Has anyone bought one from ebay? Are thermomix from Spain the same quality as that bought in Australia?
Yes I know two people that bought from Spain. Both have had terrible experiences. One received a cockroach infested machine and paid more than she saved having it fixed. The other has found it impossi...
Read moreble to get any service from the seller, who claims to have a repair place here, but does not. My advice, buy from Australia and you'll get the cookbook and terrific service. And whatever other offer have on. It's a brilliant product, you'll never regret it, the cost will not even be on your mind when you use it.Thank you for the advice. I have just bought one from a consultant in Australia. The service and warranty are too important to be missed!
Thermomix worldwide are the same quality. There is a big price difference between some countries. Guarantees are not transferable between countries. I sell Thermomix in the UK and quite often have ...
Read moreAustralian customers visiting London for a holiday, and attend my public demonstration and buy from me, and take back in their hand luggage. They are warned that their UK warranty is not valid in Australia, but for some the price saving is more important. Thethermoqueen
I have one very simple question. If this unit was so good, then why does not one retailer stock it in a shop? Surely if its so great, they would be selling like hot cakes.
Like Tupperware it is direct selling only
Hi, i thinki can answer that. It is sold by direct selling so you get a very personal service. retail shops just could not provide that level of ongoing service and help. Don't be put off by that, you...
Read more can also book into their classes to have a look if you like. It is sometimes at food shows too. You also get to deal with the supplier so any warranty things don't rely on retail store policies for repairs etc. i guess also you wont find the retailer no longer has it if you want extras. worked well for me.
Hi, they are sold via party plan and I suggest that you put that question to a demonstrator on line - I remember there was an answer but cant quite remember sorry - couldnt help. Cheers
If I had a demonstration in my home and there were sales do you get rewarded in any way. Or is the demonstrator the only one to benefit from the sales?
Yes, when I had my demo - I received a thermo server - which keeps the food warm - also a thermo - mat which you use to let bread prove - They always have something for the host. You should check their website. Thanks
If someone buys at your demo, some demonstrators will give you a Thermoserver for free, otherwise you can have it for $30 which is half price. They keep food hot or cold for up to 3 hours.
What if you yourself don't purchase the Thermomix? Do you still get a thermo server?
I'm not a big fan of plastic do the steamer and basket come in stainless steel?
No only plastic
Yes the Varoma base comes in stainless steel as part of the set that you can purchase on ebay from Spain. The sell the complete TM as well.
The plastic is food safe polypropelene plastic that is glass fiber re-inforced and carries the food safe logo.
There are several Thermomix TM 31's on Ebay from Spain at a much reduced price. Has anyone bought one of these? If so, how do they compare with the Aussie one? Is it genuine?
Yes but they don't come with a warranty, cookbook or Thermoserver, and this month Thermomix gives you a pink carry bag.
TMs can be damaged in shipping...I know someone who ordered hers from Italy. When it arrived the scales didn't work because it had been damaged. She has no warranty. Without the scales it's just not the same!!
There is a seller selling them with a 2 year warranty... still a few hundred dollars cheaper than here...
Thermo mix.....how much is it to buy in Australia ??
$1800-$1900.
i bought mine on 9 months interest free plan - worked well for me at the time
Our demonstrator in Australia suggested getting a $2000 credit card with interest free repayments and that way you get to have Thermomix straight away while still being able to pay off :)
Seriously! Why on earth would anyone want to get a CC to buy a kitchen appliance, which will end up with them using that CC probably to the max after the machine is paid for, and if they dont pay it o...
Read moreff in the interest free period, the interest sky rockets they may never get it paid off or leave them in debt for years. I cannot believe a company and their sales people would advise anyone to do that.Looking to know does it pressure cook??
No it doesn't.
No it doesn't pressure cook. It FAST cooks however. Because the heating elements are inside the metal on the bottom of the bowl, it delivers the heat directly to the food and because it's constantly s...
Read moretirring the heat is evenly distributed and the food cooks faster. A curry with blade steak for instance which would take 4-5 hours in a slow cooker to tenderise the meat, takes only 1 & 3/4 hours in the Thermomix. It does not slow cook, or fast cook. Meat is tough & tastes boiled (it does not get hot enough to brown meat) The constant stirring breaks the meat apart. A slow cooker, or pressure cooker will give you superior results!
Are the Thermomix tm 31 on Ebay sent with a conection to fit an Australian Power point? Are the titles on the Thermonix, and the details in the guide in English? Thanks
Yep they do. The guide is in english, be warned there is no cookbook though so start researching recipes now and stocking up.
Please be aware that if you purchase an overseas machine you will not have a warranty in Australia, and Thermomix in Australia are not obliged to service your machine.
By consumer law, an International company are still required to service and guarrantee their product, despite where it was purchased. If you lived in Germany and decided to immigrate to Oz, as some do...
Read more, the company here would still have to service the machine. Despite a warranty of 2 years, Consumer Affairs states that big money products actually have a much longer lifespan than disposable appliances, eg microwaves have a 'life' of 8 YEARS! Should check on this with regards to TM.Does anyone have a used thermomix for sale?
Not sure why my previous comment was removed... What I said was that you will be hard pressed to find a second hand one for sale, unless they sell it for financial reasons and need money in a hurry. They are so good, once you have one, you keep it.
Does anyone have a cheap used thermomix for sale?
Everyone I know that has one wouldn't part with it for the world! lol
I wouldn't hold your breath, Cindy8 - it's like asking if someone doesn't need their right arm anymore, lol! (Joking - no offence!)
I've been looking too, just kind of shows how good they are that you can't find one second hand!! Looks like I'll be getting a new one, especially after checking out all these thermomix love stories:)
I am wondering if this machine is noisy? I am currently making smoothies for breakfast and flatmate has complained about the blender early in the morning.
Yes the thermomix is very noisy but very quick, I think it would annoy your flat mate more than the blender would
Except that it would probably take less time! Less than one minute in the TM for a smoothie.
Oh please! this machine is noisy,(especially when you add ice cubes to it!) but it takes less than the readout of 1 second to grate a carrot finely.
Does anyone make their own bread and what can you use this machine to do ? ie knead raise etc..
Yes! It's amazing on loaves, buns, etc. You can even mill your grain (like buckwheat, etc) in SECONDS - then add your water and dry yeast, mix on 'interval kneading' for a couple of minutes - set as...
Read moreide to raise for half an hour, and then bake in the oven. Delicious. Ideal for a quick lunch. It sure does make bread. but u rise it in the thermo mat then cook in the oven, its alot quicker than any other way :) it grinds, pulses, sorbets, u name it :)
I make bread every two days. There is a great recipe on the Recipe Community for clone of every day white bread which is spectacular.
Is it good for raw food recipes
Yes, I actually brought mine whilst I was doing a raw food diet. I bought the raw food cookbook that TM has too. It's $5. Because it has temperature control you can cook your food to 38 or 50 degrees ...
Read moreso it is still technically raw, but has some heat in it. My favourite dish was the raw thai coconut soup which tasted like I was back in Thailand! I make my smoothies in it in the mornings, mix my salads in it for lunch and of course dinners!Hi there, it's fantastic for all cooking as you get to control everything it does. I have made a coleslaw in it and it was delicious. I hope this helps
Does the thermix chop glaced ginger?
I haven't tried it but I have chopped dried mango in it and I think the textures are similar.
It goes a bit sticky, and chops very quickly...just do turbo bursts, if your recipe includes nuts you may want to chop them at the same time. I made christmas biscuits with ginger and almonds, lovely!
Can I freeze frutie dream? To use at a later date
Yes but it will freeze quite hard because it doesnt have anti freeze in it like store bought ice cream. I freeze mine and then let it defrost before i eat it again. Admittedly it doesnt taste exactly ...
Read morethe same because the texture is different. What Inusually do is freeze any left overs into ice cube trays and then just pop a few cubes in with my smoothies in the morning.I keep fruity dream in the freezer, and it's still easily malleable enough to easily scoop with a spoon!
You can always freeze it into ice cube trays and wizz them up again in the TM when you want to eat it to get the same consistency as when you first made it.
I bought a cold pressed juicer to maintain the nutrition of vegetable and fruit juices. Does the high speed blending destroy enzymes in the food?
The cookbook recommends blending juices using ice cubes to help crush plant fibres and keep the enzymes cool (just like they do at Boost juice bars). The result contains all of the fibre unlike a juicer. They're just different!
High speed blending does not give you the nutritional benefits as cold press - the thermomix does not actually juice and you have to strain it
Why does it only have a 2 year warranty? For that price - would be better if it had 5 year warranty. Has anyone's broken? If so - what was the time frame?
I don't have any control over warranty as I am a customer and user of thermomix. I have never had any issues with my machine - mind you if you talk to a consultant you will find out why they do not b...
Read morereak down as it has to do with the engineering of the motor. It doesn't have any parts that will break down like other machines. I know lots of friends with this machine and none of them have said anything about breakdowns. Ask the consultant how often they have problems. The price has been worth every cent and I would do it again. Especially when I use it everyday the cost is minimal for me to have an easier life in the kitchen.I have only had mine for 2 months (but use it several times a day) and I have known people who have had theirs for 3 to 5 years already without an issue. Apparently they have been in Germany for near ...
Read more30 years with folks still using their original version (not withstanding a couple of replacement seals). It is a very sturdy piece of kit, and yes a 5 year warranty would be reassuring but I haven't heard of any issues in the longer term. CheersThe answer I got when I asked the question was that it has a no maintenance reluctance motor which if there is likely to be a problem with it, it would appear in the first 2 years.
Why is the machine so much cheaper in Europe? Nearly half the price. Surely it does not cost that much for them to be sent out here.
Setting up the customer care and service system in Australia is more expensive, compared to European/UK. Freight, service couriering, plus extra value gifts each month such as cookbooks or tools. The ...
Read morebreadth of our country requires more local team leaders to ensure proper customer care and services (cooking classes and facilities to maximise people's use of the thermomix) in each area. This is an integral part of helping you get the thermomix working for you - that's partly why buying overseas end up being more expensive in terms of value. Going to a cooking class and having my consultant come back for another demo meant I started really making grocery savings and having even more fun with the thermomix. And, most importantly the recipe development for australians (check every copy or competitor of the TM - they all rely on the recipe development of the thermomix). It would be nice if it was closer in...
Read more price to Europe for SURE, but the money I paid was made back so much more quickly by the way it is set up here.My sis who lives in Perth paid too much for a Vitamix close to a $1000. It cost less than 400 dollars here,in the States. Appears that imported goods sold in Australia are over priced.
