Similar to other reviews, this fridge does not respond to thermostat changes.
Can't get colder than 7 degrees and rear panel is iced up around the small centre fan.
Based on other reviews, I am hesitant to get a repair man to look at it and be told that it's not repairable and pay his call out fee on top of it all.
Westinghouse or Electrolux as it appears now should be accountable and stand by their products, it is pathetic that they only offer a two year warranty on fridges, older fridges go for 40 years. not happy Electrolux !

Dud Fridge
Bought this fridge in May 2012 and its now dead. Fridge mechanic said it had a pinhole leak and it wasn't worthwhile fixing. Cant believe that a fridge in this day and age lets me down so soon. Called the service center in Sydney and they said because i didn't get their fridge mechanic to look at it they were not prepared to assist. Dud service all round, Will never Buy a Westinghouse appliance for the rest of my life!

Terrible
I purchased this refrigerator in October 2011. In December 2015 it began freezing up.
1. No it does not maintain a good temperature in any compartments.
2. It was louder than it should have been while it was freezing everything, then it quietened and stopped cooling altogether.
3. Easier to clean is subjective - easier than what? There were never leaks/spills that were not instantly cleaned up.

Everything Freezes or is too warm
I purchased this Fridge 2 years ago to keep drinks in. The back wall ices up constantly. If you move the temperature knob 1 mm the temperature changes drastically. We have had to put up with warm drinks or frozen drinks we have had exploding cans, frozen bottles. I really think one day I will go on here and read someone has been seriously hurt from a drink exploding as someone opens the door to one of these death traps.

Not impressed with Westinghouse fridges at all - were good once but not anymore!!!!
Purchased the above (not sure of model no as I am at work) but apparently Westinghouse WRM2400WD is the latest model to our - Our fridge was only purchased in January 2013 - just as well I took out additional warranty as the fridge died first week in October and when the technician called to inspect he said he didn't think it was repairable and would be replaced (computer program). Today I received a phone call from the Good Guys (whom we purchased it from) to advise that it was not repairable and we would be receiving a credit of $501 to purch...Read more
ase another fridge so it is going to cost us around $300 to replace with the difference in the cost (fridge is now $629 plus for additional warranty and delivery) - you would expect a fridge to last longer than 2 years and 9 months. I think I will be looking at another brand as this the second Westinghouse fridge we have had trouble with - WHS 200L only lasted about the same time, so now we are looking at buying a third fridge to go next to the freezer (shock horror the freezer is still going) - yes we originally started out with a pigeon pair BUT THE NEXT FRIDGE WE BUY WILL DEFINATELY NOT BE A WESTINGHOUSE.!!Similar opinion? A fridge that only lasts 2 years!
Purchased in November 2012. The temperature control of the fridge has always been poor but it did the basic job.
Lasted two and a half years. Warranty only lasts for 2 years. How convenient.
Like many others, the compressor was running 24/7 but not cooling the interior.
This fridge must be made to last two years only
I thought the Westinghouse brand meant quality. Obviously they do not care about the consumer!!
I can guarantee the following:
1. No more Westinghouse fridges (and I will tell everyone I know the same)
2. Before I buy another fridge I am going to read reviews first rather than just listen to some saleperson in the store

2 year fridge
Like many others, I've found this fridge is substandard, not fit for purpose, and suspect it is designed to fail completely shortly after the 2 year warranty expires. Just three weeks after the warranty ran out the compressor began making noise, ran continuously, and didn't cool the food..and prior to failure?
According to the booklet you get with the fridge the moisture that appears on the 'wet wall' cooling system should 'evaporate normally' - but it didn't..it leaked out the front of the fridge and ran out all over the kitchen floor - as t...Read more

Absolutely an unreliable fridge absolute rubbish
We brought a Westinghouse WRM2400WC fridge 29 January 2013
It is impossible to keep this fridge within the correct temperature range . We used a Fluke digital readout to monitor the temperature on this WRM2400WC fridge for many months. The fridge was always to cold or to warm. At 0.3 Deg C causes the vegetables to be destroyed / Glass bottles cracking / eggs freezing or the temperature increasing to 7 Deg C and then the milk curdles before the use by date.
Adjusting the thermostat so gently causes a large difference in temperature to this W...Read more

The worst fridge purchase we ever made
Bought the pigeon pair in 2010. Have had nothing but trouble with them both. Temperature very hard to control, either too hot or too cold. Freezer drawers all broken due to the cold temperatures. The REAL Problem is now the Fridge has stopped working. The Motor and fan still works but we think the thermometer is gone. Considering we have only had it for 4 and a half years this is really disappointing. To replace new is over $600 which I don't have and I don't think we should pay a repair man at least $300 to repair it when it is not our fault and the fridge has been well looked after. Would not buy one again

A shocking fridge
I bought the WRM2400WC about 2 years ago with the side by side freezer. The condensation is awful and I always seem to have water seeping out at the bottom trays. I have adjusted the temperature numerous times to no avail and have continual problems with food going off well before its use by date. Don't know whether it's worth having it looked at judging by othe people's comments. I also have problems with the freezer freezing more at the top end than the bottom.

Will never buy this brand again!
We purchased the WFM1800WC upright freezer in 2010. It has been 'repaired' twice under warranty as it freezes too much at the top, and not enough at the bottom. Apparently that is what they are supposed to do?? Obviously now that it is out of warranty the store that I bought it from has washed their hands of it. Anyway, when our fridge needed to be replaced because we already had a freezer it was logical just to get the matching pigeon pair fridge, yes? NO!! We purchased the WRM2400WC in 2012 I think and have no end of trouble with it either! T...Read more
he temperature switch is not accurate - you either freeze everything or it is not cold enough and the milk goes off. The drain in the bottom is constantly blocked because it swaps from icy to thawed out on a daily basis, so the water builds up and leaks out the front. I cannot take it back to the store as it was the same store where we bought the freezer and they now no longer service our rural area. We can't afford to replace these appliances, so I just have to continue to wipe out the bottom of the fridge daily and defrost the freezer every two months until we can! Just wanted to let everyone know.... touchy temperature controls on both fridge and freezer1 comment

Disappointing fridge
I bought the WRM2400WC in June 2010 and now just over 3 years later it has failed. The compressor runs, light comes on, fan works, and the compressor turns off and on when I turn off the thermostat and then on again. The only problem is the fridge doesn't cool. It stays at room temperature!!
Although parts are still covered under warranty labour is not. It looks to me as if the fridge's cooling tubes have leaked or have a blockage so to repair this would be a labour intensive job and therefore expensive. No point spending good money after bad...Read more

Westinghouse brand stands for nothing
This fridge has completely failed inside 3.5 years. It has not been moved at all since it was delivered. The costs of on site service to apply parts still covered under warranty are very prohibitive. A terrible customer experience, dealing with the fridge and inept customer service staff. Avoid this brand.

Great for my unit!
I bought the Westinghouse WRM2400** and found it to be very quiet and functional.Considering the price $550 from my local electrical store, i am very happy with the performance of this product.Initially i was concerned with the condensation on the rear wall, then read the information sheet explaining that this was normal and demonstrates that the fridge is operating correctly.Overall a great buy and pleased with its performance.
Very quiet,simple design,inexpensive
Vegetable/fruit compartment too small for my needs.Needs a warning regarding the condensation

Disappointed
Westinghouse was a good fridge brand in my mind until our most recent experience.
It is not value for money when spending $500 for a fridge that last less than 3 years of use with higher cost in buying veggies that start to rot due to regular frost.
The temperature is unstable and control dial is extremely sensitive. Even a half marker tuning will lower temperature from +6 Degrees Celsius to -3. Of the 5 fridges I have bought in my lifetime so far, we have never had to throw out any vegetable due to frost and defrost until this fridge ca...Read more
me along. If you are looking to eat loads of veggies and very fast, this is the fridge for you as you cannot keep veggies for more than 4 days or they will rot on you. However, this problem for us stopped after 2.5 years. A gas leak started after only 2.5 years.Temperature we get now is between 8 Deg Celsius and as high as 15 Degree Celsius even at the Coldest mark. I have to use two ice pack on rotation for my milk everyday or face the milk turning sour. The Compressor now runs 24x7 instead of cutting off when the temperature is reached. So another higher electric bill coming soon. There is a standard two year warranty. Out of Warranty call out fee is $134!!! Although it includes labor cost, it is before cost of parts. I am quoted $300 to stop the gas leak as it is an internal evaporator and access means dismantling of other parts to get to it.1 comment

Absolutely appaling fridge
Westinghouse is a terrible brand, and this fridge (silver single fridge, no freezer) is pathetic. We bought it as a 'temporary' fridge after we moved into our house as we will be renovating the kitchen sometime over the next few years. Someone recommended Westinghouse to us because "they are a local brand so service etc should be fine". So we bought this fridge and a Westinghouse gas cooktop. Both have been nothing but problems, but the fridge in particular is pathetic. It has one, tiny plastic fan at the back to circulate air. The fridge...Read more
itself is so poorly made, unless the thing is absolutely_dead_level it will buzz incessantly . We had the service guy out and he said this was normal. The thermostat inside is ultra sensitive :a tiny bit too low and everything is warm ..... a tiny bit too high (eg 1mm of turn on knob) and everything is frozen : i.e. fruit frozen and bottles exploding in the fridge JOKE ! This fridge wasn't even cheap : $770 for a small fridge with no freezer. We flogged it on ebay, and spent $900 on a much larger LG with a freezer : whisper quite, superb performance (fans and cooling vents everywhere), plus a freezer. Westinghouse : you are a joke of a brand. Nothing like you use to be. It's silver Everything : poor circulation, buzzing, expensive, made on a shoe-strong4 comments

Westinghouse fridge WRM2400WC icing up around fan. Runs continually. Seal looks OK. Drain clear. Turned off to deice but after 30 mins panel top left starting creaking and bowing into the fridge. Turned fridge back on and rear panel went back into place. Still icing up. Have checked rear is clear of fluff etc. Is there anything I can do? Or is a case of new fridge? I live in a rural area so it will be expensive to get technician and looking at comments, likely that it will be a new fridge required. It's not that old either.

Hi mate,
If it's already out of warranty, bad luck, get a new one. Not worth fixing at all. It will come back after you get it fix anyway.
Cheers
My saga would take too long to type but, errmm, buy a new fridge.
I paid for the service call to determine the fridge was buggered, it was a year out of warranty. Too'd and fro' and accepted a replacement unit for a tad under $300, plus $130 service call. Same week Aldi had 240ltr fridge identical to old Westinghouse (new one isn't the same and isn't as useful) for the disgusting price of ******, and a hundred or so less than the total I paid out to Electrolux.
The point of the exercise is not service or response times, it's the fact that a cheap product that is highlighted as having a light, great lol, will only last a very short time. A product that, and I quote from an Electrolux representative that costs thousands cannot be expected to last long either because of all the bells and whistles included means that it will guarantee that it will fail within or without the warranty period and nobody is surprised in either case.
Yes, seems like new fridge is the only answer. Sigh! Have six year warranty. Fingers crossed!

Hi
Our fridge is creating a build up of ice on the back wall around the fan. Would you please advise the likely cause and best option for resolving the problem. The fridge is around 3 years old.

Hi Alan, My Mums Westinghouse WRM2400WC White fridge had the same issue with the back wall icing up around the Fan area.I think their is nothing you can do about it, thats just the normal operation of this fridge. My Mums Westighouse WRM2400WC fridge only lasted just over 2 years and 2 months so you doing well getting past 2 years with your Westinghouse WRM2400WC fridge
