good product and service
Have had my Q220 for several years now and it gets used 3 --4 times a week all year long and used for steaks, roasts, etc and as a pizza oven; the only thing I don't cook on it is lamb chops ( leave them for the Weber GA on charcoal ) As a pizza oven it can't be beaten. I found when using the Q make sure you give it plenty of time to heat up b4 using, weber says 10mins, I give it 15-20 depending on weather. I like my steaks well done and never had a prob with nice branding and bbq taste. Service...11/10 for service, my grill was rusting I e...Read more

Love it, couldn't live without it. No longer eat pan fried meat ever.
We are a couple so don't need to cook large volumes of food at once and find the Q220 the perfect size. The extra height for roasting is definitely worthwhile in my opinion. We can roast a large chicken or a large leg of lamb with vegies etc. I felt the smaller unit was too small if you wanted to do steak and also have the plate on to cook onions or potato.
The oven in our rental was useless and the Weber really saved the day, we could cook again. I didn't try baking cakes but we did most everything else in it.

lthough sometimes we do run out of space on it for the veggies so a slightly larger one would have been good. If the vegies fall off the edge onto the al foil under the turn to charcoal :( We cooked pizzas prior to having the pizza stone and they were OK but the pizza stone definitely improved them. Overall it is a super convenient little unit. Easy to move, relatively easy to clean, reliable, and quite robust. We really have not taken good care of ours, it's been outside almost permanently and without the cover, overworked and really doesn't get cleaned as often as it should but it has never missed a beat. For all it's use it also seems quite efficient with the gas, we don't replace the bottle very often. Of course you don't get that charcoal smell/taste with gas but the convenience and 10min warm up time wins me over every time. Seems to heat evenly enough for everything we have used it for.

Still looking for the best barbeque
We've had our Weber Q for a few years now and we use it often.
Pros: It's easy to light and use and doesn't take long to heat up.
You can bake anything in Q that you can in a traditional oven - but a cake might taste funny?
The lid locks in the smoke and gives the steak/meat a lovely flavour.
The steel brush makes cleaning the grill surface easy.
Aldi marinated chickens taste like heaven when done in a Weber.
Cons: Expensive! And the accessories are expensive too.
Fat builds up on the inside of the lid and drips down onto the surface below from the lid's edge.
And we use a trivet when baking. That doesn't seem to help the drip problem.
Very hard to clean but doable (see hints below). The side tables are a waste because they don't hold anything heavier than a salt shaker. Bad design. No matter how hard I try, I can't get pork roasts to get crunchy crackling. I did manage to do it once on my sister's Weber though. HINT! I've got cleaning down to a fine art...but it ain't pleasant. Pull the barbeque apart including separating the lid from the base. Take the parts down the back yard and scrape the large chunks of fat out of the base with a paint scraper. Spray the inside of the lid and base (and grill iron) with BAM Oven Cleaner. Leave for 30 mins. Spray off with a hose, or pressure washer. Reapply oven cleaner if necessary. Dry thoroughly in the sun. Water gets into the burner and needs to be thoroughly dried out...so leave in the sun for 24 hours. Reassemble. Done!

Hi Paul, thanks for your feedback.
When fat and juices are dripping from your lid, it's probably from a previous cook that has splattered on the lid, solidified, and then become liquid again once you've pre-heated your barbecue. ... Read more
To avoid this, we recommend wiping the inside of the lid out with a paper towel while the barbecue is still warm (not hot). Great roasts, very broiled steaks
Just love doing roasts of all varieties in the Weber. Succulent and stops the house smelling forever. The real pity is that despite following instructions with great care (& rechecking them) the steaks are broiled. No crunch or real browning on the outside and not what I want. Happy to get advice but am a bit over it. Makes steak a sad dinner!

inder just to triple check. Preheat on HIGH with the lid closed for at least ten minutes. Oil and season your steaks, and it's a good idea to get them out of the fridge for about 15 mins before you cook them (yes it does make a difference). Then cook them directly on the grill with the lid down, with your Q on HIGH. If your steaks are about an inch thick, cook them for about 3-4 mins per side. When you put them on the grill, give them a pat on top to ensure the bottom has maximum contact with the grill - this helps with searing, the more contact with the grill the better the fats and juices will render down and burn off, creating a crust on the outside.... and this is what you're saying you're missing. It really comes down to heat, so with the Q following the above will give the best result. We have a steak video on our website, and it's on the DVD that comes with the unit too - check it out as a reminder. The only other thing to mention is that over time the burner tube may have clogged up a bit, this will restrict the heat, so make sure you give it a good clean. When roasting, do you put your meats into a roasting pan?Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love it BUT...
Had two (one blew over in crazy wind and cracked) and finally need to replace. Loved their neat style and convenience BUT: very pricey; side arms wobbly and can't hold very heavy dishes; and, most importantly, temperature range is VERY limited - can't get strong flame for seared steaks and, conversely, cannot get temperature down for proper slow roasting. So yes, stylish and generally good but quite limited if you really like your cooking. In two minds whether I'll buy another one.

w things that are super important in the process, for example, pre-heating on HIGH with the LID DOWN for at least 10 mins, will great the grill really hot for searing steaks - but you also need to cook with the LID DOWN as well during cooking to lock in the flavour and to get a juicy tender result. As for roasting, using a convection tray, and trivet setup, as seen in our instructional DVD that comes with the unit (or can be seen on our website www.weberbbq.com.au), we find that roasting on higher temperatures than you might be used too produces much better results than at lower temps. Unless of cause you would like to roast secondary cuts in true Low and Slow style - in this case, getting the temps down is challenging - once again though we'd love to chat with you to help with this. - such as Pork Loins with crackle, Legs of Lamb, Chickens, Turkeys and of course Beef (like a Standing Rib, my favourite) I was simply suggesting that after years of using the product and testing we recommend roasting at higher temperatures - I only mention this because often people get caught up on the temp and not the result... being a barbecue it sits outside where wind, outside temp and humidity all play a part - that's why we only ever refer to the settings on the control knob for cooking, not the temp on the gauge which is a guide to the internal temp of the unit. Anyway, glad to hear you purchased another one and enjoy using it for certain things. My intention in responding here is only ever to help people get the most out of using our products, and all recommendations that we make are based on first hand experience of using the product. Perfect Steak for the First Time!
So after 12 years of cooking bbqs on my hooded 4 burner bbq I have finally got myself a Weber Q. Wow! I just cooked a meal for 8 and cooked the best porterhouse steak ever! Usually I always stuff up the cooking and the steak ends up close to well done. Not this time! It was cooked to pefection. I just followed the instruction video and voila! Get yourself a Weber Q, you will not regret it!!

Tasty but expensive
Have had for about a month now and very happy with the taste of the meat that comes off it and it cooks quite quickly. What you need to watch is the fact that you will be up for a number of extras to get it to do what you want. The griddle cost me $79 which appeared to be the best way for us to get a conventional hot plate, but there are other options like the breakfast plate and half hotplate. The trivet $35 (plus $13 for the convection trays). A large vege basket was $45, which takes up most of the BBQ when on (small was too small for our needs). Fortunately I had a BBQ brush so I saved $16. Also needed a meat thermometer ($10 at BBQ's galore). Would love a trolley for it but $200 seems a bit steep.

Side tables - what were the designers thinking? No stars ...
This review is about the side tables - no stars. On the other hand the Q itself is fantastic - 5 stars.. Got one just before Christmas - should have bought it years ago. Everything has turned out beautifully, super easy to clean.
However ... why bother having side tables that wobble and bounce - even tongs are heavy enough to weigh table down enough to slip off. Absolutely useless, and such a shame given how good the rest of it is. Mine are coming off so that another unsuspecting operator doesn't have their pizza land face down in the sand.

Purchased the 220 back in September, cant get enough of it. Have never cooked roasts before until I tried cooking on it with trivet and convection tray for outstanding results.Fabulous for cooking the perfect steak.
I had a problem with the digital thermometer I purchased with it not working properly from time to time, rang up Weber who inturn sent me all the packaging/posting to send back to them via courier so they could look at it, within 24 hours of pickup they rang to say a new one is on its way, which i received 2 days later.
Excellent customer service, excellent product, cant fault it/them

This has cooked the most succulent roast belly pork ever!!! I kid you not the pork didn't even get the chance to leave the cutting board and go onto the serving plate. The crackle didn't turn out so good first time, but the second time around i got a piece of meat with a much thinner layer of fat under the skin and made sure i scored it properly and it was perfection!

cooking so many more bbq now
Having picked this up only a month ago I've now been cooking so much more outside than before. I still have the traditional charcoal kettle Weber in the garage, but am uncertain when I'll next use is as the Weber Q is so convenient. I'm cooking a 4.5kg turkey now and it's running like a treat. I've also used it for lamb chops, scotch fillets, potatoes, eggplant, corn, and all come out perfect. If you do accidentally overcook a steak it still sears the outside and keeps it moist and tender.

Lives Up To The Hype!
It's fabulous. We have roasted and grilled lots of vegetables with outstanding results. I bought a pizza stone, and we were more than happy with the way the Weber cooked the pizza. I have also baked potatoes (in their skin, no oil), and made chips and potato wedges, and they were all delicious. The Weber Q really does work like an oven when you use the trivet. The ultimate test was banana bread; the result was far better than anything I have made using the indoor electric oven; I will be baking more cakes as a result. It is so simple to use, lights straight away every time (read the instructions) and it totally lives up to all the hype.

Warranty & Customer Service - Rectified
Purchased a Q220 + Stationary Cart from my local specialist dealer for just less than $600. Cooks alright, but less than 8 months in, the protective cover shielding the gas tank tears and breaks off. Called customer service, and told me to claim it on my House & Contents Insurance. Why should I have to spend $500 on insurance excess to fix something that should be covered under warranty?
Edit: [name removed] @ Weber has been a great help in organising the replacement part. Communication was clear and the part was received promptly. I have since updated my rating of their customer service.

Excellent Product
We spent months reading reviews and looking at different models of bar-b-ques prior to purchase. The $10 difference to get the larger hood and thermometer was well worth it as we use both constantly.
I was unsure how cooking with the hood down and turning once would work but the items tried so far have been just great. Pork cuts have been a bit dry and we have reduced the time from a suggested 8 minutes to 6 and it has resulted in a moister cook. I'm not sure weather it is as good as I achieve in a medium heat pan though.

Hi Leah, we have half-hotplate options available online here: https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/cooking/griddles/
We don't recommend a full hotplate for the grill as we believe you get better results with half grill, half hotplate. Hope that helps!
