me that a valve was clogged and then that there wasn't enough water in the machine (see image CODE: 24). How can it be clogged after only one use? Next time, I put more water in it but extended the cooking time to make sure the rice wasn't soggy and mushy. Over time, I achieved various results. Some were acceptable while others were not. My old rice cooker has one button and my rice is always perfect. With the Tefal, it was a hit and miss... more miss though. I successfully cooked pasta but thought that the hassle of setting up and then cleaning the device was far more cumbersome than quickly boiling water in a pot on my stove top. The glitz and glamour of having to press and turn the navigation button soon lost its shine. This afternoon, I made rice once again. When the device had finished, I couldn't open it. It was stuck. I have no idea why. I finally managed to open it with some force. Now it won't close. The rice was fine but it appears that parts in the lid have twisted due to the heat. According to the manual, parts in the lid can twist when hot. Not such a good design after all. In summary, the programs, at least for rice, are useless. The mechanical side is poorly constructed. How can it be clogged after just one use? Why is the lid defective? I am not the sort of person who will run to customer service every few days because of a problem. Either it works or it doesn't. This one doesn't. I'm going back to my hassle-free rice cooker and hassle-free pressure cooker.1 comment

Fantastic machine EXCEPT it’s peeling and under a year old.
I love it, but the customer service is terrible. My mother purchased and gifted me my machine. Sadly she died and Tefal won’t help me with my warranty claim because I can’t provide a receipt. I offered to provide them my mother’s death certificate, but not good enough. Very poor service in such a terrible time. Show a bit of compassion, Tefal. I would obviously provide a receipt or proof of purchase if my mother were here to ask. The machine hadn’t even been released for a year yet, before I contacted the company, so it was definitely within it...Read more
’s 12 month warranty period. I’m a huge advocate on social media for the c4m and c4m+ but it’s a shame they’ve treated this case so poorly. These are some of the dishes I’ve made in my c4m machines. Such a shame the silver part on top has bubbled and peeled in the newer model.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic kitchen appliance.
Great for winter warmer recipes. Stews soups, pasta, cheesecake. Perfect risottos every time. 6L capacity ideal for leftovers. Very happy with this product. Saves lots of time, just like slow cooked recipes but only way quicker.

No slow cooking function
I bought this appliance expecting it to perform the full range of functions from slow cook to fast (pressure) cook. It doesn't! because it doesn't slow cook. I'm now looking for another appliance equivalent to the One Pot in the USA which can do everything and not sure what I will do with the Cook4me. Disappointed.

Cant live without this cooker .
Easy to use, over 150 built in recipes, cooks then keeps food warm for hours, doesn't get hot so even teens can use it safely. Is very easy to clean, bowl is dishwasher safe. Only downside doesn't come with a recipe book but can be downloaded. I had the previous model and upgraded to have more recipes.

Not worth the money
I used to love this machine, I will admit when this does work it works well.

Very disappointed with it.
Issues I've had with it

- Resets in cooking mode
- Takes forever to preheat

Review by someone who doesn't know how to cook! 3 to 4 stars depending on what your expectation is
This review is coming from someone who doesn't do any cooking (other than instant noodles - but I've been known to overcook them even!) I think there are enough reviews by people who know what they're doing in the kitchen! So here's my take.
First impressions, definitely large and impressively imposing with it's glossy red and silver appearance. Looked like some sort of robot. Maybe that's not the ideal criteria for assessing cooking tools but for a newbie like me, that got my attention right out of box!
It looked simple enough to clean ...Read more
with it's smooth finishes and non-stick pot, and easily disassembled lid. The controls knob and menu looked simple enough to navigate - albeit with really annoying and tinny sounds reminiscent of early mobile phones - strange for a modern appliance. Thankfully, there is an option to switch off all the extra electronic audio bells and whistles. Some of the marketing and existing reviews seem to tout this as an ideal cooker for those who don't know how to cook. It would seem that way with about 150 recipes built into the unit which you can follow step-by-step, starting with the quantity of ingredients (you choose how many people it's intended to serve). But in practice, you ideally should know some basics of food preparation as I found out. First attempt was at a pumpkin risotto dish. It seemed easy enough to follow it step-by-step on the screen since we had pumpkin, and, being a Chinese household - plenty of rice. But for a newbie like me, I didn't know how fine you were supposed to dice up the ingredients. You're also supposed to use arborio rice but we had a medium grain rice from Sun Rice (later I learned from looking up other risotto recipes that you shouldn't wash the rice to maintain a creamy consistency - something that we were brought up to always do - wash your rice! Perhaps it's not as necessary with clean Aussie rice?)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fast cooking instead of fast food
Two things stand out with the Tefal Cook4Me.
1. It's so easy to operate that you don't need to read a heavy manual. You do need to read the initial instructions though but from there on you just follow what the display says.
2. Speed. This is not just an automatic cooker with an electronic cook book, it's an automatic steam cooker. You get a decent meal in the table in 20 minutes - less time it takes to get some take away (and since you control the quality of the ingredients, it'll be much better food to)
It's perfect when you don't have...Read more
much time to cook and also for those who have little experience in cooking or simply don't like cooking otherwise. Also good to learn cooking, there is really no experience needed. I hope it will get some people away from all that fast food and greasy take away dependence. It's not really meant for gourmet cooking, but even master chefs will find it useful as a smart pressure cooker. Cleaning is very easy, I hope the non stick coating will last though.Similar opinion? Cooking’s easy with Cook4Me
The Tefal Cook4Me is a bench top kind of “do it all” cooking appliance with a step-by-step instruction based recipe computer attached to the side. It tells you all the ingredients you will need for any given recipe so you can go out and buy and then prep them. Once you have everything ready the Cook4Me guides you through the process of adding which ingredients and when.
The main benefit I can see for this appliance is the potential to introduce the user to a much wider variety of recipes. If you’ve found yourself cooking the same things you...Read more
’ve perfected over and over and never really venturing out, the Cook4Me makes browsing, choosing, and cooking new and different recipes very easy. The other benefit I can see is for people who may not have the strongest skill set in the kitchen, people who find recipe books, coming up with ideas, and cooking from scratch challenging or daunting. My partner for example has no creativity when it comes to cooking and if left to his own devices and a regular saucepan will produce a charred mess. He can cut things up if told which ingredients to prep however, so the Cook4Me takes the guess work and judgement out of the cooking process for him. I’ve never seen him enjoy cooking previously but the novelty of the appliance and the easy instructions means he actually seems to love throwing things in and get cooking with the Cook4Me. If you can chop, pour, stir, and close a lid, then you can cook with the Cook4Me. Once you have mastered some of the basic recipes, then you can get creative with modifying them to your hearts content. I feel the Cook4Me would be a great gift idea for parents to give their sons or daughters when they are leaving home to encourage them to actually cook, or a great investment for a busy family where providing meals needs to be as time saving simple and effortless as possible.Similar opinion? A bit frustrating
I was sent this as a part of the Product Ambassador Program, asking me for an honest review.
On opening the box, I did think it was rather large, so takes up a large amount of real estate. However, as I already own a small pressure cooker, it is handy to have a larger one. The manual also tells you not to use it under an overhead cupboard, because of the steam, which rather limits (in my kitchen) where one can use it. I ended up putting a chopping board over the gas burners of my cooktop and used it there with the overhead exhaust going. No...Read more

Handy little device that generally works well
I was sent this as a part of the Product Ambassador Program.
Generally, my wife and I love to cook. We have two young kids, so finding the time to do that cooking can be difficult. The Tefal Cook4Me+ came at the right time for us, and we were very happy to give it a go.
When we opened it, we thought it was pretty big. We've looked at these types of devices in the past, and have found them to be smaller. That means it takes up a fair bit of room on your bench. Our kitchen is a decent size - certainly not small, but we don't have loads of b...Read more
ench space to spare. Our previous apartment was tiny with no bench space, so we would not have been able to use it. We've used similar devices before, and it's always a bit of a learning curve. For our first trial, we simply followed the instructions for one of the built-in recipes. Now, this will reflect more on us than on the machine, but it didn't occur to us to stir the ingredients together before cooking, and that first dish didn't come out well. Since the instructions gave us key info on other steps, we just followed them blindly. But, lesson learned... we soldiered on. The other thing we learned that first time is that the machine doesn't tell you all of the ingredients. There is a companion website for that (Google Tefal Cook4me+ recipes), and I'm sure that's in the manual somewhere, but we looked and didn't see any mention of it. Again, this is perhaps just us being dumb, but with two young kids, time to read manuals in detail is a luxury. Perhaps something like a QR code or similar on the side of the machine that a user can scan to go to that website would be a very welcome addition.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Multi-cooker, Simplified one pot meal preparation.
Tefal Cook4Me+ was provided to me for the purpose of trialing this specific product and submitting an unbiased review under the Product Ambassador Program.
Given the range of available cooking appliances and competition for storage and kitchen bench space, products need to justify their place or quickly become irrelevant, regardless of cost.

Pleasantly surprised - a user friendly pressure cooker
I have always been a little scared of pressure cookers, however after watching numerous shows on the Cook4me + on TVSN this one seemed safer and easier.
The first thing I cooked was the creamy mashed potato. I was really impressed how well it came out. Most pressure cooker mash recipe's get you to just steam the potatoes in the pressure cooker and then add other stuff later.
This one you add the potato, butter, salt and pepper and cream into the machine and cook in the normal bowl and add in the milk once it's done.
The result, amazing mas...Read more

Just bought my tefal cook4me. It is letting steam out the side and mainly the handles is this normal? Otherwise it is great.

I don't think so but i would need to re-check/experiment ....
I think it should release from the vent ..
It's also difficult to gauge, as may depend on the contents.
Eg. Does it always happen across various recipes or just occasionally or maybe on the amount of fluid inside..
But.. it could be a seal issue. Is there any matter stuck on it...
The seal is meant to be replaced 2 yrly or if damaged. And for that it needs to go to a service agent according to the warranty/instructions. :(
(I have never replaced a seal from either this or the other removable seal type machine so far, but I would think the the seal is meant to stop leaking from where you mention. )
It may pay you to actually check with Groupe Seb asap -they're very good over the ph.
It is brand new, have cook 3 meals in it. It does have stem come from the vent as well as the sides. How do I contact Groupe Deb? Thanks for your help.
see at https://www.tefal.com.au/consumer-services/contact-us-m ... But looks like closed on w/ends for ph. ( I just found that the Service no. is also tagged on my cord.)
I'm about to just run mine to max fill with water and watch what happens..... will get back later with result....
Keep using it meanwhile as it will just shut down if it were something dangerous.
Do keep a "diary" of the recipe/s being used so you have more info for your call.
Eg: Whether it has acted the same right from first use or when it started.
Also when exactly the steam is being released: eg before it comes to pressure and starts counting down the recipe time / during the cooking /or at the end of the cook - these will give clues to the Tefal adviser.
It may just come down to there being a lot of water in the recipes being used and therefore "normal".
There also is a chance that one of the vents has something partially blocking (the release holes are tiny)and so the pressure release has to go somewhere else. (I still think that means it's ok in terms of the potential danger of TOO much pressure though.) Thanks for the reply feed back too.

Hi my machine won’t switch on anymore! In the manual of I am reading correctly u are suppose to unscrew kid inside for cleaning
Is this correct as this could be the problem? But how do I do this???? Sorry I did love my machine!
2 answers
Does it come on, in the other settings, that don't need the lid down... if so its NOT a lid clean problem. ie are the classic cooking functions working?
To clean : Yes unscrew the Middle round nut on the inside of the lid to disassemble it from the outer lid. But this is just for ease of handling. It is more important to clean ALL foodstuff from the vent and valve.
Check that the movable rod (the pressure regulating valve i think) with nuts on each side (front and back of inner lid) can actually move as I believe that it is crucial for building pressure in the unit and maybe if it has stuck it may have triggered a sensor shut down (?)
There is a silicon plug on end of that movable valve which can be popped off to remove the rod totally, for cleaning its tiny release hole. (Soaked in hot soapy water).
Also u can unscrew the black metal ball housing at back of inner lid (careful as its hard and heavy if you don't prevent it from dropping!) and then the tiny release vent can be cleaned. (soaked)
It is only a 2 yr (?) warranty so I would not delay in contacting Groupe Seb for advice...

elf as. I am European. I am not offended. My wife is Asian, neither she nor her friends are offended. I only referred to my wife in this review as she eats rice every single day. In fact, we all do, and as such, it was important for this device to cook rice properly and to her and my satisfaction. The email also claimed that I did not conduct a proper review. Even after posting this review, the unit constantly shows error messages. Most recently, it says that it's finalizing the post cooking process although the device has already exceeded the 9 minutes cooking time by 20 minutes. There's no point trying other ingredients or recipes if it can't get rice right. The one successful occasion of cooking pasta was probably a fluke as 80% of the time, the device malfunctions. I don't need to waste precious food to show that there's something wrong with this pressure cooker.
