Not worth a star. Will never recommend to anyone looking for a Land Lord Insurance. Very deceptive Insurance company.
Terri scheer like to collect the premium on time but when you lodge a claim they have all the reasons in the world to decline your claim. Really very cunning Insurance company. Stay away.

Customer service woeful
Sold property and tried to claim a refund from TS for policy.
On hold for 30+ minutes so gave up...perhaps that's the point.
Seems my price hikes didn't get invested in the customer service team.
Hi Drew thanks for getting in touch. I did finally get through to a rep and received good prompt service. Long wait times are not great, perhaps TS could implement a call back option?
Appalling, choose someone else
Over 2 years, there has been a 60% increase of my policy cost with no explanation.
Chose another provider for a more reasonable price, and now I’m being hounded by Terri Scheer about my unpaid policy. I have called them, and they require a signed form by both parties on the insurance. I now own the property by myself, and not possible to get the other person’s signature.
I was fully identified on the policy, but still no.
Agent was passive-aggressive, and said “well, if you can’t get the other person’s signature, then let the policy lapse ...
Read morethen”..... sure, no problems, I’m just letting you know to cancel the policy so you can stop sending me unnecessary emails, but sure. I would HIGHLY recommend you consider another insurance provider, and avoid Terri Scheer at all costs.30% price hike after first premium
30% price hike after first premium on multiple properties I have insured. No wonder they offer cheap prices initially if they are just going to raise them as soon as possible.

Setting yourself up for failure, may as well not insure
Service is crap and couldn't recommend it to anybody. unreliable and untrustworthy team. unmotivated company that solely is there to make as much money as possible for themselves without the use of resources. I honestly don't know how these guys get away with stealing.

Exorbitant price hike
Have been with Terri Scheer for 2 years with our landlord insurance. Made no claims...even through Covid. Small annual price increases one would expect however received the renewal this year and the premium had gone up by almost 55%!! How is that justified? Will not be renewing this year.

I don't agree with all the negative reviews!
Despite having two sets of tenants in a row who did damage, Terri Scheer did not put the premiums up. Indeed they were well in their rights to have refused us insurance after that. One lot of tenants were chosen by a Real Estate agent, and chose the next lot myself which worked for 18 months then turned pear shaped when the tenants split up, and one of them trashed the place. There were excesses to pay, but the rent arrears for the second tenant was looked after once the bond was exhausted and we had to get the bailiff in. Did not cover all the...
Read more repairs due the excess clause, but the insurance helped me get out of jail financially when stuck in a nightmare. Your experience depends on yourself to a degree, having all the right documentation, and having your own tradies do the repair work also helped enormously. This got the repairs completed faster and probably cheaper than if Terri Scheer did it themselves, so it was reciprocal, reducing the amount of the claim by being a bit savvy helped them too!Related Articles

Excellent claim process
This was my first investment property and the very first tennant. The tanent was paying rent on time for the first few months and after that irregularities kicked in. Throw in the Covid-19 and morotorium on eviction for 6 months, I was having a very bad experience. Throughout the journey, I rang Terri Scheer and informed them about my situation. They kept note of all my phone calls. Earlier in January, the court finanally order the tenant to vacate the property at which time they hadn't paid their rent for 3+ months and few water bills. ...
Read moreNot only that, they damaged the property. I lodged my claim with all the relevant documents and receipts. As all the documents were in order, the claim was settled within 7 business days and I am not left out of pocket. Throughout the process, the person I was dealing with was extremely professional and was understanding of my circumstances. I read the PDS and made sure that everything was done in a right manner. Overall I was very satisfied with the experience which otherwise would've been a nightmare for a first time investor with their first tenant. Thank you TS. Please keep up the good work.- 17 reviews

They do not pay
I had a landlord policy . Lj Hooker let tenants damage my property, breed rats, smoke dope and flood the apartment. I was devastated to see my new apartment destroyed and Terri Sheer would not pay.

Prices hiked after first premium
There is no alternative to Terri Scheer at the moment, so I am purchasing again. However, I was very disappointed with the recent 30% rise in the premium for another property's renewal.

The worst, may as well not have insurance
I had landlord protection insurance and building insurance for my investment property. After the tenant vacated, there was water damage on the floor behind the washing machine. This falls directly under the "release of water" coverage offered. It was assigned to a loss adjuster, who arranged to come out two weeks after my claim, cancelled ten minutes before he was scheduled to arrive, then rescheduled a few days later and showed up 50 minutes late.
After the loss adjuster inspected I heard nothing for five weeks. Then it was assigned to a bui...
Read morelder. He came out quickly and left. I heard nothing again for another month. This is two months my property had been sitting there empty. They purposely drag their feet and force you to fix it yourself to get a tenant back in, then reject your claim because they couldn't ascertain when the damage came from from two separate visits because you didn't wait another month for them to arrange another visit. It takes them three months to investigate a damaged floor from a leaky washing machine. The only decent service I got from them was when I called up to cancel all my policies.Refusing to accept a branch fell on shed and made water damage.
Still several months having to fight what I thought would be a simple, cut n dry claim.
A large branch fell on a shed.
Left a gaping hole for rain to come in.
Damaged goods inside.
Claim refused.
Terri Scheer have made several mistakes in the claims process.

Horrendous Process. Don't USE at ALL. <BEWARE>
Trying to get a claim has been a cancerous nightmare:
They are very calculative of every penny. We had to get walls repainted and repaired after viscous damage was applied to them. (not wear and tear). They wanted a breakdown cost for each wall and the cost available to repair parts of the wall. My apartment was almost destroyed and they didn't care at all. They didn't even want to send an assessor out to have a look at it. After this we will not be using TS for anything but a learning lesson in life.
It's taken a few months just to get a few dollars from them. We have lost thousands.

Very calculating insurer. Beware.
My tenants flooded my unit by filling a bucket in the sink then leaving the apartment. Unfortunately for me the bamboo floor was glued onto the concrete slab so my claim was rejected. If I could prove that the damage was malicious they would have paid.
Is that bizarre?
How could I possibly prove that the damage was malicious ? And how can TS prove it wasn’t ?
There is an advertisement on TV where a girl left the bathroom tub water on and it flooded. This would imply that you would be covered for accidental water damage. This is false. TS won’t ...

Your representatives have made it crystal clear regarding the outcome of my claim. I hardly think that wasting more of my time with Terri Scheer/Suncorp is going to change that decision.

Left us with no insurance
These muppets failed to send renewal paperwork and after being uninsured for 2 months let us know the policy had been cancelled. What a crap show. Taking a policy with these incompetent clowns is the same as being not insured
Hi Darren, thanks for leaving a review. It's disappointing to hear that your paperwork wasn't received which left your property uninsured. Please feel free to email me with your policy details to [email protected]. Thanks -Ollie
I called and to be honest sorry doesn't cut it. The complete failure from Terri Sheer left my property with NO INSURANCE for 6 weeks. This is a disgrace to let this happen. No one should ever trust a business that can't get the basics correct

Beware!
During the COVID crisis Terri Scheer did not accept any liability to indemnify me as a landlord who had tenants unable to pay rent. As a result, I cancelled three other policies I had with Terri Scheer. I will never insure with them again.

Feels unreliable.
I brought Terri Scheer building and landlord insurance this financial year. I was expecting to receive insurance certificates but did not arrived. Had to call them twice in separate occasions In duration of two months for it to finally come through email. This does make me question their reliability and their transparency because every other insurance in my experience would send you certificate right after payment.

We were rejected on a payout because we did not take the policy out at the beginning of the tenancy!! Yep correct folks, they have a clause that states the policy must be taken out at the beginning of a new lease, or a heap of clauses can be applied.
We bought 4 policy's with them at once. One Tennant has defaulted some months later, left some damage. We moved them out and now because we did not buy the cover on the day they signed a lease, the policy does not apply?? What a cop out!
embargo on Victorians!!!
Refused LL insurance eventhough I've been using them since 2007. Never again will I ever go with this Company. Neither should any Victorians. Clearly you are NOT in this togeather!! I will never have anything to do with your company. Brand Damaged!!!
Hi Johann, it's disappointing to hear of your recent experience with us. If there's anything I can do to assist you further, please feel free to send through your policy/claim number to [email protected] -Ollie
Hi Ollie, Thanks for takeing the time to reach out. I do not want to claim. I just simply had a tenant move into my property and would have like to be able to just get LL insurance like I have done many other times with TS in the past since 2007
Terrible service after 5 years
I’ve been with Terri scheer for 5 years and have had 4 properties with them, I called to renew and they’ve upped their premium three times the amount with no explanation and when questioned got “because we can, and I don’t think I can go into that” as a response!!
Have pulled all 4 properties from them! Called to cancel and wasn’t even asked for a reason as to why I was leaving
They’re taking advantage of the current situation and being Money hungry, very disappointed
Hi Danielle, thanks for your review. It's disappointing that you weren't provided assistance with the renewal. Please feel free to send me your policy number to [email protected] -Ollie

Crap insurance, will take your money and cop out on minor claims
Go with any other reputable insurance don’t pick this for your landlord insurance. Long waits on phone, nil assistance with claims. They just take your money and fob you off for small claims.
It's disappointing that you've had a terrible experience with us. We'd like to look into this matter further for you. Please feel free to email us your policy and claim details to [email protected]. Thanks -Ollie
Terrible
We lodged a claim for storm on our landlord policy after the February storms in NSW only to be told that the claim was denied as there were 3 rusty nails that had let water into the property. We knew the cl;aim for the roof would not be accepted but no acceptance for the resultant damage. Poor customer contact from the claims team and customer relations. Now going to AFCA. Keep clear of this insurer.
Short term stay insurance
My short term stay insurance which includes ‘ rental loss ‘ was not even look at when the COVID crisis came along. Other insurance companies paid out, BUT NOT Terri sheer, NEVER again.
DONT TRUST THEM

Don‘t buy Terri Scheer!
My shower screen door has been accidentally damage by tenant in Jun, Terry Scheer landlord insurance doesn’t cover for glass of building when you claim, even it was sum contents/buildings$60,000 when you purchased policy. It is misleading or tricky insurance. Don't believe what they said. This policy is worth nothing and waste money. And take 2-3 weeks to get response. Don’t waste time to bother them, you will lost Tenant and lost more money....

Most dishonest company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with
This company constantly lies, lies and lies to policy holders, they do not honor their policies at all, and cause extreme distress on home owners, because Terri Scheer refuse to do their job, they refuse to pay claims and they have forced us to wait for 7 months of no rent at all, entirely due to the total incompetence of Terri Scheer, and a full government and media investigation is urgently needed. The shockingly bad bad bad service from Terri Scheer is directly denying us of an income, and putting us under suicidal financial stress, as all t...
