New cfx 65 runs great but for some reason it won't run off car batteries, will run on 240v power. Have checked power to fridge with volt meter and all is good but it won't power up?

We have just purchased the CFX-95DZ2 and have the same problem, works fine on 240V power but as soon as it is put in the car it doesn't run, it powers up but cycles the compressor off and on. We are running this in a Landcruiser Sahara 200 series 2013 model with dual batteries. Not sure why the fridge would not be designed to run in this type of vehicle.

if you are just using the standard cigarette socket that came supplied in the vehicle chances are you will need to run a bigger wire to it,minimum size would be a 4 mm but i run 6mm in my car and ute for my waeco fridge. Its just the way they are designed i can plug my 40ltr engel into any standard cigarette socket and it will run til the battery goes dead but the waeco needs the big wire. All the weacos are the same i have many friends with them and they have all had to run a bigger wire to get them to run.

No idea sorry. I have never had reason to change mine. Check with Waeco or the dealer you purchased from.

Waeco cfx 65 dz keeps changing set point from-5 back to 8 degrees. Why?

Press the set button until you get to the temperate option, then use the plus or minus buttons to select your desired temperature. Let it sit on the desired temperature for about 10 secs and you will noticed it will lock it in. You will also see the set temp flash on the display a few times once it has been confirmed. After this the fridge will go back to displaying the current internal temperature and will continue cooling (if required) to reach the desired set temperature.

Yeah got that right but once I have done that say the next day I will check it again and the set point will be back at 8 degrees

Hi Marc
I use ours as a fridge freezer using the insulation wall. The setting that I use is -16°C . This way the freezer section keeps frozen foods frozen and the section next to this sits at about 4°C which keeps milk fresh and the raised section we can put lettuce etc which keeps cool but doesn't get cold burn. You will do well to freeze foods in a domestic freezer first and they will then stay frozen. If you expect your Waeco to freeze food from air temperature it may well spoil before freezing properly. The Waeco is a great product but don't expect miracles. It will keep food frozen and fresh but as I said it isn't designed to freeze from air temperature.

Hi Marc, I have to agree with all of John's comments. We tend to set ours at minus 16 to 18 depending on the weather conditions, eg In Darwin at minus 18 because the ambient temperature is so much hotter. We've never been able to take lettuce in our caravan fridge because they freeze and become soggy and horrible. If you place lettuce, butter, cheese etc in the raised compartment you will be very happy with the result. Just keep on eye on the items closest to the freezer and adjust the temperature accordingly. I'm sure you'll be very happy with your purchase. If you need to use your Waeco just as a fridge remove the freezer inserts and run the fridge at about 2 degrees. It's a great drinks fridge over the Christmas period

Check the 240v fuse where the IEC lead goes in to the 240v socket. It may be loose or broken or missing.

Does the CFX 65 DZ Waeco work well as a fridge ONLY or a Freezer ONLY when temperatures exceed 35 degrees Celsius?
The Waeco guys say it is not designed to be used as above but only as a Freezer & Fridge together!
I'm not getting a clear message regarding this subject. I notice one forum respondent didn't think this fridge worked when the freezer is full. Have other people found this a problem when freezer is full.
I'm not real IT literate so appreciate a call 0406535099.

Hi Glenn, I can't really answer you question about how well it works as one or the other over 35 degrees, as we used our Waeco purely as a fridge/freezer in the top end, but I can say that our freezer was virtually always full and the fridge worked fine. Make sure that the items you want to be the coldest are closer to the freezer section. We have used ours as a fridge only, over Christmas and for parties and were very happy with how cold our drinks and food remained. Hope this helps. Sandy K

This fridge will work effectively as either a fridge or freezer. The thing that makes your fridge freezer struggle more is actually free space. It's a good idea to fill most of the free space with water bottles. These fridges will easily work in 35 degree heat and will lower your freezer to 50 below ambient temperature. So I'm the case of 35c outside you will be able to get your freezer down to -15c. And anything between if you want it as a fridge.

I have vitrifrigo 150 litre fridge & separate freezer in my 6 year old Kedron caravan which I just purchased.
I thought about getting a Waeco fridge/freezer for car and as a back up. What would you recommend to travel around Oz?? A dual zone cfx65 or not???

Hi Glenn, last year we travelled from Melbourne to Darwin, across to Broome, down to Perth and back to Melbourne. We had a 90 litre fridge in the van and had the dual zone cfx65 as our back up. We were away for 9 weeks and were very happy with our Waeco. Your fridge and freezer are bigger than ours but for a trip around Oz I'm sure you would find the dual zone to be an excellent choice. We considered the 50 litre but given the footprint was the same decided to buy the 65 litre. With the dual zone you have the advantage of having 3 options, dual fridge freezer, fridge only (if you like a few drinks) or freezer only if you were to catch a heap of fish along the way. Despite having some pretty hot weather the unit never let us down. We gave ours a 5 star rating. Have a great trip. Sandy

Hi Glen
our Waeco 65 dual zone is great. Turn it on 24 hours before you want to use it and once cold you can begin stocking frozen goods and then cold items. Don't expect it to operate from room temp like your home fridge freezer. It doesn't have the same power naturally. You will be expecting the impossible. Once the unit is at an operable temp you can expect it to keep frozen goods frozen and your cold items fresh. We don't push ours too hard and have never had a problem with food spoiling and one time with it in the rear of our D Max and the outside temp was 36*C. Always ensure that the motor vents are not blocked and we also have the insulated cover for it.
I can and do recommend it through our personal use and we have no association with Waeco. We recently used it as an extra fridge for a family function and precooled the fridge and food before using it. I set the temp at minus 16 for freezer and fridge and at minus 2 for fridge only. Never put your lettuce in the freezer end even when only being used for fridge. Contact me if you have any other questions.
regards John T.

Hi John, when I phoned Waeco service they said the cfx65 DZ shouldn't be used as a freezer only or a fridge only. The reason was a DZ only has a cooling plate in the freezer part where as the single zones have a bigger plate across the whole base! The Waeco guys said it wouldn't be very good being used like that. They said used as a fridge only it would freeze a bit on one side and would not be cold enough on the other side. Also used as a freezer only it would freeze food in the non freezer area.
What have you found personally?

What temperature does the fridge normally run on?

Hi Jenny
I run ours at -16*C as we useit for both freezer and fridge. At -16*C it keeps frozen food frozen and dairy goods at around 4*C which is optimal. The far right section we use for lettuce and the like as you want them cool not frozen. Hope this helps.

Hi Jenny
You can set it to run at various temperatures. It all depends on what you are keeping and what the optimum temperature is for those items.

SandyK
SandyK

Hi Jenny, I agree with John. We run ours between 2 and 4 degrees for fridge only, but it does depend on what you have in the fridge and the outside temperature. It is great to be able to put a lettuce in the dairy section and not have it freeze, even when running the Waeco as a fridge/freezer.

Can I use it as a freezer only ? allan

Hi Allan, we haven't used ours just as a freezer but you can. Take out the insulated panels between the baskets and remove the lid from the freezer section. Of course the coldest part of the Waeco will be at the freezer end. Of course you will need to turn the temp down to minus 18 or so, depending on the weather conditions. We really love the versatility of our Waeco.

Hi Paul, yes you can run the Waeco just as a fridge. I leave the baskets in so that the walls of the fridge don't get damaged but you need to take the insulated dividers out and remove the lid from the freezer section. Run it on 1-3 degrees (depending on where you have the fridge) and place the items you want coldest at the freezer end.

Yes you can however its nowhere as effective as 65 cfx the motor tends to run more hence uses more amps out per hr .dont be sucked by there rating of amps per hr there only relevant if your running fridge on 240 volts.

As just a fridge run it around -1 to 2 degrees. The further away from the compressor the colder the fridge so perhaps put your drinks at that end and your veg at the other. -16 will freeze your food solid.
