Best bbq ever exceeded expectations
I absolutely love my weber q220 the best decision I have made.
4 years in and it still works like brand new can cook almost any dish with brilliant results.
I clean with water and wire brush after each cook, and remove grill every 6 months and clean and check gas ring.
Very simple and takes about 5mins.
If you are thinking off buying this product and are undecided, just do it you won't look back.
Only issue I've had was a little paint flaking on top of hood, rang customer care and they were very courteous and helpful, happppppppppppy days
Reliable and energy efficent

New to Weber Q220
I purchase the Weber Q220 after doing all my homework, about the Q100 and Q200 and Q300 reading very review page I found here then going to the weber specialist shop and looking and asking question, also going online to see what else I needed to know, what a lot of research you may say but in the end I am glad I did and well I got to say I then went and brought the weber Q220.
Just got to get used to leaving the lid down. I had a bbq lunch the other day and it was great

Love it
Owned the 220 almost a month. We've used it most days since we bought it and can't fault it. We've done pizza, roast, snags, steak and an assortment of other goodies. Except for a couple of newbie errors everything has been spot on.
Big enough for a small family to use as their main barbecue, but still mobile enough to take away.
Very versatile and efficient. Cooks well once you get used to the weber way.

I'd disagree on the side shelves. They are a thermo-set composite resin and are a real benefit to the Q. Fold them up for a compact pack-up. They slack under pressure so you don't accidentally overload them. Couldn't do without them.
I ended up removing mine. I was always afraid someone would put more on than they could handle. Having them gone gives better access to the table that we keep the Q on at home so it's a win/win. A ... Read more

Christmas Day Turkey Sucess!! Love love love our Weber Q
Hubby brought a 220 a few days before Christmas, we had great Sucess with steaks, bacon & eggs as well as pork rashers but our biggest test was today, Christmas Day!
I toyed with the idea of seasoning our 4kg bird with butter, bacon etc but hubby wanted to just add salt, pepper & veg oil 'keep it simple' he said.
I listened, wives sometimes listen!!
We checked it a few times this arvo, we were both a little nervous about drying our bird out.
When the birds Internal temp reached optimum level we dragged our bird into a platter & impatiently waited for it to rest!
Meanwhile we did tiger prawns marinated in garlic, olive oil and chilli!
Prawns - Sensational!
Turkey - succulent, tender & it just had the most amazing flavor!! ...Read more

Fit for purpose
Santa delivered the family the Q220.
Spent a few hours watching the you tube clips and a bit of reading before getting started.
Followed the instructions and like many family and friends were mightily impressed. Did a 3kg pork shoulder and it turned out perfectly cooked including great crackling. Used a meat temp probe to check when cooked to 77deg.
Keep in mind that this is not a BBQ plate like your standard four burner from the local hardware shop that you turn on and throw the snags on. It has its own set of rules you need to follow.

Great aftersales service!
Don't listen to any negative comments. Yes, the side tables are wonky and can't hold anything heavy but the customer service is impeccable! We had a problem with the burner and after trying to work it out over the phone, a technician came out and changed the burner. He didn't have to as it was our fault that we didn't clean it properly. They did not ask for 1 cent from us and assistance was above and beyond the call of duty. It's this type of aftersales service makes a person go back.

Shame about the cart
Have had the Q220 for 4 years now and really like the way it cooks. However, the only part of the stationary cart that isn't plastic has now rusted. When I enquired I was advised that the warranty on the cart was only 2 years, not 5. This is not obvious on the website until you look very closely for that information. So the BBQ itself is a great product; shame they couldn't make the whole cart plastic, and eliminate the metal tray at the base.
efficient, great taste

Q220 Great portable gas BBQ
I have had my Q220 for almost 4 years and it has served me very well. I use it at least once a week to cook anything from steaks, snags, roasts and Pork ribs. If used correctly, the Q220 is an excellent gas barbecue. It cooks food evenly and and is simple to use. I think the Q220 is definitely worth the extra $$ compared to the Q200 as the extra lid space for roasts is a must, the thermometer is very handy and the one button ignition is very convenient. The grill is also very easy to clean which is important for people like myself that have a ...Read more
small apartment balcony plus the Q220 is very efficient as I only need to change a 9kg gas bottle once a year. The Q220 will easily cater for a couple or a family of 4 people. Some things to be aware of, the plastic side tables are not very strong and won't hold a great deal of weight. They are fine for a bottle of oil, a small plate of food etc. Also try to keep the Q220 shielded from the wind as it does not respond very well to windy weather. The WeberQ series of BBQ's are fine for normal cooking however I would not recommend them for low and slow cooking as it is not possible to get the temperature below 150 degrees celsius. If you want to do low and slow cooking then consider another BBQ. I recommend the following accessories and any WeberQ: Weber BBQ Protective cover, Weber Roasting Trivet, and Weber wire cleaning brush. I'm very happy with Weber products and am looking forward to purchasing a Weber Kettle for my charcoal low & slow cooking. Even cooking, easy to clean, low maintenance, portable, efficient with Gas. The side trays don't feel strong enough.1 comment

A different way to BBQ
Our Xmas present to ourselves was a Q220 from BG. Whilst the BG staff need a personality infusion in their sales technique i.e. take it or leave it approach, the product itself is quite good. T-bone steaks and sausages are just great in the Q220. I would love to know how to cook baby back pork ribs on the Q220. In any case it's a new way of cooking, by what is ostensibly a gas convection oven, to an open grill.
The temptation is to look under the hood....don't. And it's all about timing. If you are well prep'd then things cook relatively qu...Read more
ickly. The one thing that bugs me a little is that more often than not I have to blow onto the gas when I acutate t 'electric' spark. I have the Q220 undercover and not in a windy position. Quality Control
Just to let new buyers aware of what to expect down the track ! I purchased my weber Q 220 about 2 1/2 years ago, Pros = It still cooks great. Cons =. The black paint has flaked off in small pieces at the front & rear of the unit, (now needs to be repainted ! by who?) The screws that hold the unit together (both BBQ & trolley assembly )are long rusted, except for 3 of them??? Only the heads are rusted at this point ! (ugly look though).
Again who will fix this problem ? We had the electric starter button disappear from the spring housi...Read more
ng (never found again ) still trying to source one ! You must Clean the lid often, when you do any closed cooking or roasting you will get build up of oils & fats on the inside of the lid, when you open it to let your food rest the oils & fats will run to the bottom of the lid then drip down onto your decking or on top your gas bottle ! it can get messy & seems like a design fault. Last of all the plastic foldout side trays were never practical & can cause spills when your unaware guests try to put a plate of food on them ! They still perform like they look, cheap plastic ! Just to add, at no time have I used any cleaning products that may have caused any of the above problems, nor do I live near a seaside or bay area. As I said though it still cooks fantastic food, I just feel that it's quality control is not up to standard for the name this product carries, considering the price I paid for it they could do better ! Ps. I too found the breakfast plate way over priced & unfortunately not within our budget.3 comments

carbon does build up on the inside of the lid over time and can look like flaking black paint, but actually just needs to be cleaned out thoroughly. Once again, this might not be the case for your unit - can I assure you that if the paint is flaking on the outside of the bowl then we will help. Might be best to shoot me an email so we can look into the issues you have with the unit (on quality) and also help with some of the cleaning issues you're experiencing. High Performing Smaller BBQ
Bought this BBQ yesterday and immediately cooked what seemed to be half a cow in it. As usual, my other half and I trawled through reviews, visited numerous stores, and looked at dozens of BBQs over several months before deciding on this one. My experience was generally positive with caveats.

Not perfect
This website states that a full colour cookbook comes with Weber 220.
We did not get a cookbook with ours. Why ?
The cook time recommended in the instructions was way too short.
The steak was undercooked and raw.
Don't like the way the fat drains into the cook box.
The BBQ emits large amounts of smoke when cooking takes place.
Fat drains into cook box. Should drain into a tray.

Firstly, I'm not sure whats going on with the fat draining issue, it would be good to get some more details to see what is going on - my email address is [email protected] or simply go to our head office in Adelaide who can help - free call 1300 301 290. You should have received a colour guidelines book, it's not a hard covered cookbook, but it does have heaps of info to get you off and running with the product - if you didn't get one, we'll send you out one straight away. It sounds like there are a few tips you would benefit from in order to get better results, raw steak certainly isn't what should happen - unless of cause you want it that way! :) There are also some "How To" instructional videos on our website which will help you get the best out of the Q - go to www.weberbbq.com.au and click on the Video Library link on the left hand side. Sandy2525 - YES you can convert it, but you will also need to contact our office on 1300 301 290 so they can arrange the parts and a technician to do the job. Great BBQing
I always hate dirty BBQs that just burn the food rather than cook it properly. I bought a Q220 for my mum at Xmas. It has been great to cook everything, we even cooked lobsters in it and they were just perfect, grilled but moist and so flavourful! It is very easy to use, just the right size and looks great too. A very well designed product that I highly recommend.
Cooks food really well, easy to use, looks great.

Terrific. Best BBQ I've ever owned and it has opened my eyes to just what an be one on the barbie. I used to be just a snags and steak guy and now I'm roasting, doing fish and all sorts.
I got the 220 with electronic starter and elevated lid (for roasting room) and built-in thermometer and have no regrets at all. Very easy to start and use and, in 4 months summer usage (i.e. frequent use) I have only had terrific food from it. Very economical with gas. I purchased a weber q220 around 10 months ago and im happy to say its not a bad product. I was originally going to buy the q200 model, but at a price difference of 10 bucks the higher roasting lid, the temperature gauge and the electric start defiantly worth the extra 10 bucks.
Its very efficient, using very little gas with every meal i've cooked on it (note to say; I've never really used it on full ball, 9/10 times cooking with lid closed) Im pretty confident to take on masterchef (if they let me bring my weber)

re are 2 stands to pick from the stationary stand and the rolling trolly stand. And after checking out the stationary stand, the rolling trolly stand is absolute rubbish, would rather set the weber on a table than that stand. And if you want the good stationary stand it comes at a premium price (for something thats made from a couple of pieces of molded plastic) I went with the stationary stand, the other drawback is the very poor quality fold out side tables, i dont put food on it because i dont think it can hold a plate of food, I used to have a beer sitting on it with my cooking prongs and after 10 months of use im sad to say the side tables have sagged to a point I cant put a beer on it without risk of it sliding off. Overall its a good bbq, also dont go by its recommendation for 8-10 adults its more suited to 4-5 adults. Efficient, great cooking grill, versatility Very poor quality side tables, expensive accessories1 comment

Perfect roasts!
I purchased the Weber Q 220E for Christmas to upgrade our old bbq which had no hood. We have been missing out, it cooks the perfect roasts and to die for pork bellies! I couldn't be happier with the results. It's easy to use, easy to clean and easy to pack away.
Cooks great food, small, gas efficient, easy cleaning, multiple accessories available, reasonably priced (only $10 more for 'special' model)
A little heavy and awkward to carry

You don't need to upscale to the family oriented Q300 if you cook for under 6-8 or need portability like this one, the Q220. We're also keen campers and look forward to taking it with us, 'though we bought the 'Premium' stand for home use. A FANTASTIC cooker with equally fantastic results. Also, after being disappointed with the service at BBQ's Galore, we were happy to find the Q220 available at 'specialist' outlets for little more outlay (the 220 has a higher hood for roasting purposes and temp gauge for $30 more.)

The Q220 comes with extra height and space for roasting. I am a convert. Previously i had a large bulky fancy 6 burner but the Q220 is quality over quantity. Simply put, its easy to set up and store (collapsable sides), quality parts ensure minimal maintenance and so easy to clean (simply lift out the grill and wipe down). I have noticed already the gas consumption is very good also. For those hesitating on price, i say you get value in the long run with this fine product.
quality aluminium finish (hood), easy storage and cleaning.
somewhat "weak" retractable/collapase side shelves. All grill only, breakfast plate extra.

Hi Leah, we have half-hotplate options available online here: https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/cooking/griddles/
We don't recommend a full hotplate for the grill as we believe you get better results with half grill, half hotplate. Hope that helps!
