Hello, thank you for your enquiry. You can certainly divide the blinds down to fit the window. This is best done by the amount of panels on your window, so if you have 3 panels of glass, do not order 2 blinds, as this will result in the gap between the two blinds going over the glass and not the frame, 3 blinds are best etc.

Hi,
We need three translucent honeycomb blinds approximately1200x2100 for our sliding glass windows/door onto a deck. I would like them recessed at the two sides and top but obviously they will just have to hang side by side across the area. Having three separate blinds is not ideal aesthetically but necessary so as to use the door.
How do I order them? The total width of the window area is 3610 x 2100 high.
We will also need the same blinds for another window/door.
Are the ICM blinds not translucent at all?
Looking forward to your advice.

Matthew W.Blinds Online

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your inquiry, our translucent blinds differ from the standard light filtering blinds as they are see through.

At this time the translucent range is only available through our Australian manufacturer and so comes with a chain winder control.

It's worth noting that to comply with Australian safety standards you'll need the chain for the blinds, especially the centre blind, to be secured to the wall/ window frame or short enough to hang more than 1600mm off the floor.

To order your three blinds data enter them as separate blinds, then when you are going through the checkout write us a note in the order comments box saying that all three blinds are together in one recess, and provide us with the total recess size.

There's no need for you to make any deductions we will do all of this for you.

The order comments box is also the place to specify the chain length, should you need to order the shorter length option.

If I can be of further assistance please let me know.

Hi we have a very hot room that gets alot of sun especially in summer. It is on the high side of the house (would be double story height) can you suggest an awning that would work for this need? It would not have to be adjusted up and down if it needs to be fixed-but we are on a hill so it does get windy as well. Thank you

I cannot say for sure - we have a similar situation here but the problem was solved more than thirty years ago with fixed aluminium awnings right across the northern side of the house, approximately 15 metres. The awning drops from the outer edge of the eaves (from the fascia board, actually) and provides great protection as well as air flow in the 600mm gap between the awning and walls. We also have Blinds Online block-out vertical blinds for windows/doors on the northern, eastern and southern side, both upstairs and down, which almost completes our escape from the blistering summer heat in Brisbane. The remainder of the 'escape' is provided by air conditioners which do not cost much to run because the house is already cool.

We have been looking at Blinds Online outdoor blinds with a view to having two of them installed on the western side of a deck when the construction is completed. The western side of this high set house is protected by another awning made from solar shade material which also drops from the fascia board and prevents 8 metres of that brick wall heating up in the afternoon sun.

The cost of the awnings has been relatively high but well worth the expense. This house would have been unbearably hot without them. Awnings and blinds have been the answer - ceiling insulation,a light coloured roof and window tinting did not help all that much. Nor did shade trees when we had them. Trees were pretty much useless and did a great job of blocking gutters with leaves. Give me an awning or a blind over a tree any day.

Good luck with your decision.

Regards,

Frank

Good afternoon Amanda,

Thanks for your enquiry.

We'd suggest a couple of options for your window. A Canvas Automatic Awning would be optimal for keeping heat off your window, however, because you've stated that it's quite windy, we'd suggest you don't leave them in the down position when there are high winds.. This of course may be an issue because of the height. This can be covered with either the manual blind (with a long pole so it can be operated from ground), or Awnings can now be motorised. This would obviously be the easier option with lowering and raising the blind at a touch of a button.

You can find our awnings here: http://www.blindsonline.com.au/outdoor-awnings#/

If we can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Matt

Hello I have a 3 panel stacker sliding door 3.6m wide. I want 3 rollers across this but are wondering what the gap between them would be in mm. Thank you.

1 answer

Matthew W.Blinds Online

Hello Kylie, The gaps will depend on the type of roller system you select. If you are having 3 individual roller blinds the gap is slightly larger than if you have a multi linked system. The multi link allows you to operate the blinds in unison from 1 chain drive. The gap is approximately 20mm between cloths. As individual blinds the gap can be between 28-30mm approximately. I can assure you that none of these reviews are written by us. We receive feedback emails from our Customers on a regular basis, and suggest they let others know. This is a good site for people to look for great products, so along with letting their friends know, we suggest they post here too. Scepticism can be a good trait, but it can also mean you miss out on a deal. Why not give us a shot for yourself? Try us out? Grab some samples or if you're local, pop in to our showroom. We pride ourselves on the quality of our product, great pricing, and our Customer Service. We're stoked that it's our product that has prompted people to sign up.

Hi Indiana, As the owner of Blinds Online, I would just like to add that it’s a shame that you think that a business cannot strive to provide old fashioned customer service, quality products and low prices and that our reviews have to be fake, due to single reviews. We provide all of this, as well as the importance of marketing to our customers, so therefore we don’t need to be dishonest, as you are suggesting.
When a customer emails their satisfaction with our products and service, we simply ask them to pass on this valuable feedback. The fact that other companies don’t ask customers to do this, is their failure, certainly not ours!
If you would like to pop into the showroom, we will be happy to show you proof of the testimonies and reviews.

I do not know. We have bought 3 or 4 blinds from Blinds Online and the last blinds supplied came with a chain roller rather than a wand, as ordered. Blinds Online corrected this very quickly by supplying new tracks and did not require us to send the incorrectly supplied tracks back to them, I thought the speedy, courteous service was worthy of writing a favourable review. We were very impressed and I will happily deal with them in the future.

HI Blinds Online, We have a large bay window that we want to fit with plantation shutters. If we simply measure the three sections of the bay window (they are quite large - original part of the house from the 30s the bottom of the windows slide up to open) Left centre and Right would it still be just as simple to install considering there's only one larger outer frame on the Bay Window itself? How would we attach the middle panels?
Thanks!

Blinds Online
Matthew W.Blinds Online

Hi Runsky, thanks for your inquiry. Our shutters are made with a frame that attaches to your window and then doors that are attached to that frame. When making shutters for a sash bay window we need to use angled 't' posts at the joins of the three windows to allow for a common frame. You will probably also need a face fix frame as sash windows don't usually have any room to recess the blinds. To price your blinds using our online system measure all three windows from the outside of the window frame to the corners, and the top of the frame to the sil or bottom of architrave. Data enter them as individual windows, the price for bay windows will be plus 10% on top of the listed online price.

Hi and thanks for your inquiry. Our fabrics don't have any chemical smell to them. I'm guessing the ones that you've had in the past may have been treated as they've come through customs. You may need to open your windows and close your doors (while the blinds are down) in order to allow the blinds to air out. This should help. But, yes, all this to say, I've not heard of this problem at all with any of our fabrics.

Hi Blinds Online,
I am needing blinds to cover a total of 17 windows and sliding doors in my new house. I am half way through planning this online on your website but am stuck with what to do with my stacker door in the family room. It is 2700 x 2400. I have opted for the Prague White Light filtering roller blinds on all the other windows in the family room so wondered if it would be suitable to do one motorised blind in the same fabric on the stacker door as opposed to panel glides. I like the idea of face mounting this and adding a valance, I am just not sure how practical this would be, or if it is done at all?

Good afternoon!

Thanks for your inquiry. 1 blind in Prague LF at 2700 x 2400 is absolutely fine. We can certainly do the motorisation for you, and there's an option as you go through the Design & Order Process for a valance. We've currently got a couple of options for motorisation, if you'd like to give Matt a call on 1300 761 179, he'll be able to give you some more details.

Hi and thanks for your enquiry.

Unfortunately we don't have "double Honeycombs" however, you can, if you have the room, place one in the recess of your window, and one on the architrave which would create the same effect.

I hope this is helpful,

Hi,
We are building a new house and are looking up on the best suited blinds. We have 2 big sliding doors with measurements of 2100 drop and 3000 width for one door and 2100 drop and 2100 width for the other door.
Which blinds would you recommend will work the best? Would double rollers/ verticals or transition blinds look good?
Also, we were thinking of using transitional blinds for the bedrooms too.. How does it rank in privacy and insulation in comparison with roller blinds?
Thanks
SOumya

1 answer
Blinds Online
Matthew W.Blinds Online

Hi Soumya,
Panel Glides are great if the doors all stack back to one side, with tracks available up to 4550mm wide.
Double rollers go up to 3000mm wide so you can have a sunscreen and a blockout blind for night.
Verticals are a great way to cover doors providing light control and day and night privacy.
Transitions go up to 2700mm wide. You can choose to have multiple blinds across the door. Be sure to order the chain controls where they can be secured to the wall to comply with child safety regulations.
For bedroom windows, Transitions will provide day and night time privacy, but for darkness and insulation, blockout Rollers or Romans will be better insulators. For a softer look, Drapes are great in bedrooms, and can be over Sunscreen Rollers or soft Sheer Curtains for daytime privacy.
Go to blindsonline.com.au to see a wide range of fabrics and get samples and pricing for all the above.

hi, I have a window that is 2610x1630 and was looking for a timber blind. Is this window too wide? most websites say they do no more than 2400? thanks Nora

1 answer
Blinds Online
Matthew W.Blinds Online

Hello Nora, Thank you for your enquiry. 2400mm is the standard maximum length for Basswood or Timber Style blinds, however we can go upto 2680w on our Timberstyle venetian blinds. The factory however will not offer a warranty when the blind exceeds the recommended 2400 width.
The reason is due to weight and the amount of ladder tapes (strings running down the blind to hold the slats in place) required to stabilise the blind. As your drop is not full length, there will not be a heavy load on the blind, but we will only recommend that this size blind is used to open and close the slats, and not to lift and raise the blind off the window (occasionally for cleaning will be fine). To quote this size, you can email us directly via our website. I hope this helps.
Kind regards Blinds Online

What size of honeycomb blinds do you recommend? Are the bigger hexagons better, as in energy efficient, or is it just about looks? And how do double hexagon compare to the single type?

I've only ever bought the roller blinds and the roman blinds. Although I am considering the honeycomb blinds for the laundry! If I get them, ill be sure to leave a review of them!

Blinds Online
Matthew W.Blinds Online

Hi HRV, Honeycomb blinds are the highest energy saving blind on the market. They work by trapping a body of air inside their unique hexagonal cell. Add to the fact that they are also trapping a body of air between the blind and the glass and you have a double insulation effect.
In light filtering cloths we offer a single compact cell & double compact cell. The double being slightly higher in energy ratings to the single, but not by much.
The blockout cells have a inner foil protection and also have a high energy rating. The double light filter and the blockout are just a small .1 difference in the R value ratings (details can be seen at our website for the Rvalue).
I hope this helps. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Hi Dom Dom,
Thank you for your enquiry. Sunscreen roller blinds are a mesh type weave and allow you to maintain your view during the daytime. The darker colours such as Black and Charcoal give you a better transperancy, compared to the lighter tones such as white and cream. I hope this helps.

Hi Dom Dom
I agree.
Lighter colored sheer view fabrics reflect light and thus provide less vision from inside. Darker sheer view fabrics provide better vision.
Please consider the fact that the vision reverses at night...IE someone from outside can see inside when it gets dark. Therefore if privacy is needed at night, consider teaming it up with block out blinds or curtains.

Hi Susan85,
I used to work for a builder that put timber shutters throughout their display homes. The problem was the shutters would discolour and lighten on the sunny side of the house. They changed to a type of synthetic timber look blind which fixed that problem. This is in Vic so not sure if this problem would apply to you.
