I have just purchased this fridge/freezer, still have to purchase a deep cycle battery. How does the deep cycle battery connect to car to charge it? And how does it connect to the fridge please?

A second battery needs to be wired to your first battery, there are multiple ways of doing this, check with an auto electrician for what's best for your car. When it's being installed you can add wires which will run your fridge from the second battery.

Thank you Simon, I have since found out how, and it’s going to cost around $1000.00 to fit it, so maybe have to manage without the deep cycle battery. I do appreciate your response, many thanks.

Hi, my son has a new CFX 65. The fridge runs fine on 240v and when plugged to 12v when the car is running, however when the car is turned off and the fridge is running on the auxiliary battery the fridge comes up with an error and stops running. We thought his battery might be no good so I put fridge in my Landcruiser where I have new batteries and run my old CF 50 with no issues and it does the same thing. It’s like the fridge is turning off due to low voltage in the battery when running on 12v. Does this model of fridge have adjustable voltage protection, or is there something wrong with the fridge ?

I know with the 75l dual zone there are 3 different setting for battery protection.

Check your manual. I currently have no dual battery and have it set to the highest setting. As you say, it shuts down not long after the car is turned off to ensure the starter battery doesn’t drop too low.

If he has auxiliary batteries, you could set it to the lowest setting which I think runs the battery down to 11v...

I have heard of a compressor issue that results in the compressor not starting when it gets 12v. It's a return to dealer or manufacturer fix.

Hi Andrew,

It doesn’t sound out of the norm for a small fridge, but I think I’m having trouble understanding how much flex you’re talking about. A little would be understandable.

These fridges are not designed to be hosed out, and as such, the seams are not completely waterproof. When cleaning, just a bit of spray-n-wipe and a chux is what I use.

Cheers

My cfx 95 continuously swaps which side it is cooling down.
When it was new this would take about 1 minute, but now it seems to be about every 5 seconds.
Hence, the compressor is constantly going.
Any advice?

They only have a single compressor and are meant to swap from side to side but they should not be constantly running. Same thing was happening with mine, has been at the service agent now for 7 weeks and they can not work it out. If is under warranty I would be looking to get this into a service agent while you still can as mine started like this and in the end would not cool under about 8 degrees at all

I have had a few conversations with Waeco regarding their fridges & how so many of them seem to delevop faults after 3 years or so....the response was “it’s lasted that long it’s time to buy a new fridge”
This brand is not designed to last...very poor quality & terrible customer service.
I will never purchase a WAECO product again!!!
My suggestion would be to purchase another brand!

Probably best to get this to a service tech to look at. Could be a compressor issue. Not a user serviceable part.

I contacted dometic and talked to one of their so called service technicians his response was 'you can't expect them to last forever'.didn't want to know about it .does anyone know how I can get them to admit that it's a lemon and fix the thing under warranty.

dometic finally contacted me with an offer to sell me a new' fridge'.it's good to see they have a sense of humour.lol

Our CFX65 DZ needs defrosting about every 2 days. What is the cause and how do you overcome this problem? We set the temp to -17 for the Freezer.

1 answer
Nick
Nick

Often in areas with higher humidity or warmer weather you will find that the moisture in the air will freeze to the side of the fridge. This is less prevelant in cooler climates where the air is drier. This can also be exacerbated by regular and constant opening and closing of the lid. I wouldn’t worry about it too much unless the freezing is patchy which might indicate an issue with the compressor gas. But I doubt that is what is happening to yours.

Hi all,
We have a cfx65 fridge freezer, a few years old now. Seems to be working fine except for the temperature display (blank) unable read or adjust temperature.
Going to buy a external temperature gauge. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and or a possible fix?

Make sure switch near where power supply input is is set on normal. If it is set on emergency then that is your problem

Our Waeco CFX 65 12 volt component has stopped working. The 240 volt works fine. The 12 volt lead is ok. Would really appreciate some help.

There is a fair chance your fridge is still under the 3 year manufacturer warranty. I would suggest you look at the Dometic web site and look for a service centre in your area. The list is from 2014 but it is accurate enough. Then simply call the agent and book your fridge in for a service.

It is 5 years old & out of warranty.
