Good suction on carpet but not ergonomically designed
I can only compare it to my old vacuum the Electrolux Ultra Silencer. The Dyson is better for suction and the power turbine head is great for picking up hair on rugs and carpet but the Dyson is not as good in all other areas. I find the handle very uncomfortable. It is wide and the joins (not in one piece) seem to irritate my hand. The cord is shorter thus I have to change power points. It is not as manoeuvrable as the Electrolux. I think it is scratching my wooden floors thus I need to buy a hard floor attachment. As if it wasn't expensive enough ! It should come as a standard attachment.
Suction, power turbine head
Handle uncomfortable, manoeuvrability not so good, need to buy hard floor attachment

Love it ....
What can i say about this Vaccum cleaner that hasent been said before. Its really good, its got good suction and is easy to take it around the house. I espacially love the tiggerhead coz it makes it easier to vaccum. I couldnt believe the amount of hair that got trapped in the triggerhead and after the first session i had to take all the hair out, which was a breeze (unlike my older vaccum).
I still think the price is a bit steep but its well worth it. I bought this vaccum coz i have young children (below 2) and they pickup stuff from the ca...Read more

It cleans really well - but needs a more user-friendly dust barrel ...
Have recently bought this vacuum - partner has asthma, we have a carpeted apartment, and also a cat. Store guy said this would do similar job to Animal version, and cover asthma issue too. Well, it's certainly got excellent suction - but the barrel's far too small for one vacuum of the apartment. After each one the barrel's full to the brim - far beyond the 'max' level on there. And cleaning it out each time is fiddly and has become very annoying - surely Dyson could have designed a far more user-friendly clean out system for the dust, and fran...Read more
kly - a bigger barrel! I'm happy with the suction but really disappointed that cleaning out the vacuum barrel after each use takes just as long as the vacuuming itself. Anyone else with this problem? Great suction Dust barrel container is far too small for normal vacuuming and requires fiddly clean out after each use.2 comments
yes!! Margie31 I totally agree with you. I used to have the DC08 Turbine and the barrel was much bigger and easy to clean out. With this new model I'm quiet disappointed in the size of the barrel and ... Read more

Sorry to hear you find the bin hard to empty. If you have debris stuck around the shroud, it may make it easier to remove the bin to remove the debris. To do this, open the bin like normal, then you'll be able to see a small silver catch between two red rods - press this and you'll be able to seperate the clear bin from the cyclone. I hope this helps, but if we can be of further asisstance please give us a call on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy. Dissapointed
Just bought this vacuum, but am disappointed with the cleaning ability – the floor doesn’t seem clean afterwards. I suspect that the “turbo head” uses up too much of the suction power to suck up dirt effectively. However, the main problem I have is that while it’s supposed to have a HEPA filter, it generates noticeable airborne dust while in use, and there’s no way I’d want an allergy sufferer anywhere near that.
For the price, I expected much better.
Better than the $50 vacuum it replaced. Looks nice.
Price; doesn’t clean very well; creates airborne dust

my son has bad allergy ( allergic to dust mites, nuts, amongst others ) and due to the severity of the allergy, we now have a new leather lounge, new kitchen plastic chairs, hard timber floor boards, specially made material for his bed sheets/pillow cases etc, special cream, bath additive etc.
all combine it does works else I'll have to wrap him up in a plastic bubble ball
although nothing wrong with the current Electrolux bagless vacuum cleaner ( hose leak fixed with duct tape ), wife insist we should get an allergy friendly vacuum cleaner, ...Read more

e filter right down to the mesh, clean and put back together ( only when it needs to, else just simple push the red button to empty the content ). amazing what wife can achieve when they have too, i did show her the first time. the handle and straight hose is slightly loose but that is due to wear, no fault of the unit given the wife is harsh on the equipment. i bought a spare floor head during initial purchase thinking it'll be lucky to survive a yr but haven't got to replace it as the original is still ok. therefore i like to say good job Dyson. one of the very few company these days that puts innovative design, proper reseach/development and quality ahead of cost ( which i'm happy to pay ). will happily get another one.Similar opinion? Best vacuum ever!
No, really, the best! My 3 year old has just been diagnosed asthmatic & we have been pretty proactive (tearing up carpeting & polishing up the gorgeous hardwood floorboards, new pillows, steam cleaning mattresses & soft furnishings, etc) but as we live in a dusty area I was finding that my old vacuum just wasn't cutting it anymore (& with floorboards you can see every speck of dust!)...
So I bought a Dyson. I've been reading user reviews for a while & the overwhelming consensus has been positive so I bit the bullet & bought a $693 vacuum cle...Read more
aner...anyway, best investment in ages! The suction is unbelievable & as I bought the motor head accessory I can also do a pretty good deep clean of the sofas, mattresses, etc which means I only really have to have them steamed once or twice a year. OK, so I've re-read my review & I promise I'm not some crazy OCD clean freak! I'm just your average house-wifey with an asthmatic kid!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best on the market
The Dyson DC39 Allergy is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever used. It picks up every bit or dirt and specks of dust, I was shocked by how much dirt is collected. Also helps greatly with prevention of my daughter's hay fever so would highly recommend for anyone who has a family member with asthma or hay fever.
Fantastic results
Expensive but well worth it

Please be assured, a higher wattage does not mean the machine has more suction, it simply means the machine uses more energy. While the DC39 uses 100w less than the DC23, it actually has more suction power.... Read more

Latest model - big disappointment!
I heard about this model being lighter on its feet and so on and that's true but performance has dropped in line with the wattage which has dropped 100watts!! If you have the previous model and want CLEAN - stick to the old model!!! If you want average clean and a lighter machine then this is the one for you. I'm very disappointed as I bought my first Dyson for the cleaning power....
Light and very manoeuvrable
Very average cleaning power

Its either a Dyson or it isnt!
Absolutely worth the money, if you dont have to empty the bag at least twice in the first room you do ill be surprised. This model comes with the turbo head which for carpet you must have, it also features the mattress tool which is similar to the stair tool only smaller. The ball technoloy is cetainly interesting and seems to do what it advertises, in short i love the dyson and will never change back to another brand.
Does everything it advertises

fantastic
I've only just bought this product yesterday but I absolutely love it! The amount that came off our rug was incredible, and also amount that came off our floor boards! we have 3 cats and there was always hair covering everything that other vacuum cleaners just couldn't suck up.It's a bit heavy to use, but only because of the suction power..so I don't mind. I recommend this product and am very happy with my purchase :)
great suction power, easy to empty
bit heavy to use but only because suction is so strong

My turbo head has stopped spinning and therefore impacts upon suction. I have just had the handle replaced (second time :-() and it only stopped once I began using the new handle. Any ideas?
3 answers
I can't really say what the issue would be without looking at it. Is it the same model handle you previously had and does the button you push to stop the head spinning return when you push it again. The head works on air vacuum. Does the vacuum work with the turbo head removed, if so it may be the turbo head itself. I have found that playing with / resetting the push button a couple of times on the handle can get it to work when it stops spinning.
Yes....tried all of that! Thanks though

Thank you for your question. It is very hard to say why exactly this would be happening with the new handle. We would recommend to email us your details at [email protected] so we can best assist you.

I am thinking about getting the Allergy machine. However I see people saying that the muscle head is better than the trigger head for hard floors - mine are mainly polished wood. Can you please tell me if the Allergy machine has a muscle head?
1 answer
When I bought my Allergy machine it came with the turbo head, so you are better off going down a level to get the muscle head. I may be wrong but the only difference I saw was that the Allergy machine came with a mattress cleaning attachment (a bit bigger than the upholstery attachment which was also provided). If you really want the mattress attachment, you can buy it separately. I hope that helps Danni. I find the muscle head much easier to push around than using the turbo head. Better on the wooden floors too. Regards, Shamira

What the different between the oldest model DC29 ALLERGY and DC39 ALLERGY?
Regards,
Dina

Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi there,
There are a few differences between these machines. The DC29 range uses Radix Cyclone technology for no loss of suction. The DC39 uses our new Radial Cyclone technology to seperate more dust and dirt from the air while maintaining suction power.
The DC39 range also uses our Ball technology, making them easier to handle and more stable.
