Great at first
I bought this model vacuum at Harvey Norman, Young, in 2014. I had gone in there intending to buy another Dyson, but the salesman talked me into the Bosch, which came with a turbo head included. His main selling point was its quietness and that it boasted a "self-cleaning filtration system". I caved and bought it, also purchasing an extended warranty for it.
During the first year, this vacuum was a dream; I had dogs and cats, plus birds, and it sucked up their mess with ease. I also enjoyed how quiet it was, even on full power.
In 2015, the t...Read more
urbo head started not working properly, ie, the brushes wouldn't turn and the suction was useless. My partner, or I, also had to sit and remove countless hairs from the roller, but to no avail. We tried using the contact head, but this made the job very hard indeed, even though it picked up everything on full power, it was impossible to push along the carpet without incredible strain on our backs. We took the turbo head back to Harvey Norman, Young, and after a fair while of being mucked around - mainly because the head was considered an optional extra, which it wasn't - Bosch finally replaced it. If memory serves, that took weeks to resolve. A year later, the replacement turbo head started mucking up like the original one. We took it to Harvey Norman in Goulburn, where we were living during that year, and a wonderful staff member cleaned it out, pointing out TWO OTHER filters we weren't aware were in the machine! Even though this model was a self cleaning filtration system, we both still cleaned the one filter we knew of, but not knowing about the location, or existence, of the other two filters, we'd mistakenly left them filthy. So the "user manual" that came with the machine was pretty useless. To be expected I guess, from a "manual" that was a folded up piece of paper that opened out to nearly as big as a small tablecloth; awkward to hold and read, and to be brutally honest, not a great reflection of the price I paid ($900 including extended warranty). Again, the machine worked well for a short while, but reverted to its usual poor performance.
Purchased in August 2021 at Harvey Norman Retail Stores - Appliances for $900.00.

Terrible product
I am very disappointed with this product. Not long after the warranty ran out the machine started stopping and the sensor light would come on. I would clean it but it would still happen. I took it to a service department, had it repaired which cost almost $300. Just over 12 months later it is having the same problem.
It is not worth the cost to have repaired again so will just get rid of it.

My first ever Bosch product - and last.
Bought the Bosch Athlet Zoo'o Pro Animal vacuum cleaner about a year ago. Worst electrical product I've ever bought. Battery lasted barely 9 months and the thing couldn't even suck up typical household crumbs due to a clear design flaw with the head, where you give it a tap after switching off and all the crap collected in the head falls on the floor. Terrible product. Bosch should stick to whatever it is they do best. Not sure what that is, but it's not vacuum cleaners.
Purchased in July 2021 at Harvey Norman for $499.00.

What a big disappointment and waste of money
Ive had the same problem with my vacuum cleaner - I rang Bosch - after cleaning all the filters - completely wiping it out thoroughly- only to be told (we arent aware of the problem) heres a service place to take it too - when spending the amount of money I did on it - I would expect it to last more than 12 months- and the service I received when enquiring about it was terrible- Im really disappointed and upset

Feel Sorry for anyone who was conned by Harvey Norman into buying one!!
I was so upset when my husband came home with the BOSCH zoo vac. I sent him to Harvey Norman to get a Voltra, Miele or Dyson. He said the salesman said the BOSCH was far better than all three! The first time we used it I was really impressed with the turbo head suction. Even though it was heavy, didn't move around corners well & the cord kept pulling I put up with it as it had good suction. Also it's very noisy! The 3 rd time I used it, it stopped every few minutes!. I asked my husband to take it back! He said there's nothing wrong with it and...Read more
offered to do the vacuuming in the future. He refused to admit he was conned so stubbornly he was cleaning the filter and emptying the tiny bit of dirt in bucket 2-5 times each time he vacuums. He's been using his compressor to blast the filter till it looks new! Now the sensor stops it every 15 seconds and he has finally admitted he was conned into buying an expensive piece of rubbish! It is without doubt the worst vacuum I've ever used!! We should all get a refund and a fully paid holiday for putting up with it!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A strong vacuum, but, you know, self cleaning issues.
I found these reviews while searching for spare parts as our Zoo Animal has been driving us insane as long as I can remember. Objectively, it's a solid vacuum cleaner that has stood up to years of use, it's a little on the heavy side but has powerful suction when it's running well.
We mainly use the (non-rotating) brush head which does a great job of manually extracting hair from our short-pile carpet, so we haven't bothered with the other attachments including the rotating head. I'm sure they would do a good job.
The elephant in the roo...Read more
m is that the unit is overly sensitive to the cylindrical paper filter being clogged with dirt triggering the sensor clean function. From an early time during our ownership (< 12 months) the vac would stop & clean the filter regularly, even when relatively clean. No matter how clean we got the filter, it would still stop more than we would like. If we let the filter get properly filled with dust the thing spends more time cleaning itself than it does the floor. I already hate vacuuming, and spending so much time waiting for self cleaning literally every minute or so does not help. Ultimately I decided to purchase a new filter to address the issue, but I've found on the Bosch website that you can't purchase just the paper filter (or a pack of them) at a reasonable cost. You need to purchase the entire filter cartridge including handle, lid, plastic/metal cage etc for $104! Half or more of this cost is for components that seem perfectly fine on our unit and don't need to be replaced. I tried to call Bosch today (Saturday), however their support line is manned 24x7 weekdays only, and not at all on weekends. I think 9am to 6pm 7 days per week would be more customer friendly - I have never yet wanted to call for help with an appliance at 3am on a Tuesday, but I often do on weekends...Similar opinion? I am in the market for a new vacuum cleaner
Have owned this for about 4 years, there much that is really good, rubbish enters directly into the collection chamber which is unobstructed unlike my previous Dyson. But same problem as everyone else, it keeps stooping to “ clean”, pressurised air for keyboards works but is expensive. Really Bosch, this is very poor and replacement filters are prohibitively expensive.

Self cleaning fail
The first year worked perfectly, then suddenly the power cord would only pull out to half of its length Now the self cleaning function goes off every 60 seconds. It does this 3 times before the light goes red permanently and it doesn’t work anymore. This is after I’ve followed all the trouble shooting suggestions. For the price I paid I expected a longer life expectancy.

Worst vacuum I have ever used
I can't believe I waited this long to read the reviews which I wholeheartedly agree with. The sensor light is so frustrating, I clean the filters and it just keeps cutting out, I had a miele vacuum for 15 years and never had a day of trouble with it. I have a two storey house wich takes long enough to vacuum without having to stop evey 30 seconds to wait for the vacuum to come back on. I have floorboards on the ground floor and carpet on the top floor, no difference in performance, still cuts out all the time. The power lead is also frustrating...Read more
, if you go a bit too far it wants to retract back in. I work in community care and use a lot of different vacuum cleaners and would have to say this is by far the worst vacuum I have ever used, even the cheapest vacuum cleaner keeps going until the end of the job. This vacuum cleaner should have been recalled and a refund given $700 is a lot of money to spend when a $10 broom does a better job, I would have thought a company like Bosch would have thought more of their reputation. REALLY UNHAPPY.1 comment

Self cleaning constantly!
I bought this vacuum cleaner 2 years ago, it's now 2 weeks out of warranty. I chose the Bosch Zoo'o as a replacement for my Dyson partly due to the self cleaning mode on it.. It was great, picked up the pet hair no problem, loved it! Until about 2 months later when it decided to go into self clean mode every minute or so. I've always cleaned the filters under running water as directed (complete pain to do as it uses so much water), and left them for a few days to dry before reusing vacuum. I finally had enough today and rang Bosch, only to be a...Read more
dvised to buy new filters. Surely not, it's an 2 year old $800 vacuum cleaner that with all the waiting around for the filter to dry has probably only been used once or twice a week! I'll be digging out the old cheap vacuum from the shed instead! How disappointing. Bosch, you need to get this common problem sorted!2 comments

Would not recommend this expensive vacuum cleaner.
Sent back within a year of purchase. Kept self cleaning instead of working even after washing the filter cartridge with warm water. Bosch replaced it with a new filter.
On my third year now and replaced my hose for $80
When it self cleans too much I scrub the cartridge with a brush with soapy hot water and soak it over night .
It’s too heavy and hard to maneuvre around corners .

Not worth the money
Terrible experience with this vacuum. I paid a lot of money thinking I'd be trouble free for years. Not even a year in the machine has been in twice for repair. The filters you can't remove get clogged. ...even the ones you can remove to clean yourself (not easy in itself) are a nuisance as you have to wait 24hrs for them to dry. I also don't like self retractable power cord.

was great for a short time.
For an expensive cleaner designed for pets I expected it to function better. It is designed with a self cleaning filter in it ( if it gets a bit blocked the cleaner self cleans) that sounds like a great idea right. Well at first i could not fault this vacuum or the service I had on a replacement piece that didnt work from day dot. But now I can only vacuum an area of about 2 sq m before it self cleans itself or I have to clean it with an air compressor. This is very frustrating. The filter can be replaced at a cost of $80 which is rather costly considering the price of the vacuum and really bosch does the whole drum need to be added cant you just sell the filter? I have only had my vacuum a bit over 12 months and paid over 700 for it.

Worst vacuum ever!
From the time I got this i have got electric shocks from the hose, The filter gets stuck when it tries to rotate to the pint it now does not work - a replacement is $250!
The head internal roller brush gets jammed too easily.
It loses suction too quick, the self clean attempt is poor and is too often performed that is gets really annoying.
I wish I took in back to the store after the first time used.
It is heavy, bulky and difficult to use day to day.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Great cleaning....when it's not self cleaning
What an absolute lemon!!!! With four young children the decision to spend $850 on a vacuum cleaner wasn't taken lightly. When we first bought this vacuum we thought it was fantastic - such great suction compared to our last one. Unfortunately within a few months we started getting the problem with the self cleaning coming on numerous times whilst being used and often stopping altogether, which obviously meant it took so much longer to complete. I called Bosch who asked if I had been cleaning it properly which I had, he then said he would have t...Read more
o book it in for a service. I mentioned about the reviews I had now seen and was this a common problem which may not be fixable - he wouldn't comment and just kept asking if I wanted a service. Ended up just taking it back to Harvey Norman and they replaced it. We were happy with that, but again after a while the self cleaning kicked in again and now does it every couple of minutes while vacuuming. We bought the extended warranty however apart from being a complete inconvenience having to take it back, the fact is that we do not want it replaced with the same model.......for obvious reasons. Bosch, 59 'Terrible' reviews has to account for something. It's time to show some accountability and admit that this particular model is faulty . Shame as I really like my other Bosch appliances and my husband has always had Bosch tools with never any issues.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Very disappointed.
I thought this vacuum was amazing when I purchased it a few years ago. It then started with the red sensor every time I vacuumed whether it was tiles or carpet, most times it wouldn't even click back over to the blue light again and I would have to turn it completely off to get it started again. Not very happy at all considering the amount I paid for it

Don't waste your money
Have been meaning to write this for a while- Was talked out of buying a Dyson and bought this instead. If you love vacuuming the same spot numerous times to pick up one small piece of fluff or you want a vacuum that is so heavy and awkward, this vacuum is for you. It won't pick up anything on our carpet on a medium setting and to put it on a high setting requires me to have a body builders muscles to push it. I don't dare use it now that I'm pregnant as it's so heavy and awkward I'm afraid it will send me into early labor. I have owned cheap Kmart vacuums that are better than this.

Terrible
FANTASTIC when not stopping in self clean mode.
This WAS the most amazing vacuum I had bought. Much better than my previous two Dyson cleaners however despite constantly cleaning the filters and emptying it goes into self clean mode very regularly and then stops. Unfortunately it has become not fit for purpose as i cannot vacuum one room without it going into self clean 3-4 times before stopping completely. I hope Bosch can help get this sorted so I can return to praising the machine.

HI - I have a Bosch Zoo-o Pro Animal. I would love to clean the filter .... it says in Figure 22* in the booklet that comes with it "Open the appliance lid by pulling the locking tab. To clean the plate filter, turn the knob at least three turns through 180 degrees. ... there is absolutely no way that this knob can be turned even 5 degrees, let alone 180. Funny, but the picture in the booklet shows that there is a type of lever/or wing nut like attachment to assist in this operation, BUT NOT ON MINE. I cannot budge this knob, therefore cannot clean all the fluff and dust collected inside. Any answers?
