My Citiz leaks into the used capsule holder and makes a mess. What can I do?
8 answers
Hello Bert... as I have not encountered this problem I suggest you call the Nespresso Club & discuss it with them - they are very friendly & helpful.
Regards Judy
I've just started having the same problem. Coffee still comes out the spout but I also see it running into the capsule container and as a result I get less coffee in my cup and a huge mess all over the counter. I've noticed this only started happening after I descaled my machine. I'm wondering if there is a blockage somewhere. Will descale again and see if this fixes the problem. Did you find out what the cause of the problem was?
Also having the same problem - leaks everywhere. Also tried the descaling etc etc.- - swearing didn't help either.
From what I have seen on this site and various others; it seems like a design flaw.
Hope someone can come up with a solution that doesn't require visiting the various repairers who charge $100 non refundable just to look at it.

My separate milk heater keeps boiling over even when I put milk in under the line limit, does anyone know what causes this to happen?
2 answers
You are probably still putting too much milk in. These milk frothers are pretty much only good for creating over aerated froth. I found that you only need a small quantity of milk. The brother on this machine simply packed up after about two weeks use and a separate stand alone brother was purchased to take its place. Unfortunately, that is also just the same, requires a small amount of milk and froths the milk too much. Once it finishes its cycle, the texturised mile resembles nothing like what it should if done properly with a steam wand. If you know what a good Flat White or Latte looks and tastes like, this is the wrong machine. You would probably be better of with an Automatic machine or better if you get a manual machine where you extract the coffee and texturise the milk with a steam wand.
I suggest you contact the Nespresso Club who are always very helpful.

My nespresso is leaking out the bottom and the coffee is only coming out in small amount x 2, also when I attach the milk component the machine won't work. Is there a way to descale even though the descale light is not on? thanks -- Lattissima + model

Hi Jess...I haven't had any problems with my Nespresso Citiz machine so I can't help you with your problems. However I suggest you give the Nespresso Club a call & let them know of your problems - they have always been extremely helpful any time I've called them. Good luck.
Same problem with my unit. After brushing(with tooth brush) the inside of the nozzle inlet 10 times, made it a little better. Using a compressor, blow air into the outside part of the nozzle, which remove the debris. Now it works properly.
Why doesn't the frother spin on my Delonghi Citiz

Hi everyone, I've just bought this machine and wondering where I can buy coffee pods for it. Does it only take Nespresso ones from the Nespresso shop? Has anyone found that you can buy suitable ones at Woolies or Coles?
2 answers
Yes Coles and Wollies sell pods that are compatible with Nespresso Machines. I only ever use Coles Brand Pods. $3.70 for 10. They have them in different strengths
and they seem to sell very quickly at Bondi Coles. Just check the packs they have compatible with Nespresso on the front of the box.
Don't know where you are located but I buy Gourmesso capsules online. While they do not have the variety that Nespresso does, they are good and most people have just a few favorites anyway. I would imagine that they could ship anywhere. The best part - if you pay through Pay Pal you have the option of paying after delivery 14 days later. :-)

Doesn't give proper coffee shot.
How can I reset it to work for full or half shot?
1 answer
Sorry cannot help you. Ring Nespresso Club 1800 623 033 they are fantastic. They will help you straight away. If they think there is a fault in the machine they send you out a replacement on loan and send you out packaging to return your machine. They fix it and return it door to door by TNT. It costs you nothing. You will never get better service.

My milk is hot but not very frothy. Using the spring attachment. Any suggestions?
2 answers
Yes. Make sure you lightly press the on bottom. Pressing too hard will give you more of a steamed milk for lattes as opposed to froth.
Hope this helps!
Sorry I do not know. Ring Nespresso they will help you on the line and tell exactly what is wrong. It the top is not working correctly they will replace it. They send out packaging and everything.

My delonghi nespresso will not turn on when plugged in i.e no lights come on. The frothed works but not the coffee part. What can I do?
2 answers
Hi Edd,
If you haven't tried to unplug the machine, plug it back in and then turn it back on I would do so. If it still is not working I would call Nespresso. They are really good with troubleshooting and if the machine will still not work they may ask that you return to them to see if they can repair it. If you ask they will most likely send you a loaner machine while you are waiting. I am pretty sure that should the machine not be able to be repaired and if it is out of warranty they will give you $100 off a new one. If inside the warranty period they will replace it. My last machine broke not too long outside of the warranty period and after some negotiation they agreed to send me a new machine free of charge. Granted it was "reconditioned" but looked brand new. I have had it for almost 6 months and have had no issues. Nespresso's reconditioned machines are usually returns shortly after purchase simply because someone didn't like it.
Hope this helps!
Ring Nespresso they are fantastic.

Hello, my milk frother froths but does not heat the milk . Any ideas for troubleshooting please ?

I always put my coffee in the microwave for 20 or 30 seconds as it is never hot enough for me as I love it boiling. It if froths and no heat at all Ring up Nespresso they are fantastic. They pick up the milk container. They send you out a box to put it in and a label. They will give you a loan machine and bring it back when it is fixed. They are absolutely fantastic for service. If under guarantee it is no cost at all an comes back perfect. You will not get better service off anyone and they are lovely on the phone ever so helpful. They will answer any question and will be able to tell you immediately what is wrong. Just give them a ring you do not have to hang on long at all.
That happened to me once too but the next time I used it, it was fine. Very strange.
I would call Nespresso if it happens again. Depending on how long you have had it they may replace for free.
The frother works hot and cold I had the same problem because I am heavy handed and pressed the button too long. For a hot preparation, briefly press button to start. Button lights up Red. For cold milk froth, keep button pressed for approx. 2 seconds. Button lights up Blue.

My unit does not always pierce all the capsule so giving a weak coffee. I have tried correct descale it helped a bit but second cup is weak ? Any ideas.?
2 answers
Are you using nespresso capsules? If not it may account for the weak coffee. I would contact nesoresso. They are very helpful. Im sorry i couldn't be of more help.
I have had that happen. I have put it in again and it works. I put mine on the third circle the big one at the back. It can happen to different brand of pods. I always heat my coffee for an extra 20 or 30 seconds as I love it boiling hot. You realise on coffee pods there is a number and the higher the number the stronger the pod. They go from about 3 to 11. I like a 6 and I always buy Coles pods.

My milk is not getting hot. Its only lukewarm and frothy. Can can I fix this please?
3 answers
I always put mine in the microwave for 20 seconds even though the milk gets hot. I am one of those people that love my coffee very very hot. The girl in the coffee shop told me once on their machine if you like it hot say a very hot coffee as apparently machines in the shop have two settings. One is hot and the other very hot. If it is only very warm
there could be a fault and Nespresso will fix your machine in a jiffy. They have the best service I have ever known they go out of their way to help you.
Have spoken to several people with this machine and they don't encounter heating problems. Our citi heats well and the thermostat works well. Take it back to Nespresso, even if warranty period expired. If they can afford George Clooney, they can afford to replace your frother. You just shouldn't have this problem. Cleaning the frothers is another issue....the milk burns onto the bottom and there is little you can do about it.
Thanks guys for your help. Sue I get your point but why buy it if you have to put it in the microwave. And TQ this machine is only 3 days old so not out of warranty.

The coffee from my deonghi nespresso is very weak.....as if the capsules aren't enough...does anybody know if I'm doing something wrong?
3 answers
The Capsules are in various strengths on the side of the packet up to 11 I think. You can buy all different strengths. I am happy with 6. My brother loves 11. On the side of the packet it will have the number also you can check on the Nespresso site. I love Coles capsules they work great in mine as well as their Milk.
It is the strength of the Capsules that count. Nespresso goes from 3 to 11. I like a number 6 my brother will only have number 11 as it is very strong. You will notice on the Nespresso box the strength number. Higher the number the stronger it is. You can buy a box of Nespresso variety pack and the brochure gives you the number of each capsule or you can check the Nespresso site and it shows all the flavours and strength beside it. I really think it is better than any purchased coffee you can get. If you go to Nespresso shop they will give you a taste of any capsule you like and you can judge for yourself.
It all depends on what coffee you have ordered, and also if you are using the right water amount (short or long). If you are using Nespresso capsules, it could just be that you are using a weaker coffee. The only ones I can stand are are 9 and above, the others taste very weak to me.

Does the milk frother turn off when frothing is completed.?
2 answers
Yes, the frother switches off after the frothing and heating process. The auto timer seems good. The problem appears to be that the heat is applied in one very small area....hence burning the milk a tad. After about 30 uses, the frother is very hard to clean due to burnt on residue. We still clean the frother as best we can and still use it. The problem does not seem to affect the taste of the coffee. But the cleaning is an absolute pain...working in a very confined area and the burn marks are REALLY burnt on. Would not recommend the machine based on this final aspect. Hope helps. T.
Yes I can say that the milk frother does turn off after heating the milk. Once finished, I immediately rinse and clean the inside of the milk frother. I tend to disagree with the above about heat applied to just one small area. Mine completely heats the whole of the milk. I've certainly used mine well over the 30 uses since I got it. I use mine constantly every day.
With cleaning inside, I just pop out the frother gadget and washes that and thoroughly rinses and drys before putting back on. For inside, I find to clean up just a little bit more, I use one of those magic erasers at the end of the day of usage of the milk frother container. Honestly, I love this coffee machine and can highly recommend it.

Using the Nespresso Lattissma plus could some body please tell me how to make a double latte thank you all?
1 answer
I don't have the Lattissma but I would assume you put the milk in first then add the coffee to then add more milk and ending with coffee again.
I've just mastered making a cappachino on my Citiz.
You could probably look at you tube to maybe find out how they do it. Good luck :-)

We have a deLonghi Ciyiz approx. 18 months old.
It has started leaking water out bottom of machine whilst making a coffee.
I expect it is a hole in water supply to brew head ?/
Can this be repaired???
Thanks
Ross Luck
2 answers
I'd assume so. If it's out of warranty you might have to ring or email Delonghi and ask who their local repairer is in your region. For example, I have to drive 20km to Ellis Electrical in Dandenong, who seem to be the repairer for lots of brands of coffee machines (Krupps, Delonghi etc). They should give you a free quote for the repair.
I had the same issue - if you ring nespresso machine support line (1800 number) they will explain to you how to clean the pyramid plate & how to descale. These machines have 19bar pressure & the plate referred to needs cleaning when the coffee grounds build up on the face which punctures the pod tops. my delonghi machine is 6 years old & I too thought something was broken but these cleaning procedures fixed the problem, apparently the machine is designed to "leak" when blocked to eliminate risks from pressure build up.

After descaling my Nespresso EN 125 S machine it no long switches off automaticlly. Can I programe it to switch off automaticlly?
1 answer
This hasn't happened to me. I suspect something is faulty or that the descaling left some residue over a sensor. Perhaps try descale again?

Our new milk frother always burns in one spot and it is now impossible (without scratching harshly, which I don't want to do) to remove the mark. Has anyone else had problems with a hotspot? Model no is 3194

I don't have one of these machines but used my daughter's one when on holidays. Had constant problems with the frother as the milk burnt at the bottom of the spindle so the frother mechanism wouldn't spin. Daughter said it seemed to be a design fault. She had to scrape the burnt milk off with her finger nail before it would work despite thorough washing with boiling water. I was going to buy one of these machines but based on my experience with this one changed my mind. Have seen other machines with a frother that seems to have easier access and must be easier to clean.
Having exactly the same problem... Frother lights starts flashing after a few seconds... Milk burning on the bottom in the same place...
Can you buy a replacement?
What's the answer???
Charles Rampantasked
My milk frother /heater goes for about 12 seconds after pushing button but then stops and light flashes everything else works okay.
1 answer
Your frothier is overheating... The gadget that froths the milk is not turning around on the spindle so the milk overheats. You need to scrape off the burnt milk and clean the spindle, hard to do, maybe a hard bristle toothbrush would do it. Design fault.
Peter Thompsonasked
I gather Nesspresso are taking no responsibility for the the design fault that causes milk burn in the milk heater. Is this true ?
