Great kettle, does the job
I've had this kettle for over four years now. It does everything you want a kettle to do; the whistle works (and is quite loud!), it pours well, the paint has remained in good condition despite being used everyday on my gas stove. I am surprised at the negative reviews; I haven't had any issues with flakey bits or anything. It's been a good kettle, but admittedly I got it for $20 brand new from an op shop, so maybe I had low expectations...

Flakey Bits
I kept wondering what the white flakey bits were in the bottom of my kettle...........hmmmmmmmm the coating has seemingly boiled off over time. You have to be extremely careful about the spout too as it splutters everywhere when pouring. The whistle is extremely loud too. Won't be purchasing Circulon products again.

wow full whistle
I bought with doubts about the plastic content, however, who would have know the whistle was so pathetic. Of course I should have reviewed it first because I've also paid the top price for it at $84.95. It is very disappointing as my previous Circulon kettle, which was all steel, served me well for 8 years.

Worst kettle ever?
Avoid avoid avoid! The whistle is like a lonely train toooting in the distance. I've boiled this dry many times because I haven't heard it. Plastic parts including the whistle have melted. It sprays boiling water and steam everywhere when pouring, and the handle came apart from the body after less than a year. A dangerous chunk o junk.

Worst Design Ever
This is an expensive piece of junk. The worst designed kettle and dangerous. The spout splatters boiling water no matter how carefully you pour it and dribbles all over the cup. The lid to fill kettle sits in under the handle and really difficult to remove for filling especially when the kettle is hot as there is no other way to fill. Where the stainless meets the colored kettle body is always caking with white powder - we have the best tank water that has never effected other kettles this way and it cant be cleaned off. Cannot fill the kettle ...Read more
via the spout as it is the wrong angle so have to fight with the top lid which then is hard to remove due to the handle location. The inside has rusted and there are large flakes that end up in the water. Unbelievable as there are no positives other than the look and colour - pretty poor given it is a kettle not a piece of art!! The colour and lookSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great quirky kettle
I read the bad reviews after I had bought my kettle, at a reduced price online, so was expecting the worst. Actually, I love this kettle which I've now had for about a month and use it on an electric stove daily. At first the whistle didn't work, but I found there was a small screw inside the spout lid which enabled the whistle once I adjusted it. It now sounds like a muted steam train when it boils - lovely sound and is plenty loud enough. As far as the pouring goes, I've had no issues with spilling as stated in other reviews - just open the s...Read more
pout with the button and pour..... The main lid is a tight fit, so I generally fill with water through the spout. Time will tell with regard to any pitting, but so far so good - our water is fairly soft so maybe the issue is the water hardness?? I rinse it out about once a week, and have had no issues with the water smelling or tasting weird either. Will update this review if I find any issues, but so far, it's all good! Whistle sound and traditional kettle appearance. None so far.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Spilling spout
This is a nicely made and finished kettle but the spout spills as you are filling the cup. Even when poured very carefully. It would cause a very nasty burn if someone is holding the cup. the splatter on a certain angle ( when cup is nearly full) is quite wide spread.
The look and the one piece cast base. Should not rust in the corners like my last two kettled
Dangerous spilling Of boiling water

Junk
Almost every design mistake possible to make is executed here! Scalded hand/s is just one issue. The water sprays out when pouring and generally covers the bench top. The whistle sound is too quiet and fails altogether after a few months of use. This is the third kettle we've had, the first was replaced under warranty (whistle failure) the second we just gave up on, it too had whistle failure. This third kettle was a gift and is now two months old and has just had the whistle fail completely. Exposed stainless parts also rust quite readily and the risk of scalding is ever present due to very poor spout design. For the money it is just rubbish. A $12.00 one from Big W is far superior.

Bad taste and smell of water
Purchased this kettle from myer couple months ago, just searched on net to find same problem, water smells and tastes really awful after boiled. Hope not drinking any bad chemicals. Will follow up returning it and going back to the electric kettle. It was not a cheap kettle approx $70 and don't understand this but really is bad. Resorted to also using microwave for hot water.
Looks good trying to save on power using gas
Bad water smell and bad tasting water when boiled

Melting spout cover
Whistle sound is weird but fine, quite got used to it.
The spout cover melted as the gas stove flame must have been coming up the edge a bit This is insane design to have a kettle that will be sitting on top of a flame with parts that melt when close to flame. Only had it 4 days.
A good sized volume.
A melting spout cover is a disastrous design.

Sounds is a bit disturbing
I have now had this kettle for a few months and going OK so far. It is easy to clean.
The sound the whistler makes is really weird all of my guests comment about it. The top that goes in also seems to make a weird bubbling sound and has some surface rust on it( easy to remove with alfoil rubing)
Silicon handles, mean no need to use pot holder
Whistling sound

Whistling Stove-top Kettle
A well-made product but terrible design. It can be quite dangerous to use as the spout sits far too high and is not set at a good angle, therefore steam can and does burn your hands. Also the water level mark cannot be seen when when filling the kettle so there should be a see-through part so one doesn't have to 'guess' the amount that goes in.
Looks reasonable
Dangerous to use and the whistle sounds more like the fog horn on the Queen Mary.

ack to Victoria's Basement and they spent about 20 minutes checking it when it was blatantly obvious. It was only $25, not sure why it was such a big deal to staff with a refund of that amount. Terrible service in that manner when they have open themselves in endangering people's health.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
