Rude Service
I just called Bayswater and the lady who answered the phone mumbled so badly that I didn't know what she said, then I heard a clank and the phone was put on the counter and I could hear her serving someone. I waited patiently for quite a bit of time and when she picked up there was no apologies, very short and very rude. She then cut me off and told me they couldn't help me and hung up! I'm a travel agent and will be keeping away from them. Perhaps they save on rates by having staff that don't give a hoot about their employment.

As I have frequented Bayswater before, I thought this is the standard way of renting cars in Australia. Only after I rented a car from Europcar that I realised that Bayswater has an excellent worry-free service. Europcar charged me for fuel even when I have just fill it full a couple of kms from the airport. I never encountered such thing with Bayswater.

i have used these guys 5 or 6 times now and they are very good, i highly recommend them. very friendly and efficient. and they are very reasonably priced too. i have had some very bad experience with Car rental companies in the past, in particular Hertz but i would recommend these over there competition any day of the week.

I read a lot of bad reviews on this website regarding bayswater, so I was very careful. I checked over the car and found a scratch under the front of the car where someone had run up a gutter.. And noted that down before taking the car.
I had my 5month old son with me, the lady at the desk was very friendly and even helped me put all of my luggage into the car.
The car itself was amazing to drive! My 3 day rental ended up being extended multiple times to just over 2 weeks as I did not want to part with the zippy corolla that is excellent

I did not Hire a Car but had one of their hire cars reverse into my car at no fault of ours. The driver gave false details. Luckily there where photo's taken of the car number plate which we tracked down to Bayswater Car rental. When I called the Perth branch, the lady on the phone was very short and rude. Very, very, very rude people behind the desk. I'm a police officer in the eastern states and would have complaints straight to my sergeant if i spoke to people the way we were spoken to. Unfortunately we got a small parking ticket on our stay which was left on the window, my girlfriend had 28 days to pay, but after 17 days I had $25 extra taken off my account for a processing fee. I still cant understand where this fee would come from as we still had plenty of time to pay, and the ticket was served on us. I understand what i signed into, but as many have said, cash grab company and you must be careful.

Went to the Perth City one and hired a car for 7 day after my car accident left the car parked in a government parking and came bak to it damaged called them the next day to say hey it's damaged they then proceeded to say that's fine as long as u have the incident details

Booked car in October from NZ to use on our 2 week holiday in WA. Much to our surprise went to pick car up from the Subiaco office and were told rudely by the staff as we were more then 30min late no car for us! We were faced with trying to find a replacement car Xmas Eve. Don't risk it use another company.

Shocking service!
First time I went into Bayswater Car rentals was to book a rental car, the customer service was fine and my partner and I were told that for 5 days the cost would be $285, we were happy with that as thrifty had told us $240 + $34 per day to reduce the excess damage, so we decided to go for Bayswater Car Rentals. ... Read moree forgot. The customer service is shocking, they claim they have no hidden charges and lied, when we got in the car, the floor was dirty and there was crumbs all over the drivers seat. The car was also chugging a lot and would not start on one occasion! When we called up to say there was something wrong with the car, they said if we brought it down they would give us a new one, not taking into consideration the car would not start. They took our excess damage of $50 because there was a scratch on the back passenger door which we had told them about before we took the car! I hired a car from Bayswater and unfortunately had an accident which i was at fault for. Bayswater took the excess from my credit card. Then had the audacity not to repair the hired car or pay the damages for the liable party. This company is dodgy beyond belief, the ACCC should be looking into them and shut them down. They slug anyone that has an accident at fault or not. Im sure they would lodge a claim with their insurer and they would give them a faultless excess, but they are pocketing and making a profit from the excess.

Great Car!!! Great Price!!! RUDEST WOMAN IN THE OFFICE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. We booked on the phone, hired the car and returned the car all without incident. We were polite and happy and the RUDE woman managed to GRUNT 12 words to us in the whole 3 step process. I cannot belive that someone so RUDE can keep their job. I owned and operated a car rental company in brisbane for 10 years and wouldn't have EVER spoken to anyone in this manner. NO words can describe how revolting this WOMAN was.

Took $25 From my CC After car return
Rented a new Corolla for 1 week Returned 2 hours before time,Took it with 3/4 tank returned it full. On return all was found good condition my $50 deposit was returned but not my blank CC slip they make u sign was not returned.@ weeks later they filled it out for $125 & cashed it nothing I can do.These people are penny pinches grumpy & rude.I am lucky they could have filled it up for $1000 & there would be nothing I could do.Never pre sign a blank CC form & go to a national brand car rental company pay a bit more & don't get cheated

I really wish I'd checked reviews before I booked in with these guys. The vehicle itself was great, really economical and a great drive however that's where the positives end.

Avoid. Cheap and Nasty. This business is run on a shoestring and the staff are not customer focussed. you might save a couple of dollars on the rental, the hassle of dealing with the staff is a real turn off. They have no idea of how to keep a customer happy.

In September 2012, I did a comparison of available car rental prices for our holiday in Perth. We chose a Toyota Corolla from Bayswater Car Rental and took a taxi from the airport to their depot in Bayswater that cost about $20 each way. They offered a GPS for $6 a day extra but you could almost buy one after 2 weeks at that rate.

When we checked back in, we walked out of the door and a taxi was waiting to take us to the airport. A month after returning home I found the refund of my excess paid back to the credit card. Their depot is not flash and their customer service not exciting, but their price is unbeatable. The chart below shows my September 2012 cost comparison for 13 days and shows the cost to wave the excess. Rented a car, was all happy until I returned it and was told there was "damage " to the front bumper. Looked at the so called damage. Was a tiny scratch, apparently this has to go to the Panel beaters to be fixed and I would have to pay the cost.
Luckily I had taken out top cover which meant I only had to pay $50.
When I originally inspected the car I was told paint chips are fine so thought Nothing of it.
I bet they do this to every second customer :(

Worst car rental in Sydney !!!
I booked a car online and found they offered a bus from airport to car yard to collect car which stated a 20 min trip. Well that wasn't the case we travelled for over an hour eating into our holiday time. When we arrived the service was worse as they were rude and spoke to us like second rate customers. The manager was worse when we spoke to him he was rude after we told him how long the bus ride was. He replied well what do you expect for 5 dollars and followed by saying do you want the rental or not!

When returning your car, leave at least an extra hour to get lost. This is, without question, the most difficult-to-get-to rental car return location that I have ever encountered. In addition, the shuttle return trip to the airport took much longer than needed due to the driver taking back roads to avoid tolls.

Nightmare
It all started to go wrong at the beginning. When I picked the car up the woman was in a rush to get me through all the paperwork. Even when I started to read the contract on the back before I signed she tried to rush me through it.
Then when I brought the car back I was told I was late bringing it back and I would have to pay extra. I told them I didn’t have time to read the contract correctly because the original woman had rushed me through and they just didn’t seem to care.

Our car had several dents and scratches on it which we noted on the inspection before renting the car. What we didn't do was check under the car, but neither did the staff member. We were charged $400 for this damage which we did not do. Extremely bad service when the man who charged us was smirking throughout the whole process. They are cheap for a good reason - they will charge you in other ways, and they have a bad attitude. Deal with this company at your own risk!!!

Online Booking Confirmation approved on Wednesday 13th June 2012 for Auto Hatch Back pick-up at 8am Monday 18th June. First comment from lady serving was that they do not open until 8am and head office should not be taking bookings for 8am pick-ups....we did not need to be told this. We did not ask for an up-grade, we booked and confirmed we wanted a Hatch Back! We did not want to bother her further as we had such a bad experience we just wanted to get on with our day, so we just left the booking as the sedan. She / they did not pull the car pull the car out of the car park for us, it was parked extremely close to another car, I had to squeeze into the car & pull the car out for my mother in law as these people obviously were not interested in doing so. I have rented upwards of 30 cars over past 2 years, with Avis and Budget and never had such poor service. This is a review on the staff member, we are assuming the company does not provide such bad service as they would not be as successful as they are with their business in WA. Hopefully 'No Birds/Bayswater' will read this and provide the rostered staff memebr with Customer Service training and stress the importance of looking after clients. We all have bad days, but when dealing with front line desk work you need to put that aside and deal witht the clients requirements. I think in future I would rather pay a little more per day in rental cost for good pleasant service. Hopefully the staff memebr will be in a better mode when my mother in law return's the vehicle at 10am in 10days time. We read the poor reviews about Bayswater and were a bit skeptical about hiring a car from them, but their cheap prices won us over, 200 AUD for a week's hire seems a bargain! I have to say that we had no problems with them at all. They seem to be cool about very minor paint marks and scuffs, and as long as you give the car a once over before you drive it away and point out any damage on the hire form, things should be good.

I would have no hesitation to hire from this company again. The Sydney office is very central and easy to find.
Hired on line, from England, very easy. Car like new 800km. Did small scuff to bumper (10p size). The guy checked it out on return, said thats ok. I thought it was going to cost me the 300$. Thats what I call very fair. The hire rate was reasonable. Staff were friendly except one young lady, she was like winning a rattle snake in a lucky dip.
We hired another car with 3400km. This was not so clean on the inside (feet marks on seat, doors, dash board. Now this is down to the bad attitude the hirer has to the vehicle. But I do think the company should make an extra effort for the next person. Some of use look after nice equiptment.

I've hired from them a few times in Sydney and found them good. In November I went to Perth and hired one to go to Margaret River. I was amazed that every second car down there seemed to be a Bayswater car! Unfortunately I hit a kangaroo, smashing the headlight and bonnet. When I returned the car their staff were good - charging me the excess $250 and not making any big fuss. It was a good experience from a potentially expensive circumstance.

I have never come accross such a poor company. THe staff are absolutely terrible and disinterested. I have been on the receiving end of many call hang ups and this is absolutely disgraceful. How can you operate with such disgusting service. Absolutely Shameful. All i wanted was an invoice to show a record that they had extended my rental and after 5 phone calls over 3 days, all i get is a load of [censored word removed] and unfullfilled promises.

1)daily rates looks cheap, too bad you can't rent on daily basis, min. weekly
2)unless u insist on the older than one year old car, they will automatically give you a "brand new" one and charge you 5 dollars extra.
3)so called free pick up service from the airport, it took nearly three hours to get me from international airport (sydney) to their depot with a free around the sydney milk run while the driver deliver other passengers, since i'm free its obviously no priority.
4)extra charge of 100 if you want to take it interstate, simple math

Bayswater in Sydney were very handy for us when we needed to cover a few days between cars. Because they only have Corollas they are way cheaper than any other car rental which suited us fine.
The car we got was reliable and worked well. It wasn't terribly clean though. There was dirt on the floor mats and it hadn't been washed before we got it. There were even some used drink straws in the boot.

The 20 dollar/day advertised price is just the beginning. For overseas drivers, add $10/day for overseas driver's licence. Then there's the insurance coverage (another $10/day extra for coverage).

My guess is that this fee in our case (4% each way) totalled over $200. Enough to turn an apparently moderately priced short term car rental into a rip off. Bayswater car rental is opperated in a fashion unlike anything i have ever come accross....they are fine if you don't have an issue....i was involved in accident...they charged my card for the excess but are now not paying up on the insurance. Had used them many many times before...now all i can say is DO NOT USE THEM!

What a horrendous experience. They gave my reservation away on the fear that I might not show up. They admitted this. She admitted they were very busy and gave my reservation away. I tried to communicate my needs to them and they were totally unwilling to help me. They treat you like you are scum. Go elsewhere and get some descent service. What a pity - they have a good business model (only rent two models of car, all white at seeminly reasonable rates). Hit me up for all sorts of extra charges.

Looked for a cheap car rental. Found bayswater Perth. The staff gives key with some 'x' marks on yellow receipt. Normally that refers to dents or scratch. Staff didn't physically took us to view the car but just handover the key instead.
Notice corrolla bonnet shelf was missing. Drive the car anyway. How am I suppose to know if it should be there? When returned the car, bayswater claim I lost the shelf and took my $300 deposit.

I hired a car for 14 days in Sydney, and it came up about $60 cheaper than all the other competitors. I looked at all the price comparison sites before and surprisingly Bayswater wasn't listed. Glad I made the effort to check out their website.
Got the car promptly and could return the car after hours no problem. I found a lot of negative reviews here and I was surprised as this wasn't my experience at all. Maybe they decided to up their customer service?
