Cleaning with single wall/ single cup insert and cleaning disc and one tablet provided with machine. No water comes out during cleaning. Tablet is dissolved. This is the first cleaning since purchase. Clean light flashes on/off.

Same here—I just put it through it’s first clean. However, I did push the rubber cleaning disk into the single cup insert quite tightly. Maybe it should just sit in there loosely. My clean light is now off and the disk was almost completely dissolved.

hi all. i just bought the machine yesterday. i find that the coffee is very wet and not draining properly from the grouping after the pressure goes down. i believe it should be damp and not have water sat in the grouping after the machine completes? am i under filling as i have trued to make the coffee grind much finer. Any help?

You need to have enough grounds in the filter basket so that is almost up to the rim when tamped. Tamp pressure is one medium press. when you bump, tap the filter basket, the wet grounds should form a biscuit. Fine grounds set more solidly.
fabulous thanks and yes this has resolved the problem

I have had my BES860 for about 7 years, and has worked an avg 3 coffees a day, every day without fault! Until now. All the lights turn on BUT it doesn’t make that usual grunting sound. It won’t run water, nor will it make any noise except you can hear it ever so faintly in the background trying to click through it’s normal cycle - even the cleaning cycle? But no water comes out; no sound of the pump, nor that topical start up sound it makes. Does anyone know what might be causing this please?

I bought a Breville BES860 recently from someone who's mum only used it occasionally. Everything is ok except that the "Clean Me" light is "On" all the time. I have attempted to run the "Clean" cycle using the cleaning tablet and have held in both the 1 Cup & 2 Cup buttons then pressing the "On" button (holding all buttons in for at least 3 seconds before releasing). The machine then flashes the 2 Cup button and commences to flush through the basket into the tray. I have descaled the machine using 50 / 50 white vinegar and filtered water with a 5 minute gap before flushing the remainder of the mix through the machine. No matter what I do the "Clean Me" light stays on. I have also replaced the seal and flushed the milk steamer tube. Can anyone tell me why it won't go into cleaning mode or turn off the light please?

Good afternoon, my problem is, steam coming out the porta filler and also the wand, given all a good clean no change, can you help please?
1 answer
Three way solenoid may be broken - porta filler is stuck open.
See if water comes out of the porta filler when using the hot water.

Greetings... my Espresso BES860XL is missing up! When I press the Power ON, it goes through the warm up cycle, then when it is time to be ready for a brew, it turns itself off. At times, it wouldn’t turn on at all. If left plugged into the wall, it turns itself on and off at different intervals of time... something is wrong -I would say. Could someone help? Thank you in advance Brotherly Baristas....

My coffee machine has stopped working-can't seem to get water thru the grinds even though everything (pressure gauge/waterflow) is working separately. I changed bean and that hasn't helped. Any ideas? Not long serviced and new seals. Grinder is still going-thought maybe grinder was only working on one setting but it seems OK

Hello.
I have one of these and I did a thorough cleaning of it externally and I think some water got in behind the front panel buttons. Once dry i went to switch it on and it will no longer operation, no lights or anything.
Is there any fuse or something that could have blown? Obviously somethings happened due to the water.
Thanks!

I bought a BES-860 from Harvey Norman Marion, after about four years the grinder operation became erratic and operation became worse over the next four months or so. I have let it sit for about three years. I now want it working again. The steam, heater, pump functions. Grinder works every time I use it with NO coffee beans loaded. When beans are loaded into the hopper the grinder starts and then immediately 'turns off' the machine. On rare occasions the grinder will grind beans normally but it is a hit and miss occurrence. In addition, when the pump draws current that also trips to ‘auto cut-off’. So, in summary everything is working until a load is placed on the power supply. Almost every time there is a 'current draw' from the grinder a safety cut out turns off the machine. By the way this machine would have had around 10 KG of beans put through it since purchase. I live alone and do not drink much coffee, it is for occasional use. Anyone else had this issue?

Not sure but it seems as a defect. Mine is used daily and never had anything similar. Maybe worth contacting Harvey Norman, Good luck
BES 860 take a lot of power, may be there is some defect in the wall power socket, try to change to another, power on, and wait 5min before grind

I had mine for about 4 years now. I just changed it's Solenoid valve assembly about 2 monts ago and did cleaning-decalcyfiying use vinegar-water 30-60 and was working back normally. After about 3 months, the espresso getting less and less pressure at its shower head and I decided to changed its pump (all original parts). Its getting worst after that. The pump has a normal noise indicate its working but after 2-3 seconds the noise become very weak and no water came out from its head and no pressure at its gauge. Steam wand working perfectly. I try to contact Breville tehnical support but no luck. Please help.

Hi Rama, got the same issue. First low water pressure out of the head and normal sound. After cleaning the hoses myself: no improuvement.
I asked the repairman and i instaled the solenoid bar like yours: no improuvement until i saw some grey mesh inside a tube i forgot to clean near
the compression chamber: problem solved....until recently....low or no pre-infusion cycle but infusion is ok. Still asked the repairman and told me
as long as the coffe is good....why try to find a needle? Still waiting for my pre-infusion cycle

Hi there, my Breville BE860XL is having grinder problems. The grinder will regularly get stuck and make a very loud noise. When this happens it stops grinding beans. Any thoughts? Possible to fix or replace the grinder? Sam
1 answer
We had no problem for years then started having grinder issues. We worked out we had changed coffee bean supplier. Must have been too hard to grind so we swapped back to Vittoria Espresso and the problem went away.

Hi Jeff, this matter may require service of the appliance. I notice you mention the XL in your model number, are you in North America? We would be happy to assist in arranging things after a quick conversation directly!

My machine is 4 months old and has suddenly stopped working properly. Pressure does not build up as it should....and if it does reach the desirable grey area on the dial, it switches off immediately. What's going on and how can I fix it?
1 answer
Is the ‘clean me’ light on? Use the cleaning tablet on the cleaning cycle and then make sure there is no debris in the coupling where the water/brew comes out. Rinse this group head after each use so it doesn’t get clogged up. Otherwise check the grind size and how much coffee is packed in the basket?
Coach57asked
Hi,
Breville 860, bought new and has been excellent. The gauge used to get to 12oclock regularily with a good compact and grind. Now, no matter how hard I pack, the gauge rarely gets to 12, and the 'La Crema' is much lighter than previous. Would this be a pump issue ? Still makes coffee, just not getting the extract as previous.
2 answers
I'm having the same problem as well, gauge never (for my case) gets to the usual level anymore.
I found the Group Brew Head Seal ($5-6) inside the machine, under the Filter Cup handle was damaged - easy 2min fix.
You will need to empty water, empty coffee - lay the machine on its back. Allen Key to open the mesh part, get a knife & screwdriver to remove.
Clean any gunk out, wipe with wet cloth, then dry with tissue paper - insert new seal, no lubricants required. Replace mesh & tighten allen key.
Fill coffee hamper, add water ... bingo.
