Seems to do a good job at cleaning teeth
Last week my Braun Oxyjet broke after a few years of irregular use. I investigated buying a new one but was shocked at how expensive they were and also noted that several other people on ieatwords.com.au had reported the same problem with their Oxyjet as I had experienced with mine - the cord connecting the handset to the base unit had broken.
Given that I couldn't justify spending $200 on something that was likely to fail in the same manner within a couple of years, I started looking for alternatives. I found the Waterpik WP-100A on the...Read more
ieatwords website and it seemed to have a good reputation. I then went directly to Waterpik's Australian website and found that you could buy that model directly from then for $179. That seemed a little expensive, so I didn't bother. At the weekend I checked out several stores at our local Westfield centre, and found the Waterpik at Shavershop for $159. I got the impression that I could have negotiated this price down further, but I didn't bother. So, I got home and tried the Waterpik. It comes with 6 attachments, unlike the Oxyjet which has only one. And it has a 10-step pressure setting, unlike the 5 on the Oxyjet. For me personally, I have been using the machine on level 10. In truth, I wish it had a little more pressure, but it is more powerful than my old Oxyjet. One thing that the Waterpik doesn't do (that the Oxyjet does) is to quickly rotate the spray, and I do miss that function. I tried all of the attachments, and the regular head works just fine for me. A couple of the attachments are designed for people who wear braces, which I don't, so I probably won't use them.1 comment

Excellent
I have been using this waterpik for the past 4 months. I feel really clean after every wash. I will recomment to anyone.
Fantastic equipment, easy to use.
No heater to warm water. So need to use warm water from tap or lightly warm water in electric kettle.

There is a toothbrush tip
Included and box states that it has ‘convenience of brushing and flossing at the same time.’ Does that mean it will replace my toothbrush as well as flossing?

I tried it but personally prefer regular toothbrush and then water flossing. The problem with this attachment is that bristles are in a way of water pressure and then all you really doing is brushing with water.
It definitely WILL NOT replace your toothbrush. You would also be best sticking to your usual flossing routine as the waterpik does nothing.

I haven't had this problem. Are you holding the handle facing down towards your teeth or up? If you hold it upwards, then the water will leak out. Also the end of the tube should be in your mouth before you switch it on and whenever the machine is on. Maybe it's technique or maybe you have just been unlucky and got a faulty one. There are one or two videos on YouTube which may help. Sorry I can't be more help.
Marie, I never had that problem, but you might need a new handle with attached cable. You can buy them -I think at Harvey- and to fix it is simple, just 2 little screws underneath and replace the part. Normally if you don't insert the mouth piece fully it leaks, but you seem to do it correctly. Good luck and I hope this helps you

Next time buy the new unit combining the flosser with the brush. See on eBay.
