Disappointing
The collapsible paddle has never collapsed although it tries but that just means it rips more out of the bottom on the loaf. It's a couple of years old and now won't mix all the ingredients properly. There is so much play in the spindle and the paddle is very worn. I have probably made 150 loaves with it with varying success. Breville not interested in any complaints.

Breville After Sales Service
I will no longer buy a Breville product even though they have had some good products over the years BUT their After Sales Service is PATHETIC, they even make you feel like a liar when you report a problem.
Simply put a product is only as good as the back up that comes with it, in this department Breville FAILS dismally & has done for many years. I speak with the experience of receiving the same stand offish & often rude attitude on four separate occasions regarding three products, it's just NOT good enough, speaking as an engineer there are other product manufacturers with products just as good if not better with FAR better after sales service.

Great Bread Maker!
I received mine as a birthday present 6 months ago and I love it!
Probably bake a loaf a week on average and each one has been a great success from the staple yummy wholemeal seeded to delicious fruit loaves and savoury creations. Easy to use and clean. Only niggle is the paddle is very lose on the spindle and looks like it is designed to fail eventually. The "Light bulb Conspiracy" strikes again...

Breville Bread Maker BBM800 Can somebody help please
Today I attempted to make my first loaf of bread.
Have the same issue as Daniel mentioned. The collapsible paddle won’t stay upright. Surely I don’t have to pack ingredients around the paddle to keep it upright. I’m also wondering how the machine will manage to keep the paddle upright and then flip it down when necessary during the baking process.
I’m not baking my first loaf today, will throw ingredients out until this issue is resolved.
Can anyway help. Please.

Poor quality product, with poor quality customer service!
I purchased my Breadmaker roughly 15 months ago. It came with a 1 year warranty, PLUS 2 year replacement warranty.
I have followed the instruction manual completely - made bread exactly as it tells you to, cleaned exactly as it tells you to, etc. I have taken good care of my machine, as it is the only bread my family eats.
However, the bread pan began leaking water (you put water in it and let it soak for 10 minutes, as per the instruction manual) around the 12 month mark. I contacted Breville by phone first, only to be told the Bread pan an...Read more

Very happy with this product
Making bread using flours like banana flour, kamut, spelt, with no issues, although with non-wheat based flours, the bread is probably ready before the random internet recipes say it is. Really nice for me to learn how to make doughs with ease, or even bake a cake using the bake setting, which is new for me. Happy with this product.

Not sure yet.
Bought this unit last night from Harvey Norman as i wanted to start making my own bread and move away from bleached flour and other additives.
I have not ever used one before, so i am not sure about the few things i am going to list.
Firstly, there is a very annoying squeaking sound when kneading, i followed all the pre use instructions and it still does it. Googled it, and says bearings need oiling? I don't ever remember my parents bread maker doing this.
Secondly, i read that the light isn't suppose to stay on all the time, which is fi...Read more

Disappointed with Purchase
We bought this bread maker on July 27. On August 7 something went bang, seemed the light had blown, as it baked the loaf. Tried to use it the next day but nothing was working. We took it to a repairer as recommended by Breville. It's been at the repairers for 3 weeks, they have been waiting for Breville to confirm if they are to repair, or replace. Now we are being told they are repairing, and it will take another 3-4 weeks. Contacted Breville to enquire if we can have a replacement or refund, they said we should have discussed that with ...Read more
the repairer. Breville said they would call us back after some investigating, but they haven't. Subsequent calls to Breville have not helped to resolve our issue, and they are unable to locate our previous conversations. This experience has put us off buying any Breville product again. Made good bread when it was working Brand new machine blew up, and it has been at the repairers for longer than we had it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic !
Yum yum yum - bread is cooked to perfection, crusty crust and soft inside. Definitely a winner in our house. I had purchased a cheaper Breville first and it was terrible, Appliances Online were awesome when I complained and they were happy to refund and I then purchased the more expensive model from them, spend a little extra and it will be well worth it if you love perfect home made bread.

Love my Breville bread maker
Mine is 10 years old! Obviously it's predecessor many times removed. It's paid for itself well and truly and makes superb breads and different types of dough. I love the freshness of the resulting products and being independent from what's on offer in the shops. The bread maker's reliability and durability encouraged me to stick with Breville products and they haven't let me down yet.
Quiet, great results every time, and the dough rises an ideal three times (just the best according to my naturopath) - a real partner in the kitchen.
I like my loaves a bit crus tier so I finish cooking them in the oven for an extra 15-20 minutes.

Are bread machines good value
I have a Breville BB420. It is a few years old but I would guess that I have made a maximum of 100 loaves of bread all up.
I know find that the spindle for the paddle will not stay in place and the paddle itself is worn where it slides over the spindle.
To my mind this is a result of bad engineering. I am not exactly sure as to what held the spindle in places there is a groove on the spindle and the bearing and it looks as though there was an O ring that stopped the spindle from sliding down. The design of the paddle, where it slides over...Read more
the spindle is an obvious wear point. This sort of design went out of fashion when ball bearings were invented. Surely Breville's design team could get to work and incorporate proper bearings in the part of the machine that is subjected to most of the work. Anyway I have calculated out that with machines running at around $300 dollars a go and my getting around just 100 loaves of bread that the machine cost per loaf is $3.00. Therefore I will be examining closely any machine I am considering buying to ascertain if I am going to have this problem again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love this appliance!
My husband bought me the Breville Custom Loaf Pro in January and I love it! I have found it great for pizza dough (although I prefer a different recipe to that in the booklet) and use it every week for making fruit loaf.
My only complaint is the size of the fruit and nut dispenser. The first time I made the wholemeal pecan and date loaf I followed the recipe but found that more fruit was needed. Now I just pile up the fruit, leaving the cover open to fit it and make sure I am around when the dispenser opens so I can make sure all fruit goes...Read more
in. This has not changed the texture of the loaf but certainly puts it streets ahead of store-bought bread. It is also great to play around with different fruit combinations. While there are some discrepancies in the recipe book it is a fantastic bread maker. The collapsible paddle is a definite plus as are the size and shape of the loaf. It is also very easy to clean Although it is quite an outlay it is a good investment. Easy to clean. Collapsible paddle. Fruit and nut dispenser is too smallSimilar opinion? Excellent and versatile machine.
I purchased this machine around 6 mths ago. Initially I was concerned that maybe it would end up in the bottom of the pantry like all those other gadgets, but NO! I use this at least 4 times a week for making bread and another few times to make pasta dough, pizza dough, hot cross bun dough, savoury scroll dough, focaccia, and many other mixes. I have used prepared bread mix packs and also made my own from scratch. Sourcing good strong flour is a challenge, but recently found '00' flour in 15kg pack cheaply at our local fruit & veg shop. is machine is easy to use, not too noisy - the initial squeak has gone, so much better now. The price of a pre pack mix loaf us around $1.40 and obviously less for making from scratch. I love the warm fresh bread smell in my home and all who have tried the bread from thus machine have been impressed. I got my machine on sale, so the upgrade to this model was not an issue, but I would happily paid full price for the extra features and quality of product. Light to view inside, programmable, easy to use, good sized loaf. A little noisy at points in its cycle.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Dissappointing
The breadmaker bowl and paddle have very "gentle" coating and got worn and scratched after few uses. Called the customer support and was told the bowl and paddle are not covered with the warranty. They offered me to buy a new bowl and paddle for about the half price I paid for the whole brand new breadmaker.
The "warranty" does not cover a half of the breadmaker

disappointed
This is my third Breville bread maker. Had the custom pro for two weeks & the light doesn't work. Also very 'clunky' sounding. Breville don't want to know, told me to return it to Myer. They have none in stock & don't know when they will. Next stop Consumer Protection. Why cant I buy an appliance that is built to perform any more.

You may mean that the light doesn't turn on ever, if so ignore this. If it turns on except when in the baking cycle, then I am told that is as it should be and it is the way ours works... Read more

Very efficient machine producing excellent finished product using Laucke premixes
I have used other brands of electric breadmaker over the past 18 years, inlcuding popular market names of Breville and Sunbeam products, however, this model (the Breville BBM800) is a breeze to handle, load, configure, unload and clean. I prefer to use one of the premix flour products, and have found the Laucke premix the most efficient for my purposes with a wide range of bread styles, flavours, and results. I must also commend Laucke for addressing my initial issues with the Breville BBM800 vs. ratio of flour to water for the Laucke premi...Read more

Very reliable, quite and efficient. I also commend Appliances Online for their prompt recall of the faulty Sunbeam machine and immediate replacement with the more up-market Breville BBM800 including collection of the failed Sunbeam and exchange with the BrevilleSimilar opinion? Awesome machine!
I've had this bread maker for about a month and made about 4 loafs and I really cannot fault it. I love how it mixes it rises it and bakes it as I previously could never get my dough to rise enough. I was lucky enough to get my machine for $169 as I went to the QLD Breville factory outlet and they were on special I only bought it because it was so cheap I would never have paid $350 although maybe if I used one first then saw how awesome it is. I accidentally put a white loaf on rapid one time and followed the troubleshooting instructions in the...Read more

Best bread maker I have used but does not last
We have had this bread maker for nearly two years only and we use it constantly but is is now having serious trouble. At first it worked perfectly but now it is making some really loud noises and is not cooking the bread as well as it did originally. We find it best to start the cycle with the stirring arm in the upright position or otherwise it does not mix the bread as it does not stand up on the correct cycle during kneading. At the end of the third kneading we remove the Kneading stirring arm to avoid the bread being damaged. I expect and expensive bread maker like this to last longer than 2 years.........
Settings can be set up to your requirements, not fully Auto

Good
So far so good. It makes bread.
Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but water interacting with the stainless steel causes streaking very easily.
I found some recipes make the bread too dry. The cheaper model below this one has recipes that are not included in the premium model for some reason.
Almost every loaf I have made so far has been lopsided when I am pretty sure done everything exactly as recipe says to do.
I wish the loaf pan & paddles were dishwasher safe.
Reliable. Good looking.
Water causes streak marks easily. Expensive. Not dishwasher safe. Recipe book errors & lack of recipes. Lopsided loafs.

Excellent machine
Before I bought this machine I had read a few reviews. Now I've had it for about 3 months and I have to say this is one of my best investments. I've made different types of bread. However, I find the recipe needs adjustment, esp the classic sourdough. It needs more water. And also, after 3 months of use the machine now produces a squeaking noise when kneading the dough. I'm not sure if the paddle needs replacement. But all in all, great machine
easy to use, makes good bread
bulky, expensive

How do I get the crust to brown?
1 answer
You have a custom pro machine. It is programmable. Read your book. Your programme selection dial can be turned anticlockwise and here you can start your very own set of programs. Select all the parameters that are in the program that you like that you are happy with, change just one at a time. Perhaps raise the baking temp 4- 5 degrees, or extend the baking time 5-10 minutes. But don’t do both at the one time.
Ida M.asked
I am getting a - - - H message. The machine has not been used for little over a week and has not been used intensively. Even put it in a room with a/c (live in a hot weather). Yet still get the message and can’t get it to work. Any help?
Jack M.asked
How do you get a decent colour on the top of the loaf? Mine always comes pale and looking uncooked.
