Angelcare movement monitor states " senses movement". Does this movement include breathing? Might sound like a silly question but if you have a new born and they are fast asleep then they won't be moving as in wriggling around. Want to clarify if the " movement" covers breathing in and out?

Thanks

It covers movement. If baby is in bassinet their breathing is picked up as movement (as I used it from newborn with all mine in a bassinet and it worked - not sure about cot as the mattress is thicker and baby at newborn is small) however if baby is not breathing but having a seizure of something it won't pick up that the baby needs help as baby is moving. I think there is one company that have a sock that works as a heart rate monitor so alarms will go off if baby isn't breathing. Hope this helped

Hi Charne,

Thanks for your message and to Kylie for giving some insight.

The weight of bub is irrelevant, as you can control the sensitivity on the pad :)

I have purchased a brand new AC401. When set up without batteries in the nursery unit, it works perfectly. However, if I put AAA non-rechargable batteries in the nursery unit for backup incase of power failure the nursery unit starts to heat up. Within minutes of being turned on and connected to the mains power the temperature display on the parent unit went from 22c to over 30c, but the actual room temperature did not change. So the nursery unit was heating up. After I removed the batteries, it cooled down to correct room temperature. Is the unit faulty?

Does anyone know which way the sensor should be installed. The writing stating - this side up - is on the white side of the sensor however, after reading the manual is states that the logo (blue side) should face up. The instructions on the sensor contradicts whats written in the manual. Any help would be great thanks.

Thank you for your enquiry.
Over the years the colors of the sensor pads have changed. Please place the side up which it is printed.

Hi I have a friend who's 8 year old has seizures. I have a spare monitor and pad, would this work for her?

2 answers
Kylie
Kylie

I would probably say no, as most monitors won't pick up the seizures as they are seen as movement. She would be able to hear but that's it.

Angelcare
Valiant B.Angelcare

Hi Laura.
Angelcare recommends using the sensor pads for up to 2 years of age.
The sensor pads monitor movement, and not seizures unfortunately.
You will not be able to use this system.
I apologize for this inconvenience.

Google the model number for manual instructions in you don't have them. But the face and three sqiggly line need to be selected. Just remember you will need to turn monitor off from bubs room and your otherwise alarms will go off when bub isn't in the cot.

Angelcare
Valiant B.Angelcare

Hi Hayley.
You will need to go into the settings and make sure the face and the waves are selected, then you will need to select this and confirm.
Please refer to your instruction manual, or contact me on (03) 9581 8034 and I will be able to talk you through this on the phone.

Just wondering if there is any way to turn off the alarm sound in the nursery unit. I have the AC401 and have followed the instructions on page 21 but it only seems to change the alarm settings on the parent unit (vibrate, sound, vibrate +sound).

The alarm in the nursery should only go off if the handset is still selected. If the 3 lines with dots next to the face and 3 sqiggly lines are lit on your monitor then you haven't un selected it.

Angelcare
Valiant B.Angelcare

Hi Decinta.
You are able to use the monitor as a sound only unit by selecting just the face icon in the settings.
You can not have the movement function turned on but not have the alarm sounding on the nursery unit if it needs to go off. This is a safety setting, made to alert the baby if it has stopped breathing.

Hi, I bought a Angelcare monitor AC601. However, it is not transmitting any sound. I have tried all troubleshooting suggestions, still no luck. How do I go about getting this unit tested? Based in South Africa and bought the unit from a local pharmacy.

Oh I'm not too sure. On mine I just turn the volume sensitivity up on bubs monitor and the turn the volume up on mine.
Maybe have a look at this if you haven't...

Hi I purchased a angelcare monitor module Ac601 and plugged it in yesterday. The first day home from hospital. I checked everything twice and tested the pad without baby on it, the alarm works. But that's the only thing that does work. There is no ticking noise and it is not communicating with the parent unit . Surly there is something wrong here? What should I do?

Hi there. Our AC401 worked fine a couple of days ago. All of a sudden it does not pick up the breathing pad or broadcast sound. Setting are as they should be. Batteries are new and charged. I have resynced the units. And tried different channels. When you switch it on it connects, shows the channel and temperature. But no broadcasting. Any help?

Where do you put the main unit as I’m worried as my daughter has put it in the bassinet just up from bubs heads he is 2 weeks old.

1 answer

Ally B

Hi julie, i put the main unit on the floor, that way there is no way for bub to reach the long cord (strangulation risk) also the light doesn't shine directly on her. I also wrapped the cord from the sensor pads around a leg of the cot several times so no risk of her pulling that through and strangling. I find i can hear every little sound still, it even activates when i make sounds in the next room so it is very sensitive. I used it in a bassinet too, please ask more questions if that doesn't make sense.

We used this monitor fine for a couple of years. It worked well, and we were very happy with it. - year later we’ve stared using it again, and the batteries will not hold charge. I’ve swapped the brand new batteries (same battery type - NiMH, and reputable brand), and still have the same issue - I only an hour out of the monitor when off it’s cradel. This is therefore clearly an issue with the monitor rather than the batteries. does any one know if there is a way to resolve this?

Hi, I have angel care model AC401 we brought it in 2012 haven't used it for about 3 years I've had another baby so we've got it out of storage. We brought new rechargeable batteries & we can see its charging but when we take it off the charger it won't turn on, are you able to help me please? My email address is [email protected] Chris

I found this with a unit that was in storage, i put fresh batteries in and it still didn't turn on. Dead as. I put it in the cradle and noticed the charger icon came on so left it for the day, the next day it was working perfectly. Another tip is if the battery goes dead flat charge them in an actual battery charger as the receiver unit isn't as powerful and needs a kick start, i also leave the receiver in the cradle on my bedside all day/night unless i'm carrying it around obviously.
