So far - 100% perfect
I bought this in March to prepare for teaching remotely from home - in particular, I needed an A3 scanner to photocopy textbook resources etc. to scan and send to the kids.
It is big, but that is necessary for A3 capabilities. Set up was straightforward, but you did need to follow the instructions (took around 15-20 minutes including updates). The only problem was that it asked for a password for the update, and a Google search showed me such passwords are usually something like "initpass" (which worked).
Everything has worked perfectly for t...Read more
he last 6 weeks - it scans and prints beautifully, and the time between pressing the button on my computer and the machine to react is close to instantaneous. Also, although I needed to install software for my Windows laptop, my Mac worked with NO installation at all! After I set up my printer, all I had to do was locate it on my Mac and print! I am a light user, but so far, after 6 weeks, it is perfect and I have no complaints. Excellent product.Purchased in March 2021 at The Good Guys.

Good start, but disappointed
Bought this to replace an earlier similar model Brother A3 flatbed scanner/printer. Very similar in operation, but unfortunately:
1. The control icon is "Control Centre 4". It is located within a "Utilities" shortcut which can be placed on the desktop/icon tray.
a. It is not possible to create a shortcut of CC4, which makes it a 2-step operation to use
b. Within CC4, it is necessary to take 2 (further) steps to scan, rather than the single step with the previous version (Control Centre 3)
Too much of my time wasted
2. The flat bed placement of...Read more

This printer has so many issues - no longer works with Mac now as well
This printer has been a nightmare since out of the box. Won't connect to wifi, now the software is no longer compatible with Mac and Brother have released a statement saying they will no longer support Mac with this model. Have owned for 12 months and throwing it out because of how much of a pain it is. Prints pretty well, good speed. Just the connectivity and scanning is useless. Scanning automatically flips the pdf no matter which way you put it on the flatbed or ADF. You can change settings to try and work around this, but often it will flip it again or crop the image. Brother offers no tech support too.

Worst machine - total waste of money
I spend hours trying to convince this printer to do simple things. Print a single piece of paper? Nah, only going to print 2/3 of the page so I waste ink, paper and time reprinting the stupid thing. Can't print more than 1x A3 page at a time, cant even put more than one into the slot or it will try and print over multiple a4 pages. Constantly have black ink all over pages. Find it easier to print one copy then photocopy each time. No troubleshooting options, will just say error and let you figure it out. I beg you, don't waste your money!

This is by far the worst printer I have ever owned.
Unless you want sporadic and very small volume printing this is not the printer for you! I was told by Officeworks staff that this would be a great printer for my small business. Not so. I spend half of my time re-feeding paper, dealing with continuous paper feed issues etc that I now actually loathe having to use the stupid thing, however I cannot afford to get just another printer so I have to make do with this malformed creature of a machine. I have wasted countless pieces of paper with the printer just jamming them up so I have to use MORE ...Read more
paper and it takes demonstrably LONGER than my previous printer which was fabulous, (I had very few issues with it but unfortunately is no longer made anymore). I struggle on a daily basis to convince the printer it is actually connected to my computer - it is connected via hardwire so when I am told about 6 times a day that the printer is not connected, I have issues believing it. I have taken the cord out and put it back in more times than I care to remember, yet I keeps having issues until It decides it wants to actually acknowledge the hardwired connection to my computer. I could not be more unhappy with a printer if I tried. Also, it has a massive footprint so it takes up a stupid amount of my reception area's desk space. I would be happy to swap bench space for a good quality printer which does not cost me at least 15 minutes, most times demonstrably more, every time I consider printing anything in my business. I absolutely hate this machine.Purchased in September 2021 at Officeworks.

Total workhorse if you have the space for it
When this arrived I kind of freaked out as it's a big unit- way bigger than the printer I had BUT I also had no end of trouble with that also hence the upgrade. The Brother was easy to set up, is a breeze to use and so fast for scanning and printing. If you need a serious workhorse this is a great printer. Ink I got through Ink Station for $40. Very happy with it

Wow am impressed by this $201 printer
I bought this Brother MFC-J6530DW because it could print and scan/copy A3 as I'm in the process of building a house and architect plans were easier to read in A3 rather than shrunken A4. Gotta say I'm impressed. But be warned - Windows 10 did not have the drivers for this printer even after I updated the drivers through Microsoft. I had to go directly to the Brother website to specifically download the J6530 drivers. Do yourself a favour and save the installation time by doing this rather than mucking around with generic drivers (I did this...Read more
because I don't have a CD reader on my laptop). What impressed me next was the ability to print from my mobile smartphone - that did take a bit of setting up (had to download the Brother iPrint and Scan app to my phone) but it worked. Same as the send to an email address to print the attachment - that worked. I got to warn you though it does help if you have some knowledge of IT so maybe it was a bit easier for me to get the issues I encountered resolved - I suspect if I had relied on the Quick Start Guide - I'd still be scratching my head wondering why I could not print. I set it up over my wired LAN but can still print over WiFi okay (as my router is connected to the printer). Print quality is good - not a good as say getting Kwikcopy to do it for me - but hey only paid $201 for it (with free shipping - had to do a double take on that as I expected a fee for shipping). I bought from an on-line retailer. Foot print is a bit large as it can scan and photocopy directly A3 - so have a large desk spot for it. It's not that heavy - I lugged it up 1 flight of stairs by myself. I could fit the box it came in the back of my Ford sedan (had to pick it up from delivery depot because shipping company kept missing me). Only had it for 1 day - I may update this review after I've run it for a several months. I also bought this printer because Brother LC ink cartridges were less expensive than HP and although expensive still at least affordable. I guess that's where most printer companies make their money now - from selling ink ... LOLPurchased in April 2021 at ItsWisdom.com.au for A$201.00.

Much better than I expected
This printer has been great so far. Connection to the network is reliable receives commands and prints very quickly. For a simple somewhat boring design they did put a nice sound on the machine (I enjoy the odd gimmick). There are also loads of extras to download onto the printer itself if you got time to play around.
The only issue is the print feed is single sided, but I new that when I got it (extra $70 aud for double side). The colours are pretty good for an office printer but nothing compared to a dedicated photo printer. The gradients a...Read more

Great printer for home office.
I recently bought this machine as an upgrade for my home office and I'm very happy with it. It connects wirelessly to my computer or phone without any issues. printing quality is very good if it's documents, not that great with photos but I don't mind. It's fast, quiet and easy to use. Great value for money. Definitely recommend it :)

Hi there does it has the double sided scanning function
1 answer
Not on this model. It only has single sided scanning on the Automatic feed. Apparently the pc app has a setting for it but more trouble than it's worth. I gave up.
However, the MFC-J6930DW does have does have double sided scanning in monochrome (black, grey, white).
This is mention in the brochure:
Single Pass 2-sided (duplex) Scan Speed Monochrome
A4 portrait: 36ipm, A4 landscape: 22ipm, A3: 16ipm
