Read mored again. Tom tom doesnt make gps anymore and the quality of 520 Not as near as the tomtom go 930 i bough in 2010. It still works but cant get free map update so bough this 520 nearly 3 yrs ago.

I have the Start 52 which is a base model. It has free map updates but not free speed cam updates. I suggest not using a finger to operate the menus but use a rubber based stylus

Read moreld no longer support that device with map updates, their definition of maps for life varies considerably from common sense. The 520 will alert you if you have it turned on it the settings. Usually around 5kms over the speed limit.

Mine died last Sunday (29thNov20)about 11am(mid 30's) after stopping car for just 10 minutes.........working immediately before .....then would not restart in car .......nor on TomTom My Drive Connect...
Read more when I got home.............only 18 months old.........support lacking....logged email request.......still no answer. ..........appears to be a common problem with 520 short life..........failure to restart.......TomTom should recall product...replace faulty units ............12 months warranty...........does say a lot.............sounds like they don't have confidence in their own product.......(much like many others)
My speed camera alert is not working . How can this be corrected. Never had a problem with my old tom tom and prior to updating the 620 . The speed alert is working. I have the Australian map. VERY frustrating.

I have had this problem with my 520 after some updates. I found that doing a drum roll reboot afterwards brought the speed cameras back on line
Tomtom go 520 wouldn't turn on. Got new battery. Still going through the startup then the bar across the bottom, gets 1/4 of the way then goes to the screen with the red X. Ok so I try the hard reset. On the black and white page, seems the date is 1/1/1970!!!! what the! Anyway I try the 3 on button presses but all that happened was It went to start screen. Now it won't turn off at all. Just keeps going round the same senerio
Anyone else finding the 520 has a mind of its own, now wont show street level and freezes and sometimes to even download update have to reboot a dozen times because of freezing . I don’t have any trouble with a Navman I bought in place of a no updates available for a One
Do not expect anything from TomTom anymore. TomTom is dead, Even hard to find anyone to contact with. Their new contract with Hauwei might save them, but I really doubt about it.

Speed camera alerts updates kept updating on my 520 every time I use it for 6 weeks, then stopped updating, now speed cameras alert no working have been on tomtom home, tom tom drive, even went back to factory settings started from scratch twice, map shows speed camera, then turn on next day no more speed camera alerts is this the end gps maybe 1 or 2 years old, next question do I throw in bin ???

My GO520 behaved similarly before shutting down completely, it would flash the TomTom name and Symbol in the screen constantly.
Holding the on/off switch for about 30secs would rectify until eventuall...
the power supply was my problem cheep Chinese socket extension so make sure you have primary power to the device solves so many problems.
