Good results

published

Only bought this a week ago but although I need to work on my technique a bit more, the results are amazing. From day 1, and after I thought I had cleaned my teeth well, the WaterPick flossed out a whole lot more. Plus, with my uneven teeth, some areas of plaque are hard to do without scrubbing with the toothbrush resulting in sore gums....now they're all gone. Feels so clean and good.

What's All The FLOSS

published

Got my Waterpik 100 Ultra from Chemist Warehouse for $119, bargain in anyone terms compared to other retailers eg Harvey Norman $149, Shaver Shop $169
OK I suggest you go to the Waterpik website and watch a couple of videos before you use the unit, just makes things easier when first using.
In terms of effectiveness I rate the unit as excellent, you get 6 different zips, so there is one for everyone.
I mixed in warm water non alcohol Listerine which I think gives a total clean to my bucky beavers.

Poor water tube material design

published

We have used the WP-100 daily for a year... great machine but terrible water tube material. It breaks at the point of connection to the mobile handle. I've repaired it twice, but it is broken again. Needs a more flexible tubing material.

Tube and power cord breaks off - a common problem that could easily avoided

published

These 2 problems are common with the Waterpic. I have had 4 or 5 units as they are great for your daily oral hygiene. As for the water tube it will break as soon as you are out of warranty, but you can buy a replacement for about $20 at ??Harvey Norman or other specialist retailer. More annoying is the break of the power cord. There is very little you can do (I am not an electrician). It is caused by the poorly designed water tide inlet of the power cord into the unit. It could easily be fixed with a small design alteration. Try to tell that an American producer. Still I'd give a 5 star rating for effectiveness with oral health, but only 2.5 stars for product quality and longevity

End Gum Disease Without A Dentist or Chemicals!!

published

I was spending $200 every month at the dentist to treat my gum disease. I bought a Waterpik and in about 3 months my gum disease disappeared and has not returned. That was 7 years ago. I use it at least once a day, sometimes twice and I still have the same Waterpik which I've had no trouble getting spare parts for (one new hose) and fitting myself. Every time I clean my teeth it feels like I've had a professional clean. It also had the best tongue cleaner. I am addicted! My only complaint is that Waterpik do not make a travel version that is suitable to use with all electricity voltages.

Everyone should have one!!

published

Seriously everyone should have a Waterpik it is godsend!. All this time I thought I was doing a good job by flossing the traditional way, little did I know that there were particles which dental floss just cannot reach/clean out. After my first use my whole mouth felt so much cleaner and comfortable. Everyone should definitely have one.

Broken after 2 yrs of minimal use

published

I liked this product, but the water tube has snapped off at the base and is now unusable. I have not used it heavily so am very disappointed and of course it is a few months out of warranty.

Break at base of tube

published

Mine, too, broke at the base of the tube a month or so ago. But now reading reviews (because I miss that clean feeling! - floss just isn't the same) I reckon I'm about to get another just the same. It's expensive, but not as much as the periodontist!

The tube from jet to the base broken...

published

i bought this unit couple of years ago. used it regularly. few weeks back the tube from base to the jet started to break and water was squirting from a crack in the tube. later, the tube snappedd. can not use it at all. was not expecting such a break down in such a short time.
good pressure
the tube broken at a weak point.

BRILLIANT

published

We bought a water pik over five years ago on recommendation of a dentist. My husband had periodontal disease and had to see specialists who were impressed with the progress of his gums after using the pik. Personally I love the way it massages my gums (apart from getting bits of stuck food out). We still swear by it years later. It's pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it and I miss it if I haven't used it for a couple of days.
really cleans and stimulates your gums.

There's no evidence floss removes plaque either.

Very good cleaning product

published

Easy to use. As expected. Not sure if it does the same as flossing but it is fantastic. Bought it on shaver shop... Maybe find some good deals at ebay. It has different tips which is great and pressure levels. Im a dental product fan, and would recommend anyone to use it.
Put water and listerine.. Excellent!

Excellent and easy.

published

Excellent and easy way to floss the teeth. We bought for 2 reasons: 1) my wife struggled with flossing during pregnancy due to morning sickness and 2) I wanted something easier to use than dental floss. Flossing is very easy but can be a little messy in the beginning. Once used to it, you get a good feeling of getting a consistent flossing every time compared to dental floss. You can easily feel and see the effectiveness of it. At my latest dental check up my dentist positively commented on the health of the gums.

Never feel down in the mouth again

published

If you care about the health of your gums and teeth the the Waterpik Water Flosser is a must. The combination of water pressure and pulsations leaves your mouth feeling fabulously fresh. It also removes harmful bacteria around the teeth and gum line. Even after brushing my teeth thoroughly the Waterpik will find food remains I had failed to remove. My dentist remarked how healthy my mouth looked so the Waterpik is proving its worth. A happy dentist makes for a happy patient. The device can be bought at some pharmacies or online. I have seen it advertised for $189.95 but by shopping around I purchased mine for $159.95. Definitely a great investment.

Great device - more Aussies need to know about it!

published

I've recently had braces put on and regular flossing is so hard - threading between each tooth, it takes ages. I'd heard of WaterPik on American tv shows and thought I'd investigate, its fantastic! I wish I'd known about it sooner. Even before I had braces I wasn't a regular flosser… it was difficult to get between my crooked teeth, flossing back teeth was almost impossible and I never felt like I got it right. Thank you WaterPik, now I'll have straight teeth and healthy gums.
Great for people with braces
Not many Aussies know about it

Not impressed at all

published

After reading the reviews on this website I decided to change my Braun Oxyjet for a Waterpik, I don't like it at all. The pressure is not a high as expected, I had it replaced thinking it's the pump, but the second one is the same! also there is always water stagnating in the tube (welcome bacterias and mould!) the Braun empties completely. Also you need two hands to fill it because you have to get rid of the cover, I preferred the flip cover on the Braun. Basically I'm not impressed. I regret buying it.

water stagnates in it, unpractical to use, not as powerful as it says it is

You must have a very old model. Mine has very high pressure and also a flip cover. Keep running the unit e few second after the tank is empty and any water remaining in the tube will drain.

The perfect mouth care device

published

Having a few issues that need dental treatment I purchased the waterpik WP-100. This is an easy to use device that really cleans very well. I bought it after doing alot of research on how to best thoroughly clean my teeth and gums. The waterpik comes with several attachments for different cleaning jobs and coupled with regular brushing I can really feel the difference in my mouth :)

Highly recommend
Easy to use, Multiple attachments, great clean, fun
Very expensive to buy in Australia

Excellent

Why don't more people know about this product? The sales staff knew nothing about it in two chemists where my mum inquired and both of them had the waterpik on special that month! I think if every household had one, we would put dentists out of business. Well worth the price you pay for it!
The ultimate in dental care. It's actually fun to use and really gets in between your teeth for a perfect clean. Used in conjunction with a good electric toothbrush, you will never need to spend money on enormous dental bills.
Nothing. Some would say the price (it is expensive) but when you think the price you pay a dentist to repair teeth, the price means nothing.

There is a toothbrush tip
Included and box states that it has ‘convenience of brushing and flossing at the same time.’ Does that mean it will replace my toothbrush as well as flossing?

I tried it but personally prefer regular toothbrush and then water flossing. The problem with this attachment is that bristles are in a way of water pressure and then all you really doing is brushing with water.

Marlene C.
Marlene C.

It definitely WILL NOT replace your toothbrush. You would also be best sticking to your usual flossing routine as the waterpik does nothing.

I haven't had this problem. Are you holding the handle facing down towards your teeth or up? If you hold it upwards, then the water will leak out. Also the end of the tube should be in your mouth before you switch it on and whenever the machine is on. Maybe it's technique or maybe you have just been unlucky and got a faulty one. There are one or two videos on YouTube which may help. Sorry I can't be more help.

Marie, I never had that problem, but you might need a new handle with attached cable. You can buy them -I think at Harvey- and to fix it is simple, just 2 little screws underneath and replace the part. Normally if you don't insert the mouth piece fully it leaks, but you seem to do it correctly. Good luck and I hope this helps you
