Hi Colin, thanks for your question. We can organise conversions for your barbecue. This is organised through our head office as (depending on the conversion) there needs to be a technician involved as well as the parts. Can you please contact our head office on 1300 301 290 to organise this.

Josh, thanks for jumping in on this conversation. That's not true; we do sell parts to customers. As mentioned above, depending on the type of conversion will depend on whether a technician or gas fitter is required, so there is a process to go through before we can send out parts.

The statement you're referring to applies to US barbecues- in Australia and NZ, it's a different process and we do allow conversions. Hope that helps clear that up!

Hi there, we have a Weber Q3200 we are wanting to put a new lid on it. Does the latest lid (with only Q label) on the top fit ok? Also can we just swap the thermometer straight over?? Cheers :)

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Naomi, thanks for your question. If you have a Q320 (older model), then the new Q3200 lids will fit as the cookboxes are the same size.

The thermometers are different shapes, so you'll need a new one to fit the new lid. If you want to purchase one, please contact us on 1300 301 290 and we can organise the order over the phone through our head office.

I am keen for a built in Weber.
Is the Q3600 the only option?
Also why is the Q3600 significantly more expensive than the Family Q models.
Does this relate to durability, size, materials....?

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Lou, thanks for your query. In terms of built-in barbecues, we also have a Summit range here: https://www.weber.com/AU/en/barbecues/premium-gas-range/summit-series/summit-e460-ng-built-in/7261024.html?cgid=221#start=1

The difference in price relates to the stainless steel housing, as well as the re-designed burner system, to fit the built-in specifications. If you need any more information on these barbecues, please let us know.

My Weber Family Q 3200 has 3 settings on the Gas knobs (Start/Hi; Medium, and Low), yet the manual makes no reference to the use of the medium setting. Some on-line recipes talk about turning the outer gas knob to medium after pre-heat for roasting/baking, was wondering if there is any documented use for the medium setting or is it not used due to the size of the Family Q?

Hi Matt, have you checked the battery behind the button? Ensure you've changed this, and when you take out the button check that there isn't any corrosion inside the chamber from the previous battery.

If that doesn't work, call us on 1300 301 290 and we can organise a new ignition kit to be sent out to you. Thanks!

Hi. Does anyone know how to get the rubberised ignition button to 'connect' to the ignition mechanism so that it stays in place? Thanks. (2019 model rather than the simple twist on button).

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Pat, are you talking about a Piezo igniter (red button, about the width of your pinky finger) or the larger electronic button with the lightning bolt?

If your piezo igniter is broken, you may need a new one. if it's the electronic igniter, then you should be able to insert it, twist and it should stay in place.

Many thanks - turns out part of the mechanism was jammed inside. All fixed now and several barbecues have been enjoyed. Happy New Year.

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Richard, we can help with that. I'm assuming you're talking about the cookbox and burner tube, and perhaps the gas hose as well? All spare parts come from our customer service team, which can be contacted on 1300 301 290; just have the serial number of your Q handy when you call, so we can look up the parts easily. Alternatively, you can email us at [email protected] and we can handle your query via email.

Can I ask what happened to your current ones?

The Q3200 manual that comes with the unit says that following the pre heating, the temperature should be set on high when roasting, but in that case my Q3200 reaches over 350C. What is the right temperature for roasting beef in the Weber Q Family? Why does the booklet says the BBQ large burner should be set on high; this seems wrong to me!

Tim

Tim I have the family Weber and when roasting I set the temperature to 180-200, for roasting times I do as they say and measure the meat when its sitting in the board. for every 1mm = 1 minute, so if the meat is 75mm thick for beef them 75 mins cooking time, you can also buy the thermometer to help.

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Tim, this is correct. As the Family Q has two burners and is a large barbecue, the outer burner is left on high to provide the right amount of heat and keep it constant through the barbecue. You need to ensure that you're only using the small middle burner on low for the first 20-25 minutes, then turn it off.

Are you using a convection tray and trivet when roasting?

What does the damp drafter do

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Virginia, are you referring to the wind deflector part that sits over the hole in the bottom of the cookbox?

If so, as the Family Q cookbox is quite large, the deflector helps keep any breeze from entering the bottom and reducing the heat performance of the Q.

If you are referring to a different part, then please elaborate a little more and we will help the best we can. Thanks!

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Unless otherwise specified, it is recommended that you remove your hotplate (if you have one) and use a convection tray and a roasting trivet. To ensure that the bottom of your roast is not scorched by the hot grill bars.
The convection tray and trivet used together to transform your Q™ from cooking in barbecue mode to oven mode in seconds. The convection tray is engineered with vents designed to circulate the heat above, below and perfectly all around the food. The vents also allow the fats from the roast to drain away, falling between the grill bars.
The set-up is simple.
• Place a convection tray on the grill so the four locating tabs sit inside the covered areas of your cooking grill. The tray should now be positioned in the middle of your
Q™.
• Place the roasting trivet on the tray. You are now set up for roasting or baking.
When you are roasting or baking you must pre-heat the barbecue. The instructions for pre-heating the Q™ for roasting and baking can be found in your cooking booklet received with the bbq. All models have slightly different roast settings.

To pre-heat your Family Q™; Open the lid and place the convection tray and the trivet in position.
• Turn both control knobs to the START/HIGH position.
• Press the ignition button to light the barbecue.
• Allow the barbecue to run for 10 minutes with the lid closed. (On high)
• Now that your Family Q™ is pre-heated,
• Turn the small burner to low setting (for 20mins)
• Leave the large burner control knob on the high setting.
• You can now place your food inside the Family Q™.

Hi Tony, thanks for getting in touch. We wouldn't suggest that you built it into a wooden bench as it's a combustible material; something like stainless steel or stone would be more ideal.
If you give us a call on 1300 301 290 we can let you know the specifications required and some places to look in regards to building it.

i am sure the q3200au does not have a battery you can purchase a new one from weber

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Eileen, there should be a battery behind the button - if you hold the front of the button and twist/shimmy it a bit, it should pop out and reveal a battery.
Change that, and if your igniter still isn't' working, then give us a call as you may need a replacement kit- it's free of charge as the igniters are covered for the life of the barbecue.

Thanks

I normally take about 1.5hrs to cook a roast chicken. What I am not sure of is how much extra time should I allow when cooking 2 chickens at the same time. I have the Weber Q 3200. Thank you in advance.

2 answers
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Kevin, thanks for getting in touch.

This link may help you, as it shows our rough cooking times for different sized roasts poultry http://www.weber.com/GB/en/cooking-time-tables/nav18.html

We typically say to add 10% of the cooking time to cater for two roasts; if it’s 2x 2kg chickens cook it for 1 hr 12mins + 11 mins (roughly 10%)= total cooking time 1hr 23 minutes.

I would say that 1.5 hours is a little long to be roasting the chickens, and you may be overcooking them. If you follow the guide above, I believe you'll get some great results.

Buy a meet thermometer with a probe (no need to get a Weber, you can get good one for a tenth of their price), and you wont have to guess anymore.

What is a draft damper on my Weber Q3200, can't seems to find any information on it, do I need to remove this?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi John,

What you're referring to is also known as a 'Wind Deflector'; it's a little piece of flat metal that goes across the drainage hole at the bottom of the cook box in the Family Q series. As they are larger barbecues, the hole is bigger, and therefore more wind can potentially enter the barbecue and make it hard to maintain temperature. This little piece of metal just helps reduce the wind. You should leave it on, don't remove it.

If you need any further assistance, please let us know.
