Vacuum Cleaners Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of vacuum cleaner would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Total Rip Off!!!
Went well for 2 years then red sensor light started coming on & stopping vacuum every 30 secs. Happens constantly now. Tried cleaning all filters & rotating head every time but still keeps shutting off. Chord retracts during use & won’t fully return leaving a metre outside. Hard to manoeuvre as keeps flipping on its back upon turning. It’s heavy to push back onto its right side. Most expensive & WORST machine I have ever bought at $600. I will NEVER buy Bosch again & be letting everyone not to go near them like the plague!!!
Purchased in January 2021 at Harvey Norman for $600.00.

Powerful performance
Well engineered and very powerful. We use it on carpet, tiles and floor boards. The power head attachment is so easy to clean due to the cleaver - easy to remove brush head. Only small criticism is the power head stalls / slows down sometimes as it is driven from the suction of the vacuum rather than its own motor in the head itself. The self cleaning filter is brilliant as I always forgot to clean our old filter. Huge bag less compartment which is easy to empty and reinstall. Very happy.
Purchased in July 2021 at Harvey Norman Retail Stores - Appliances for $539.00.

Self cleans every 30 seconds
I wouldn't recommend this vacuum at all. It self cleans every 30 seconds and it has always done this, regardless of how clean the filter is. I have had it sent off only to be told it was fine but it clearly isn't. Now it is out of warranty and after several attempts to get help from Bosch, I am stuck with a faulty expensive product which leaves me unable to purchase another one. Highly disappointed.
Purchased in March 2021 at Harvey Norman for $699.00.

Tired of all the problems.
1. Vaccum worked well when first purchased, both on carpet and hard floors. But then the faults crept in.
2. The sensor continually cuts in when working on hard floors but does not do this using the turbo head.
3.The cord has a mind of its own, it retracts when you don't want it to and then when you do want it to retract it fails to go all the way in leaving about a metre sticking out.
4. The turbo head now will not work properly only going at about half speed even though I have cleaned it.
5.The filter clogs easily.
6. I will not buy another Bosh.
5.The main filter requires constant cleaning an it clogs up easily.
Purchased in June 2021 at Harvey Norman for $699.00.

So much for German engineering!
Unlike some others, I find the suction on this vacuum to be it's best feature. On hard floors, the sideway action wheels are helpful but not so much on carpet. I have had the "retractable" power cord replaced as it wasn't working properly and one day I ripped it out accidentally as my 'gentle' tugs to initiate retraction didn't seem to be working. The replacement cord is already showing signs of being similarly unobliging. The cord's length is also found wanting - I nearly always use a small extension cord to minimise power point changes. I had...Read more
to buy a new extension tube as the plastic clip on the under side broke and now I need a new hose as it has almost torn through near the handle - possibly from the wear and tear of dragging around a relatively heavy machine. Emptying the barrel is a messy task and one that needs doing frequently to prevent setting off the 'sensor control' function (which isn't working properly anymore either). I would not recommend this machine to anybody and, like others, regret being talked into it by the salesperson at Harvey Norman.Purchased in July 2021 for $599.00.

Great vaccume with self cleaning filter
When my old vacuum broke down I set out to Harvey Norman in search of a new vacuum. I was on a budget. I was shown a few different models but was sold at the prospect of self cleaning filters... and it was on sale! I have had the vacuum for a year now. The machine itself is silent and very powerful. My only criticism is carpet brush attachment no longer working but I’m sure I’ll get a replacement if I headed down to the store.
Purchased in January 2021.

So cleverly engineered it doesn't work
This machine tries hard but fails. Instead of periodically removing a full paper filter bag and throwing it in the bin, you now have to try to wash a fine cartridge filter made of some AMAZING filter material which appears to be water repellant. Either the filter needs to be easy to clean properly, or it needs to be economically replaceable, i.e. a paper bag. Over the last couple of years I have found the best way to prevent this clever device shutting down after vacuuming a couple of rooms is to blow the amazing cartridge filter out with compr...Read more
essed air EVERY time we use it. Seems to work better than washing the filter. But it means you take the dust from your house and redistribute it all over your workshop and yourself. Sometimes I clean the Bosch filter with my $100 workshop vacuum. When I finally smash this Bosch machine in frustration I will buy another $100 workshop vacuum for the house and cut out the Bosch middle man. The team of PhD qualified engineers in Boschland who designed this thing obviously have their houses cleaned by Turkish housemaids.2 comments

Fantastic - great for pet hair
This hoover is easy to use and move around. It has a good long cord and doesn't tip over.
The different heads are really useful - especially the Turbo head for carpets.
It's the best hoover for picking up pet hair (we have 2 cats). The smaller heads are really useful for picking up hair on the sofas.

Terrible terrible terrible
Worst vacuum ever - have taken it back twice and been told there’s nothing wrong with it. Only way I can vacuum without the sensor cleaning alert coming on every 15 seconds is to run it at half speed which is useless as it doesn’t pick up anything. Am continually having to pull the tube apart and pry out stuff which has got stuck - there is a division inside the tube just below the handle which is a nightmare.

Sensor Control Rubbish
I am having the same trouble. My vac hasn't had much use but every 30 seconds it goes into Sensor Control. To get the vacuuming done I have to turn off the vac and start again. Regular cleaning maintained, used mainly on wooden floors and paid way too much money for this piece of rubbish. Harvey Norman sold it very well in comparison to other brands.

Great vacuum
We have a dog and she sheds a lot. This vacuum works like magic! It is bagless which is what I’ve been looking for! And the container is huge. But the only downside is it is bit heavy to carry up & down. And the cord can be a little bit longer.

Worst vacuum I have ever owned
This is the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever had, the suction is pathetic, everything about the bagless canister is flimsy, horrible design to change heads, the so called power head just wraps hair around it. The body of it is clumsy and awkward. Drives me mad how it stops to clean filter all the time. I chose this one as it was recommended for my new Rhino Carpet, but to be honest I am quite worried its not even cleaning it adequately.
Wonder if it is a warranty issue or just the worst vacuum ever? Only 5 months old.

Awful. worst vacuum I have ever owned in the over $500 class.
Awful. constant maintenance. cleaning filters makes no difference to overall performance. power head is not actually powered so isn't great at dealing with pet hair. Never again. About 12 months old and sending it to live in the shed and buying an alternative. It takes at least 5 times as long to vacuum as it did with my Dyson as it is constantly self cleaning or meditating or whatever the hell it does when the red sensor light is on.

Piece of crap
I have had my vacuum just under two years and it was working fine for the first year and then the one year hit and everything turned to custard. The sensor light keeps coming on every couple of minutes. We got the vacuum cleaner as our dishwasher is a Bosch and is great. Nearly two hours just to vacuum a medium sized house. Its a bloody joke and waste of money. I live in Christchurch New Zealand and it cost us nearly $800 and we can not afford to keep buying vacuum cleaners every couple of years. I emailed Bosch New Zealand to tell them my pro...Read more

Cleaning HERO!
Few months ago I decided to replace my old vacuuum with a bagless one. After some online research I restricted my option to two brands, Miele and Bosch. I opted for the second one,I felt they had some similarity but the Bosch was much cheaper and had better specs for a cheaper price. I have used it now and it has been much better than I expected in performance . I am following the indication of the sales person to mntain it clean: I press the self cleaning button before I empty the canister and I will need to wash the filter with just water every 6 months. Plenty of accessories with this model.

Something other than Dyson
I am very sceptical when i see turbo head "have always used a power head" but to my amazement it really works the 2 rugs i have are short and medium pile wool, the head goes over just like a power head it dosnt stop or cut out and it really picks up all the dog fur. I really love the extra wide hard floor brush and it even lifts dog fur from the rugs as well.
The dust barrel is really generous in size i can do the whole house before emptying (heaven) it come with so many attachment still havent figured out what to use them for. There are only 2 small draw i found the hose would kink for no reason and the machine would stop mid vaccum but this means auto cleaning the filter for optimal power

This is a very underperforming product. Don't buy it
My mother got this vacuum bought for her through her Anglicancare package. She couldn't use it because it was too big and cumbersome and she couldn't work out how to put the filters and dust bag in. I then bought it off her and am less than displeased with it. It hardly auctions, its heavy and it appears to have filters that are stuck in it.

About 4 months ago it stopped with suction with the metal stick part on but if I use the hose and no metal stick I DO oget minimal but SOME suction.I was at Harvey Norman yesterday. They said it was purchased in June 2015. The lady suggested taking out and washing the lifetime guarantee filter in the side when you take the bagless collection chsmberout.
