(made no difference) a year of hell with this thing just no hot water to wash diahes at all, no hot water on bathrooms or bath and $500 and more water bills (double) trying to run taps forever to get luke warm water. The motherboard was changed in mine the second time with the second unit. The third unit was upgraded by Bosch to the Bluetooth model with assurances all faults have been resolved. I guess only time will tell.

Hi Stam, thanks for your question. All gas burning appliances discharge flue gases when combustion occurs. The gas you are smelling is probably this, however, we suggest you contact us to arrange for an authorised technician to inspect. To get in touch with an authorised service technician, please contact us at 1300 30 70 37 on a weekday, any time between 7:30AM to 6:00PM (AEST).

Hi. I bought an Optiflow 16 second hand. I thought I had got a good deal but reading the reviews I am thinking it may be a waste of money getting a plumber to install it. It is an older model. Were they any better?

We are on our THIRD optiflow. The first two had igniter issues and flow valve problems, all covered under warranty though. 7 call outs in total but Bosch have upgraded us to the Bluetooth model and ensured us the issue had been resolved in the factory. Ask yourself why the unit is second hand in the first place. Sorry to pee on your parade but unless it is under warranty, throw it away

Thank you. I was told they needed a bigger unit. I'm waiting to hear back from the seller. Rheem gas hot water services don't seem to be any better according yo the reviews. I think they were better quality in the past. Same as everything else. I now wish I'd bought a very old one.

Is the set temperature meant to flash non stop when the unit is heating the water or make a humming sound after the tap is turned off

Bosch Hot Water & Heating
Robert B.Bosch Hot Water & Heating

Hi Henry, the temperature flashing means the appliance is not delivering the set temperature. Once the unit is delivering the set temperature, it will stop flashing. The buzzing you hear after the tap is turned off is the water valve adjusting to optimal position for the next hot water usage. We hope this is helpful and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact our friendly team at 1300 30 70 37 any time during the weekday from 7:30am to 6pm (AEST).

My Bosch electronic high flow 25E (13 years old) has stopped working. What would be the best replacement?

Bosch Hot Water & Heating
Robert B.Bosch Hot Water & Heating

Hi Trudik, thank you for your question. The best replacement for your Electronic HighFlow 25E would be the OptiFlow 26L model. Please be advised the OptiFlow model is not suitable for tank boosting arrangements (that is, commercial boosting of warm water recirculation systems). If you need help finding an installer or have further questions, please contact us at 1300 30 70 37 any time from 8am to 6pm (AEDT) during the week.

Why has Bosch not recalled the Optiflow gas hot water system because it is doing the brand name considerable damage and costing its customers a fortune in having to buy reliable replacements?

Because unless it's risk to life companies do not recall. If the unit you bought is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE (delivering consistent flow and temp water) then under Consumer Law, the company needs to REPAIR or REPLACE or REFUND. If repair didn't work, they might suggest another repair (refuse) then they will either offer a replacement (within their rights) at their cost not tours, or refund. If you have already had a repair and a replacement and still do not have WHAT YOU PAID FOR (continuous flow and heated water) then put your foot down and scream REFUND. Also, losses (within reason) that you have incurred should be claimable, as long as they are directly caused by the unit not working, and as long as you have PROOF of those costs, but you may need to put your claim in legal terms and quote the legislation when putting in such a claim.
