Hey guys, I’m literally on my way to buy a 1998 Hiace 2.4l petrol and gas, roofracks,
Reverse camera, aircon is great, cosmetically beat up but drives absolutely fine. Rego runs out end of may amd there is a slow oil leak somewhere behind the front wheels. I’m buying for $3000 should I buy? Does this sound like a bargain? Please, thank you.

I have just bought a cheap van that will need a lot of work done to it. I am hoping to do this in my spare time in evenings and weekends. Is there a site or breakdown of all the parts, locations, what it looks like and how to replace it. I could easily google, but I need to know what some parts are first!
E.g. The front undercarriage, has a large, square, metal rigged part (i assume radiator cover?) that is pretty severely dented.

Those vans are bullet proof but wear and tear has to be taken into account. Differential, brakes, belts, clutch if manual, gearbox, but nothing internal should fail is the normal for these.

was thinking about getting one and converting it into a camper of sort just a bed and storage and that but also want to use it as my everyday too, only got a 20 min drive to work
what do you guys rekon fuel or diesel? and are there any outher faults or things like that i should know about?

Depends on your distance, the petrol only comes in a 2 litre and diesel 3.0 turbo ZL model.
20 mins to work then round 30 min home
But will obviously be travelling further on weekends and such
I am considering the exact same thing with maybe a commuter or SLWB. Interested to know about parts and costs to compare to other, and also weighing up diesel and petrol.

Hi sir my toyota commuter 2016 has 150k km odo and t belt warning light showed on the dashbord.my question is it necesary to change a set of t belt with tensioner or t belt only?
1 answer
take it to a mechanic who will hook it up to a code scanner and give you an instant answer. if you do replace the timing belt, do the water pump at the same time and the tensioner pulley. If you dont and one of these fails it will cost just as much to repair. good luck matey

A 2005 Hiace petrol van does it have a chain or belt please?

petrols have a timing chain and no replacement time limit. Diesels have a belt and need changing every 150,000 kms

Hi,
We have a 2008 Hiace, the drivers seat is limiting for my husband due to health restrictions. Does anyone who owns a late model Hiace know if they have upgraded the drivers seat? I E we could buy a later model seat and have it fitted example lumbar support .
Thanks for your help.

unfortunately the Hiace has changed little when it comes to seating and cab comfort. I removed the drivers seat and put a VN commodore drivers seat in instead and it made the world of difference.
Hi Yoshi
What year model is your Hiace is it a bus or Cargo Van.
Thanks for your help
