Difficult way to renew policy
I have 2 investment property landlord and house insurance policy with Terri Scheer for two years. When my policy was due for renewal, they increase a lot even I don't have a successful claim. I had been told to re-register a new policy instead of renew the existing policy to get a cheaper rates. Why they can't just increase a reasonable percentage to help the existing customers to renew their policy easier?

Ridiculous reasons for not honouring contracts after all the money you pay.
We have had the experience from hell with our first tennant who refused to pay rent and damaged our property. It took us several evictions, a tribunal and a sheriff to get her out and we are out of pocket around $4k. Today they told us we arent covered for rental arrears due to a technicality. The manager didnt even call us back after we made a formal complaint. They have no idea what we have been through and we are now in finaincial hardship with our bank. Im getting legal advice and writing to the ombudsmen. This is a joke. Whats the point of doing the right thing.

Loss of rental due to COVID not covered. Yet we still have to pay the mortgage. Not helpful in the least
Apparently COVID is not listed as a covered item so they won’t pay landlords insurance for loss of rental. Not supportive. Not caring. Not in the least bit compassionate or helpful.

Amazing Service
I have a Landlord Insurance policy with Terri Scheer for a self managed holiday rental property. I live on the South Coast of NSW, in an area severely impacted by the bushfires in Dec / Jan 2020. I lodged a claim for loss of rental income, as people were unable to access the area to road closures because of the fires. Terri Scheer could not have been more helpful during the claims process. They requested evidence of my confirmed bookings (with deposits paid) and the total amount I would be out of pocket due to the cancellations. I sent that inf...Read more
ormation through to them and my claim was paid in full, in less that 2 weeks. I have never in the past, had that sort of service from any insurance company. Their understanding of the situation and their consideration of my circumstances was amazing, they are an excellent company. David Batemans Bay NSWSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Avoid at all costs!!!
Lodged a claim In February they keep requesting the same thing over and over and over again despite confirming receipt and that it’s being assessed and straight forward...only to to be asked again and they push back another 7-10 days!

Hard to deal with
Lodged a claim but it takes ages to get a respond. The property was unhabitable but still they want to advertise the property. Text messages has been sent directly to their loss adjuster but no reply. They want to held up all the repairs but not even arranging people or assessor to visit the property until you contacted them. requested again and again same documents.

Avoid Terri Scheer
Terri Scheer go to great lengths to deny claims or to significantly reduce their insurance liability, despite overwhelming evidence of deliberate damage or tenant neglect and supporting documentation. Avoid Terri.

Deceitful. So many loopholes they should be acrobats.
Claim rejected on a very, VERY questionable "loophole".
Tennant's were to pay Fortnightly, which they did and were on time for several months.
BUT when that time comes when you need your insurance, because they stop paying rent...
LOOPHOLE! Apparently the insurance is invalid because the Tennant didn't pay rent within 7 days of moving in (even though rent was to be paid fortnightly), so according to Terri Scheer they were in "arrears" from the start so policy invalid .
If you wonder why claims take so long to process.. it's because they are looking for any questionable loophole to void your claim.
Cancelling all 4 of my policies ASAP.
Advise to stay well away from Terri Scheer.

Money Grabbers
I have just received my landlord insurance renewal notice, with a 26.4% increase in premium and no adequate explanation other than that "they have had a large increase in claims from self-managers". No allowance made for the fact they have had NO claims from me across nearly 10 years, so I am penalised because of others. I am looking elsewhere for a more reasonable company.

Terri Scheer will fight tooth and nail to reject your claim.
We have two rentals, both with Terri Scheer. Our first ever claim due to tenant damage has been a nightmare, TSI have done everything they can to reject the claim.

No value
Tried to make a small claim for damage caused by a tenant, after years paying insurance premiums to Terri Sheer. They declined on technicality and I then found it would be near impossible to ever make a successful claim with them, so cancelled the policy.

Peace of Mind For Investors
Over the years, I've had to lodge a few claims on behalf of clients who were wise enough to have Terri Scheer Landlord Insurance. To date, each claim has been settled appropriately and my clients have not been disappointed. As long as the right documents are provided to support the claim, each claim has been processed and paid out in a timely fashion. Of course, one has to allow for delays as a result of holidays or major disasters, but that would apply to any insurer.

Waste of Money
Our investment property became uninhabitable for several weeks in the peak Christmas period and Terri Scheer refuses to cough up despite it being an untenantable property. We forked out thousands from our own pocket to relocate our tenant. Kinda defeats the entire purpose of landlord insurance, wouldn’t you agree?

I was looked after by my Insurer Terri Scheer. In my experience, Terri Scheer is the best Landlord insurance
I was looked after by Terri Sheer. I lodged a claim when my bad tenant left me with more than $18000 worth of damage on a property bearly 4 years old. I was worried at first because it took 4 months to get an answer from Terri Scheer. I thought I'll have to cope with the loss of rent for 4 months on top of the damage. Truth be told I didn't have the right paperwork in order because of Citywide property managers witch in 2 years has not done not even 1 inspection. Terri Scheer could've denied the claim because of that but they didn't. I was comp...Read more
ensated for the repairs and the loss of rent. Communication wasn't great but in the end, Terri Scheer had my back when I was in a dire situation and helped me although they could"ve denied the claim. Note: The insurer can and will recover their payout from the bad tenant. My bad tenant was working and living in Australia. When I had a bad tenant from New Zeland who left me with damage and went back to his country I haven't been paid. BUT my Landlord insurance was not with Terri Scheer. In my opinion if the chance of recovering the payout is high the chance of acceptance of the claim is also high.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrible company to deal with.
I just tried to cancel a landlord policy with this company today. The only way they can refund is back on the original credit card the policy was purchased on. I advised I cancelled that card 6 months ago. Apparently their policy is to refund to that card only, and it's my responsibility to get in contact with the bank to get it back - zero flexibility to send a cheque, conduct a electronic transfer or to change credit card. Bit ridiculous in this day and age.
I've used this company for over a decade and have many properties with them, they h...Read more

Poor Claim Service
We had landlord insurance and unfortunately was required to make a claim. The process went on for a long long time and we were required to provide purchase proof of stolen products that were over a year old. The questions asked and the manner of the person on the claims line was very unprofessional and not empathy was expressed at any time. Very disappointing and we have now cancelled the insurance and gone elsewhere. A claim was finally paid - but well below any replacement value and short of compensating. Be wary !

Honest review of my experience with Terri Scheer landlord insurance
Our tenant left without paying 4 weeks rent, trashed the house including multiple holes in walls and numerous items broken needing replacement such as our clothes line, letter box etc.
I read some terrible reviews about Terri Scheer which set my expectations very low. The claims process is very painful, they request every document imaginable. Once that's complete then you have to break down the costs for every single repair, as specific as 'main bedroom left wall x 2 holes costing $300' and so on.
After completing all the requested paperwor...Read more
k and having our builder break down his quote, Terri Scheer actually did come through in the end. They charged us just one excess for the entire claim and paid all items that were covered as well as the full amount of rental loss whilst the repairs were being conducted. If you end up needing to make a claim, stick with the claim process (as painful as it is) and document and photograph everything!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Tenant damages insurance benefit is worthless
I lodged a tenant damages insurance claim with Terry Scheer. During the claim process key information about the innsurer's policy is never made available to the agent or the policy holder in any of their communications. Unless strict rules are followed the claim will fail. Do not buy landlord insurance from this company. Save and invest the premiums for when you need it. Terry Scheer will not assist you with your claim in any way, even by advising you that after all it will never be successful because the rules were not followed. They will how...Read more
ever keep asking you for documents even those you have already sent. The bottom line is that they require you or your agent to take your tenant to the rental tribunal first to claim tenant damages from the bond, before they will pay a cent. There is also an excess which is deducted. And then you will need to pay hefty tribunal fees to your agent unless you represent yourself. Adding all these costs up you will get almost nothing for claims less then $1500 even in the unlikely event your claim is accepted by Terry Scheer. So much for the tenant damages insurance protection. Savy tenants and cagey agents will further obstruct you. The very best thing you can do then is to be self represented at the tribunal without your insurer or your agent acting for you. I am now cancelling all my Terry Scheer policies. I would rate it less than one star if possible. I have since launched a tribunal case against the tenant.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

@terry Scheer Rep, We are currently awaiting news on our claim which was caused by excessive water, our tenants have broken lease, we need to try and release, but will not be able to do this until works are complete. Ultimately the longer it takes to fix the longer it will remain untenanted. We tried your 1800 number and it not busy or a message to say there is to many callers, just that you cannot call from your current area?? What is going on?

Do not insure anything with these guys....I’ve been on hold for an hour dealing with a matter that is over a month old. The agent said she’d just ask a quick question...another 20 minutes and I’m still on hold. They’re a joke...
