Cigarette and aux socket, bluetooth connection with phone is......pain....

published

1. I tried to connect my phone to camry 2011 bluetooth is not easy so watch it in the youtube.... give up...
2. Aux and cigarette socket to charge my phone is terrible. It is deep inside and very hard to reach even though I have small hands. Every time I connect to aux or charge my phone in pain.
Otherwise the car itself is fine.

Hybrid Battery replacement - no drama

published

I got 443000 km out of the original HV battery on my Camry
Yes, Toyota is expensive but Prius Battery Exchange in Sydney did it for about half the cost .
They keep the old one.
Could not be happier and can see why most Taxis in Australia changing over to Hybrids now.

Toyota Camry Hybrid Luxury 2010
Another great machine from Toyota, very quiet inside, fun drive, this car has very comfy seats and plenty of pace for the whole family, only negative thing is less boot space due to batteries in the back of the car the. Never had any problem with this car. Very fuel efficient. I have done over 60,000 km it still hasn't required breaks replacement. Highly recommended.

Its okay but there are some pretty bad problems.

published

The car is a 2007 Toyota Camry Altise and it looks okay and is nice to sit in, but driving is a problem with the back window being really small with no reverse camera or sensors, there are huge rear blind spots which make changing lanes risky. The car feels well powered but the automatic transission feels sluggish and hessitant. I would recommend this car however but not the Altise I would recommend getting a model with reverse camera or parking sensors to make the car better but other than that it is pretty comfortable to sit in and a huge roomy boot.

The only problem I'm getting with my 2008 camry is the dashboard, it's too soft it is deteriorating and I am using alot of fuel don't matter how much servicing I do. The steering rack keeps noise sometimes and the stereo isn't the best but it carries some nice sounding speakers my kids and I love it.

This car is perfect. Low running costs, good performer roomy interior!

published

Have just clocked 160,000km and this car is still going very strong. 2010 model. Quality is on par with any Toyota. High K's and all components still work perfectly. Nothing has ever gone wrong with this car!! Definitely recommend. Fuel economy of a small 4cyl car with the space and power of a larger 6cyl car!

Soul destroying driving

published

I had a Camry provided by work and I'm so glad I don't drive it anymore. The car is oversized and underpowered - hard to park, very uncomfortable seats even for long journeys (imagine doing 800km trips!) and the most under featured modern car I've ever been in. Mine didn't even have an input for MP3 player just a really bad CD radio which looked like it was from 1995 and sounded cheap and tinny.

The fuel consumption was fairly high and overtaking was risky on country roads. Like other posters mine had suspension problems where it would pull to one side when driving and it needed significant work done. If you like driving a fridge on wheels get this but if you like driving and value comfort and dynamics get something else.

5 Star car

published

A well put together, fuel efficient car. Cheap to service and very little if anything goes wrong. Interior materials and paint is above standard as you would expect from Toyota. Probably a bit thirstier than other four cylinder cars due to its size. Japanese definitely know how to engineer cars. 5 stars .

Steering pulling to the left, first 100 yards, U turn back to dealer. I had several wheel alignment, both dealers and specialist, then fitted "Redranger" caster of set bushes with camber adj bolt kits. To finally fix the steering.
Radio too bright at night, my modification to earth return circuits of air conditioning control three knob unit radio bevell and radio dial, by installing reostaes in series. In north american Camrys the circuit diagrams radio dimable with speedo.
Now I have fixed these factory inbuilt faults it a good car.

Sticky dash, rattling sunroof steer clear

Although reliable, I have a late model 2007 Camry, the car had vinyl protection applied now its sticky and falling to bits. Motor One group have washed their hands of my claim saying its a manufacturing issue. Its now in the hands of Toyota to come to the party to fix we shall see what happens next ....

An example of world class engineering

published

I bought the 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and from my first test drive I knew this was the car I would buy. I have owned other Toyota cars, hybrid and non hybrid cars like the Prius and also a 2005 Camry Altise, this car which is a 'Camry Hybrid' is in its own class. Dead quiet engine, really good pickup and braking, it glues itself onto the road. Gives a feeling of luxury and smoothness. Fuel efficiency doesn't get any better. One of the most family friendly cars ever made. Once you buy a hybrid, you will always continue to buy one. The technology is ever improving each year and the hybrid battery is made to last the life of the car.

Best Car that I have Had Since 1996

published

I have had my Toyota since January 2014. I do not understand why it took me so long to get a Toyota. After 2 goes at buying Korean cars which were just ok and a 1 go at buying a Chinese car which was bad news. I listened to my children all of them drive a Toyota and got a Toyota. I cannot praise my Toyota to the High standard that it is there are just no words to say other than perfect.
Forget Korean and Chinese cars and Get A Toyota.
Reliable never lets you down.

Love my big 4 cylinder

published

We test drove a range of 4 cylinder cars before purchasing our Toyota Camry Touring Edition 2011 Sedan.
We chose it because
- biggest 4cylinder at the time (it was hard to downgrade from 6, wanted best power, best economy)
- best performance/acceleration of four brands
- Toyota is so reliable - last new car was also a Toyota (V6 camry) lasted us 16 years
- excellent servicing, too.

It's been 2.5 years now and we LOVE it!
Smaller motor, still performs well on highway

Excessive road noise

published

Have just bought a 2010 Toyota Camry sedan ex gov car from auction with 18,500 km running on 215/60 Dunlop Sport SP 300 E tyres, and am extremely disappointed with excessive road noise. My 2002 Camry was a lot quieter. I would expect changing to another tyre brand like Bridgestone would help but I am also hearing other road noise from wind. Has anyone else experienced the same?

My 2008 Camry had a lot of tyre noise. Swicthed to a set of Michelins and the car is quiet and has a much better ride. My Camry also has wind noise.

Yes, had the Michelin's fitted and it stopped both the noise and the awful "tram tracking" experienced with the Dunlop factory tyres, these were the Michelin tyres which supposedly offer better fuel economy.

Not bad car to drive love the cruise control save heaps in speeding fines. Turning circle a bit of a bad. Toyota need to really think next time they building a car, I have had mine for about 10 months thinking of trading in for a Corolla or the Holden Cruze.
Nice to drive.
Bad turning circle. No mp3 input. No sound system controls on the steering wheel service cost at the dealers.

Havent had that problem Id contract the dealer where you got it from

MVRama

The problem was water leaking from windshield which was replaced 4 years back. Rain leaked in and caused electrical shorts/problems. I took it to service, they suggested I replace windscreen which I had it done. Then they cleaned the joints/junction what ever, and no problem at present. Hopefully the windscreen seal is good and durable and will not cause same problem. Totally it cost $450 for windscreen + $550 for mechanic service an total of nearly $1000.

Hi Riff,

I did not drive a Toyota with so many kms, however what I've heard they can do 1 mil kms when serviced properly. Look, it is probably the most reliable car you can get. Thus, examine the major parts properly such as engine (sound, start, behaviour by low and high speed, acceleration), gear box, suspension... Otherwise I believe it should be a very good car.

Best,
Andrej

The dealer told me they have no problem with older models. But of course depends on previous owner.
