I have just noticed after using my fast slow pro today that there is a discolouration of the coatings on the inside of the removal pan? Has anyone else noticed this? Should I be worried?
It's looks like a heat burn mark? It's blackish?
2 answers
Hi Casey, no I haven't noticed this on mine. for any odours & cleaning I have used a bit of bicarb soda and lemon juice, dissolved into the pan with water, whilst washing up.

Does anyone know what the bowl is made from?
It looks like Teflon.
Yes or No?

Hi gwenreyn. It's not Teflon. It's ceramic coated steel I think. It's ok to dishwash but better by handwash.
Update - see below question from the 8th Nov, Breville have answered it.

Question to Breville please... With the Fast Slow Pro BPR 700 how long should it take to reach pressure? Mine seems to take an inordinate amount of time, and sometimes it doesn't reach pressure at all...

Hope Breville can assist with trouble shooting. Mine takes about 15 mins or so, depending on the level required. Your machine may be faulty? Good luck.
return it to the retailer and ask them to exchange it
It would really be great to have an official response on this from Breville. I see some questions are answered promptly and others not at all. Is it normal that the Breville Fast Slow Pro bpr700 takes up to 30 minutes to pressurise before it starts cooking?

I've just inboxed my Breville Fast Slow Pro, should there be a recipe book? The lady at Harvey Norman said that it was in the box but I don't seem to see it. I see I can download it but wondered if a hard copy should be included?
10 answers
Hi Casey, I definitely got a recipe book in my box along with the instructions
Yes, there should be - it's called "Full time, half time, meal time" foreword by Heston.
Thank you, I'll head back in tomorrow and see if I can get a copy :-)

My fast and slow pro cooker keep showing lid not seal, how can I fix it? I just got it yesterday.
4 answers
Sometimes the rubber seal doesn't sit properly so the pressure cooker says its not closed or the liquid level is too high. All you do is unlock and then lock your lid and it should be right. Do not open lid just twist the knob to unlock and lock.
Make sure the pressure release valve at the back, is turned to about the 4-5 o'clock position, and check the pin lines up when you look from above on the right side of the lid. hope that makes sense! enjoy!
Thanks !!!

Anyone else having issue with the steam function not moving past the preheating stage? I've gone through 5 of these units and all of them have the same issue. I had one that worked correctly for 2 months then quit.

11. Once the cooker has reached pressure, the “PREHEATING’ will go out, the cooker alert will sound, the timer will start counting down and the pressure bar will stop climbing, indicating the current pressure in the vessel.
I bought a BPR700 on 4the March could not fault it. However I noticed after preheating the cooker alert don't sound. I called customer service with the problem on the 8th March and was told to take it back and exchange it for another which I did, I returned home and tryed again, the new one is exactly the same, no alert when timer started. Is there a fault with the cooker or the instruction book?
1 answer
Sorry, can't help you with this one because I am hearing impaired and cannot hear the alert anyway. All I can say is that if it's getting to pressure, counting down, and your food is cooked, I wouldn't be too concerned about the alert sounding or not.
Helenasked
Fast slow pro Bpr700, is it normal to preheat for 30 minutes prior to pressure cooking? The end result has been great but unfortunately I am unable to get clarity from your customer service representatives. I called on 2 occasions inquiring about preheat times and the first person I spoke with told me to return the item as it should take no longer than 5-8 minutes, I decided to give it another try and made a total of 5 dishes and on every occasion the preheat was no less than 26 minutes, more annoying than time saving.
1 answer
Mine takes 15-30 minutes to preheat depending on what I'm cooking and how much pressure is required. I also thought it would reach pressure more quickly but seeing as it doesn't, I have just adjusted my times to start the machine earlier to account for this.
Mengasked
Can the fast slow pro bake without involving steam I.e. In regular dry heat mode like in an oven?
2 answers
It's also a slow cooker but I don't think it has high temperatures similar to an oven. Not sure on that one. Perhaps it's more a question for the good folks at Breville. :)
BrevilleBreville
Hi Meng - this is a pressure cooker and a slow cooker in one unit. More information can be found at http://www.breville.com.au/the-fast-slow-protm.html and you can download the instruction booklet for more information and visit www.foodthinkers.com.au for recipe ideas. Thanks, the Breville team
Marleneasked
Can the timer be set for less than 5 mins, for cooking fruit?
3 answers
I don't think so. I found with this model that 5 mins is the minimum time. With other brands of electronic pressure cookers, I found even 2 mins was too much for fruit so I always stuck to cooking fruit either in the microwave or on the stove.
BrevilleBreville
Hi Marlene - five minutes is the minimum amount of time you can pressurise for on this machine. Thanks, the Breville team
It means you cannot make soft boiled eggs at 3 minutes at low pressure which the Instant Pot is famous for being able to do. This is a downfall of this pressure cooker (now I wish I have the instant pot)

Winterasked
Can I make yoghurt in this too? What are the differences between this and the BR200? Thanks :)
1 answer
Hi Winter. I have no idea about making yoghurt in a slow cooker sorry but you could check their website as the cookbook for this unit is there.
The main differences between the 200 and 700 are that the lid had a different configuration; it screws on and off an arm. Also, you can choose the pressure you want to cook at. No more high and low - you have many settings in between. You also have a few choices on how to release pressure and a variety of presets. I really like the saute and sear functions because you can choose the temp you wish to brown food with. All in all, it's a lovely unit.

Is the insert bowl stainless steel? Stainless steel with ceramic coating? Aluminum? Aluminum with ceramic coating?
