Don't buy

published

Painted a two bedroom unit, after two coats I got a "fair" finish. Looked great going on but once dry it became patchy and still is in places. As far as "wash and wear" goes doesn't live up to the TV ads, most marks simply don't come off the finish looks more matte than low sheen which I was told is the finish I would get. The toilet required three coats because the light coming in from the window made the patchiness too noticeable, there are still some patches but I can sort of live with it. Took me four hours to paint a small toilet. In my opinion; a complete waste of time and money.

Antibac has your back

published

I find the anti bac has good coverage. The smell takes a couple weeks to disappear though. You need to get it up quick and roll on wet to avoid roller lines. The low sheen finish is probably a bit shinier than other brands and what I would prefer, and it does texture/orange peel more easily than other brands, but the colour is perfect and it is easy to clean compared to other paints. I’ve rolled it, sprayed it and also sprayed with an airless and back rolled and all methods work well. Spraying does tend to go through more.

Poor quality product for the price

published

My wife picked Vivid White and having never used Dulux vivid white before I believed it would be a quality product given its price point.

I can easily say this is one of the worst quality paints and the coverage of surface area is extremely poor.

I have painted for many years and I would recommend many other paints before this one. Extremely disappointing!

Good paint, forgiving and easy to apply

published

I have just completed painting the 3 bedrooms in my house with Dulux Wash & Wear Low Sheen (Tranquil retreat grey) and found it easy to apply with good coverage ( 2 coats per room ). Re coat time was short, painted 1st coat in the morning and re coated the same afternoon ( hot weather ), time will tell of the durability but so far happy with the result achieved. Not sure why so many other reviews are saying 4 - 5 coats are required for even coverage (possibly people are skimping on equipment / prep or got bad batches of paint)? I am not a pro painter but did not find the product difficult to use.

Good paint, easy to apply, good finish

published

Can't fault the product, but give it 4 stars as I don't truly believe the +kitchen+bathroom really adds any value to the normal version of this paint (other than marketing).
Easy to apply paint (I'm not a professional painter), great finish. Dulux is a premium brand but you get what you pay for.

Don't bother not worth the trouble

published

I have painted my house several times over the years with no trouble. Bought a new house with an average paint job so decided I would repaint. Never having used Dulux before I thought it was the best so purchased 10 litres of Wash & Wear Low Sheen. MISTAKE. My new house looks worse than before. After 5 coats on one wall and 4 on another the walls look poorly painted with shocking coverage and you see every mark. This paint is terrible. Throwing the rest away and going back to my previous brand. Never again Dulux spend more money on your paint and less on your advertising. It will prove beneficial in the long run. I don't much care about the $175 but I do care about my wasted days to have to start again.

Never use anything else

published

I don't understand so many bad reviews.
I have used dulux wash and wear for years and have tried other brands when doing a feature wall for example because i liked that brands shade on their colour chart but they don't work as well.
I now still use dulux paint and use the another brands colour in it if i have to.
I find it dries cleanly and smoothly and I've never had a patchy finish on either light or dark colours
Dries reasonably quick
easily water clean up
Afterwards any marks that occur can mostly be wiped off and no streaks and no paint removal.
i do wonder if some bad outcomes are more down to poor preparation or bad technique rather than the product

Horrible smell

published

The paint looks fine, but the smell is unbearable. We've repainted our ensuite and the smell is taking over our bedroom too. I have no idea why this product is for sale. Stay away from it.
I don't know how to fix it. Does anyone know what I should paint over to mask?

Love my final finish.

published

I was super pleased with my final finish on my walls after using Wash & Wear Low Sheen. I love to read and found the Datasheet for the Wash & Wear which was super helpful. I suggest having a read before painting as many things can influencer your paint work. Thanks Dulux. One happy customer here.

I buy nothing but Dulux

published

I have been using Dulux paints for about 45 years. Painting is just about the worst chore that a DIY can do, so the less often you have to do it the better. You cannot save money on paint - you get what you pay for. I have never had Dulux paint peel. A tip I learnt is never use ceiling white, use flat white instead, a bit dearer but smoother and easy to clean. I have only had one disaster where wall paint went on white and gradually go brown patches but it may be that I used part of a used tin that may have had rust in it. Sorry to read of so many dissatisfied users. My wife at times has bought other brands but I refuse to use them. I only rated it 4/5 for Value because it is expensive but it is good,

The worse paint I have ever used on ceilings.

published

I'm not usually the one to complain about a product however this paint has caused me serious frustration as I have wasted a week of my time and money - My feedback is on par with others - after applying 2 coats to the ceiling it appeared very streaky and patchy - I have had some experience painting ceilings before and have never experienced this finish result - very disappointed as I expected a lot more from a premium Dulux paint - in saying this I have had no issues with Dulux wall paint.

Very Disappointing Product

published

Purchased this paint at Bunnings to paint the walls of four rooms of our house. All walls were in good condition. After three coats of this paint they are streaky and patchy. I will have to purchase another brand of paint to try and rectify the dreadful finish I am left with. Disappointing job and a waste of time and money. I have previously painted many houses before with no problems.

This paint is dreadful. Roller marks everywhere. Looks like the ceiling has been painted by a child. The paint is expensive, and useless. I have bought another brand to hopefully fix the problem. What a waste of time and money.

Really bad experience

published

Used white paint on walls already painted with a very light shade Dulux. I am a very experienced painter, stirred the paint well and used recommended equipment. Now after having painted the walls 6 times it still doesn’t cover. Called dulux, they asked me all the good questions: did you stir, did you paint on top of a dark color, on top of an oil based paint, what equipment did you use... but they offered no solution whatsoever. Went and bought a smaller sample which worked quite well. Now I am stuck with a huge bucket of useless paint and Dulux doesn’t care at all. Must have been a bad batch, but why is that my problem... super disappointed.

Wash & Wear Low Sheen

Hi we are using dulux wash n wear low sheen on plasterboard walls. We used dulux acrylic water based sealer as undercover. The walls feel gritty. Is this how it's supposed to feel? We were expexting a smoother finish given that it's a wash n wear product. Should we have used a satin product? Thanks, Helen

Hi Ozone, thank you for reaching out! We're sorry to read that your experience with Dulux Acrylic Sealer Undercoat and Dulux Wash&Wear Low Sheen hasn't been so positive . Both these products do not behave this way and it's unusual for these products to feel gritty. We recommend a brand new good synthetic roller 10-12mm nap for your application. Please lightly sand the walls with a wet and dry sandpaper P400 and re-apply 1 coat of Dulux Wash& Wear Low Sheen. Hope this helps! Please feel free to contact us on 132525 option 2 for further advice. Wash & Wear

Can you use Dulux Wash & Wear using a spray gun for interior vj walls?

DuluxDulux

Hi SeaHaze

Thank you for your enquiry! Dulux Wash&Wear can be applied by a spray gun and suitable for all standard spray equipment, to aid atomisation, you can thin up to 100ml per litre of water for conventional spray and for airless spray 30ml per litre of water can be added. Hope this helps you with your project!
