Happy with the machine but not happy with the newer coffee pods
I have had the expressi machine for a few months now and am very happy in general with it. I started to get trouble after I bought two new pack of coffee pods which most of the hot coffee flowed to the used pod container instead of the cup. I read other people reviews and they also had the same problem. One of them said this is because the newer pods have thicker container and had to be pierced several times for the machine to work as normal. So now I have to pierce it a few time by moving the lever half way 2x or 3x to have all the coffee flow to the cup. Someone from Aldi needs to talk to the pod makers and have the old style back!

Rubbish machine.
The Aldi coffee tastes good - the machine that makes it is rubbish. We have had ours for 3 months and now have the same problem as everybody else here. We called the service number in the manual they tell us we have to descale this machine every month. Our previous machine had given us 6 years of use and only got descaled once - that was a Nespresso - I guess you get what you pay for. We changed to the Aldi machine because I shop there every couple of weeks and it is much easier to purchase their pods. Do not buy this Expressi Machine it is a total waste of money.

No where near as good as the old model.
I'm about to return my second one. It has failed with the same problem everyone describes. It doesn't always happen, but often little water goes through the pod and it drops into the waste pod container. This is the same fault the first one had.
I had the old machine for several years and it was always perfect. Unlike someone said above, this is not through misuse. It is a flaw in the 2016 machine.
I thought the coffee from the old machine was tasting funny, so I bought a new one. Turns out they'd changed the formula to a new "More Intense" o...Read more

Not happy.
Water runs into used pod container. Only getting half an inch of coffee. Was told by Melbourne office to eject pod and start again. Should not have to do that. Not what you want to hear. Not happy at all with the new machine. Coffee is great when you can get a decent cup.

Most of the coffe goes into the used capsule container
When it worked it made great tasting coffee and there are plenty of different varieties of coffee capsules available. It is a good looking machine and is quick and easy to use. BUT - the first machine started getting more coffee in the used capsule container than in the cup so I contacted the number for returns as per the instruction book and were bluntly told by the miserable lady on the Kruger ANZ no-help desk, after a row over the model number (there is no model number), that as the machine was more than 3 months old (it was 3 months and 19 ...Read more
days) I would have to return it to the Sydney repairer for repair or replacement. No Kruger ANZ - check up on Australian consumer law! I took it back to the Aldi where it was purchased and top marks to them they replaced it with no hassle. Unfortunately the new machine does exactly the same so it is going back to Aldi for a refund.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not as good as the original, disappointed.
When it was time to replace our Aldi expressi we toyed with trying another brand that used the same sized capsules but because we had liked the features of the older model we assumed that the new one would be as good at least.
How wrong we were.
For a start when inserting the full water canister in where it fits I find it quite awkward as there's really nothing to grasp while putting it in place and I had visions of water spilling everywhere.
Secondly it doesn't hold as much water in the tank as the old model. Not to mention that it's impos...Read more

Not a patch on the old model
I liked the look of the new Aldi machine so bought a red 2016 model and mothballed the old one. Big mistake!
Half the coffee ends up in the used pod container so to get a decent coffee I had to use 2 pods. Slow, and not hot enough. I took it back today for a refund and reinstated the old one.

Give me back the old model!
Bad bad bad... As another review stated, hard to expel spent capsules, is not hot enough (add milk and it's warm coffee at best). Water reserve smaller and it is hard to see the water level and is noisy, sounding very tinny when starting off. The model is more about the outer design than focusing on the internal to deliver a good coffee... in this case you get what you pay for :/

Annoyingly Flawed!!
Annoying differences from previous model:
Capsules are very difficult to expel after use; they don't just fall through as in the previous model. (I'm having to use fingers to push the capsule through, messy and unpleasant). The water reservoir is tinted, so you have to remove it, to see how much is left. The temperature is too low to produce good espresso. The water reservoir is smaller, so must be refilled more often. UPDATE - Returned first one of these as it was not working properly. The replacement
worked mostly, though with same flaws. NOW, I'm going to throw out the replacement, as coffee continually
dribbles into the overflow tray instead of the cup!!!! A different product from the first generation.

Questions & Answers
Bethasked
I was unable to remove the used pod container from my machine for many months, & eventually stopped trying. After about a year of disuse, I mentioned the problem to someone, this afternoon, & showed them how the container is supposed to be removed, so they could have a go, and as I did so, the container just came straight out, no problems! I gather it was because the coffee had become totally dehydrated over time, and so the pods had shrunk back down, so they no longer filled the available space...!
Anyway, I plugged my machine back in, filled up the water container, and tried to run the clean water through the machine. Although the 3 lights came on, then 2 went off (as they’re supposed to) leaving the milk/rinse button’s light on, when I pressed the button, nothing happened. I’ve tried all 3 buttons, and have tried with & without a pod in the machine, but nada! It doesn’t make a sound, either, so the water isn’t even heating up! Any suggestions as to what the problem might be, or how I might be able to get my Expressi machine working again?
Any help would be much appreciated!

How old is the machine ? Honestly from your story you probably need to go out and buy a new machine. Especially if it is not under warranty anymore. I have just bought the latest machine at Aldi and it is fabulous ! A lot quieter than the original one I purchased a few years back.
