Love the color and good job on floors

published

This vac has the best color options going for any vac on the market. We picked the base color on personal preference. It's very compact and takes up little room. The handle could be longer as well as the cord but it dose a good job on the floors but not so much on vinal

Works well!

Vacuum works great, wife and I have a small 1 bed room apartment but it works fantastic on either the carpet or the tiles.
The suction works well however getting into the corners of a room can be a little bit hard sometimes but it is totally worth it despite that!

Makes cleaning fast and easy - great for parents for young kids

published

Bosch Athlet is a great spot vacuum cleaner. We have a Miele corded vac, and a couple of other vacs - the LG roboking and the Electrolux ergorapido. This vac replaced the roboking and the ergorapido due to its powerful suction, ease of use and portability.
Not as powerful as a Dyson but in some ways more practical esp if you have a child in one hand.

Very light and easy to use

published

Since buying this vac we have never looked back as it's very compact and fits in our lawndray without taking up much space plus it dose a fantastic job on our wool rugs and carpets. The only issue is the power cord tends to get in my way but apart from that it's much better than our old vac

Great - For a single person living alone with slight caveats

published

Anything stated should come with the disclaimer that I use the vacuum once a fortnight and I live alone. Overall it works well and gets the job done. It lasts one charge on power 3 for full coverage of my 2 bedroom townhouse.

I would not buy it again for one reason - My expectation that a stick vacuum could be dismantled and become portable is a myth. This vacuum is cool such that it can slide underneath beds and sofas however to start vacuum smaller surfaces like a tabletop, dirty beds etc. you would think you could remove the core bit to become a smaller vacuum. This is not the case and it really is just a vacuum designed as a stick.

Great Vacuum - for carpets as well

published

We live in all carpet apartment and this vacuum does justice to our carpet and our new born. I generally use the second and third (boost) power switch for the carpets and 1st for the tiled kitchen floor. The suction is plain amazing. I am coming from a cabled vacuum cleaner with filter to clean out every 5-10min of vacuuming. The amount of hair this beast has picked up using the electric head is just amazing really

Design Fault in Handle

published

I have the Athlete 25.2V great suction and ease of use. However, the handle has snapped. I notice this is a design fault because I have read numerous complaints over the last few months from overseas and local that this keeps happening. Why should I pay for a new handle when it is a design fault. This is advised on your British site repeatedly. Can you please reply otherwise I will contact Consumer Affairs about this faulty product.

Disappointing

published

Had to purchase a Shark as my Athlet is very disappointing with poor pick up on deep pile carpet
Have followed product cleaning instructions hoping for an improvement showed little improvement.
My Athlet leaves more debris after use and will not pick up.
In comparison my new Shark is brilliant
I note that most reviews for the Athlet are good however I cannot leave a good review in this instant.

Great!

published

Loving the ease of this, great suction and good battery life. The unit is a bit heavy but rolls well so not really sn issue. Maneuverability is not as good as I hoped but still good. Big head means you can't get under things as well either. But great for what I got it for which is regularly quick crumb clean up after the toddler.

Bosch Vacuum

published

This product is fantastic, definitely one of the best purchases I've made ! The entire house (floors) can be cleaned in a short timeframe. Cordless feature, is a great advantage, the battery is long lasting (not running out in the middle of a vacuum). I run this over the carpet/tiles a couple of time a week, minimal effort with maximum results - Highly recommended :)

Bought this a few months ago. Been overall good but compared to others in the price range it doesn't surpass much. It quiet and durable but it doesn't suck up all th dust on my carpet floor. Well overall it an average buy I'd look into other options if possible

Life Changing!

published

The Athlet is quiet, maneuverable, with great suction and long run time.
I now use this vacuum to vacuum my entire house, instead of my Dyson.
The run time allows me to vacuum 5 bedrooms, 3 living areas, bathroom, dining and kitchen.
Works well on my short pile carpets.

This is the second Athlet I've owned. My previous vacuum had a charging error, however it was replaced free of charge with no fuss by Bosch and the current one has been going strong for almost 2 years.

Highly recommended product!

Battery issues

published

This is our second athlet. Best machine going around. However, the first one had to go back under warranty as it stopped randomly whilst in use. It would be going and then shut down for a few seconds. And then come back on. Had it replaced about a year ago and now this one is doing the same thing. It is cleaned and maintained. I am a huge Bosch fan but this is becoming a tad annoying.

Light and easy

published

I bought this for my mum. We used to have a Shark uplift vacuum which has excellent suction but it is too heavy for her. The reason I bought Bosch is because it is so light, but it sucks as well as the Shark. My mum has 3 bedrooms and 2 living rooms. The battery actually can last until all the rooms are vacuumed. Good for its value.

Love it!

published

Very light weight and simple to use. Makes vacuuming far less tiresome. Recharges quickly. Good suction. Probably not the most powerful vacuum going around but does a reasonable job. I only have a small house with 50% hard floor and 50% carpet so I can get around the whole house on one charge. You probably couldn't achieve this with a decent size home, but it is so easy to use and recharges so quickly that I don't think that it is really an issue. I wouldn't say it was perfect, but I am pretty happy with mine.

finally something that works

published

We had a Dyson Animal that I cursed as my wife constantly complained about it cutting out and not working properly. After it stopped permanently I went looking for a replacement and got the Bosch Athlet. Thiss is an excellent machiine, well designed, quiet, more powerful and cheaper than the plastic marketing hype presented Dyson. Do yourself a favour andd check them out, any balanced examination will lead you to the same conclusion. (I noticed that Choice gave them a good rap too after I purchased it)

Questions & Answers

Steve

Steveasked

I too have a Bosch Athlet with a failing battery (lasts 5 minutes or so on a full charge). Our local dealers do not carry spare parts and have referred me to the Bosch 1300 contact number. However I find myself on "hold". No answer from many attempts. I have also left my details on their answering service, but have had no response. I am disappointed that a $350 purchase has failed this early in its life, and that Bosch and or their dealers do not seem to have a system to deal with product quality issues. Does anyone know another way to contact Bosch? Does anyone know a dealer that carries spare parts (specifically batteries)?

I contacted Bosch customer care on their 1300 369 744 number a couple of weeks ago and got my limited operating time problem sorted - and mine was 8 months out of warranty. They ended up replacing it. I didn't have the frustration you're having with being put on hold (well maybe for 5 mins) and them not getting back. I don't know what's going on.

what is the difference between the bosch athlete bch6at25au and the bch6255nau

hi Louise
It appears they are the same vacuum cleaner. Harvey Norman has the 6at25au and Bing Lee has the 6255nau.
I had trouble registering the warranty on the 6255nau because it was a New Zealand appliance and I contacted Bosch in Australia and they did it for me. Hoping this helps.

Hi I have Bosch Athlet that is no longer charging. The lights don't go on when I plug it into the charging unit. When I switch it on the come on, but the vacuum is flat. Can you tell me if something is wrong with the charging unit, or is it the vacuum? I've been very impressed with the vacuum and would like to have it fixed rather than have to get a new one!

hi Kelly
First of all you have to contact Bosch customer service on 1300 369 744 who will assess if vacuum cleaner can be repaired. It appears the charging unit could be at fault or the battery is totally lost all charge. I leave my unit on charge during the day and switch off at night. This will ensure the battery maintains a full charge as this is important for battery longetivity.
