Noisiest AC I have ever owned
XL Reverse Cycle FTXV85LVMA (8.5 kW)I have just installed this unit based on my installers recommendation.
The unit has excellent cooling abilities but the fan never turns off! Even when the temperature is well below the set point the fan just keeps going……and going ……and going.
And even on the lowest fan setting the fan noise is incredibly loud - even louder than a ceiling fan on med speed.
Ever other AC unit I have owned turns on/off at night, but not this unit. Once you start to focus on the noise you will never here anything else.
I called the Daiken technical team and even

XL Reverse Cycle FTXV95LVMA (9.4 kW)The product is terrible, it’s outdated and looks like something from the 80. It looks nothing like what Daikin advertise and nothing like what the Daikin Explore Air app shows.

XL Premium Reverse Cycle FTXM95PAVMA (9.4 kW)Installed, it cost about $3200.
It's quiet and you never hear it running, have had it for about 4 months now. Your dealer may tell you it's not WiFi compatible, apparently their WiFi units are intended for the smaller systems and don't fully work with the larger units.
However, we had them do it anyway and they wanted to see if they even could. It does work, can be tricky to sync up, multiple closes of the app on the phone were required, and it doesn't have all the features.
Can basically turn it on and off when you are out of home and cha

Cools the entire house extremely quick for reference it's a 4 bedroom with a granny flat, it will keep the lounge and hallways cold, the cool will seep into the rooms and granny flat as well.I love it

XL Premium Reverse Cycle FTXM85PAVMA (8.5 kW)This is the best air con that I have ever gotten. It is perfect. Very quiet, you don't even know it is on. It cools the house perfectly and it doesn't take long to do so. It cools the whole unit. I am loving it and recommend it to anyone

XL Premium Reverse Cycle FTXM85PAVMA (8.5 kW)Needed a AC system downstairs for a large room. This system provides manatee options including timer and eye function - if there is no one or movement in the room it reduces to energy saving mode. The remote function is easy to use and the user manual is written in very simple English.

XL Premium Reverse Cycle FTXM85PAVMA (8.5 kW)Had to replace our 12 year old unit and upgraded to a larger unit. The difference between 7.1 and 8.5 kw is noticable. The internal and external units are substantially larger in size, but the power to cool is well worth the upgrade. The design of the interior unit is sleak and unobtrusive. Both indoor and outdoor units are extremely quiet and power consumption is comparable to the smaller unit. Very happy that we went with another Daikin.
Questions & Answers
I’m reading lots of people having issues with units developing an annoying ticking sound that multiple service visits cannot fix.
My local fridgey has quoted me to install a Cora 9.4kw. Has this noise issue been rectified? Reviewers say it is a design fault?
Should I avoid this model line? Daikin rep?
I can’t comment on the annoying ticking as I haven’t experienced it to date. I can say the unit is noisier the expected and the after sales service I terrible. The unit is also outdated and looks like it’s from the 80s.
Based on my experience and the unit we had installed I would encourage you to look at other brands. Hope that’s helpful.
Is the FTXM85PVMA the same as FTXM85Q?
How do you stop p8.55 daikin from leaki k water out of bottom drain plugs?
Do you mean from the outside unit? If so it needs to drain somewhere. If it can't then dig a bucket size hole and fill with gravel and put the hose into it about half way so it can soak into the ground. If the inside unit is leaking the in the instructions, it says you need to tighten the allen screw inside the plug to expand it to stop leaking. Mine didn't have this. Otherwise you could silastic the plug in.
