Thank you for your queries.

You can find a video showing how to remove and replace the battery of your machine here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju0F4HMtysQ

You can find the serial number for your machine on the guarantee form which is on the back page of your User Guide. However, you can also find it on the machine. To locate, push the red release catch and the base of the bin releases. Push it again and with a wiggle you can pull the complete clear bin off the machine. You will find the serial number sticker on the opposite side of the red lever on the machine.

While Dyson engineer our machines and their components to last, the batter is a consumable item which suffer wear and tear through usage coupled with environmental factors such as extreme temperatures, charging habits and the usage of the minimum / maximum power selection. These factors affect the battery longevity which varies amongst users and determining the length of time a power pack should last is not feasible.

My DysoncordlessV6 machine was purchased in February 2016. Until now I have regularly washed the blue filter, and dust container and brushed what I could. I did not realize I could separate the other filter until watching the cleaning instructions on the You tube video. Now I am trying to do a thorough clean of the machine but have found it impossible to release the filter by levering it with a screwdriver as demonstrated. It simply will not budge! I have tried over and again and am afraid I will wreck my machine. There must be a better solution!

Apologies for any confusion, however Dyson don't recommend doing any maintenance to the filter with a screw driver.

Official Dyson recommendations on how to wash the filter and clean the bin can be found via the videos below. Once the bin is removed, the mesh shroud can also be wiped over with a soft dry cloth if there is any debris present on the outside.

We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the motorhead of your cordless machine. Often this can be caused by a blockage or a restriction in the electrical pathways that power the motorised head. We recommend to follow these checkpoints to help get this resolved:

1. Clean the brushbar as shown in this video here: https://youtu.be/fdnu4yk-5vI?t=25s

2. Separate the clear bin from the main body of the machine as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWG-AgswpQo Once the clear bin is separated, clean the metal contacts behind the clear bin and on the main body with a dry cloth. Assemble the machine and test if the motorhead will spin.

3. If the motorhead still does not spin after following steps 1 and 2, please remove the long wand and test if the motorhead will work when connected straight on the nozzle of the clear bin.

If the motorhead still does not work after following above steps please forward your details to [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will only be happy to assist further.

Jan, if the battery in the previous one lasted 6 years, I think you did quite well - batteries have a limited lifespan, and I believe replacements are available.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Jan,

Thank you for your query.

The Dyson V6 Cord-free has smart electronics within the machine, battery and charger to ensure the machine won't overcharge. It is recommended you leave the machine on charge when not in use, this will ensure it is always ready for your next cleaning session. The electronics in the machine will ensure the battery charges to 100%, but not over.

I hope this helps, however if we can assist further please don't hesitate to email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be happy to help.

Hello,

We got our Dyson Cyclone V10 this Christmas and have loved it so far. However, the filter light flashed on and I followed the directions to properly clean it out with the water and let it air dry. I’ve emptied out the dirt and cleaned it completely. Now it will pulsate and vaccuum for about 5 seconds, turn off, and flash the filter light again. I cleaned he filter once more and let it air dry and made sure it was on correctly. Same thing happened, it pulsed for 5 seconds and then turned off and flashed the filter light. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Dyson V6. I put it on the charger and the blue light goes on. When I come back for it, the light is off (no lights on). When I take it off the charger and press the trigger, it doesn’t work and I get a red flashing light; it flashes 10x then stops.

If I put it back on the charger for a few seconds, the blue light reappears and then when I take it off the charger it works! The charge does not seem to last very long, though. About half as long as usual.

What’s going on?

Hi Tbiscuit, it sounds like the same problem that I had. Yes, I think the battery doesn't last as long when this stopping occurs. Have you timed how long it lasts (once you get it going properly)? If it is less than 6 minutes (including the time before it stops) then, yes, the charge has shortened. If not, it is still lasting as long as claimed by Dyson but it is inconvenient. How long have you had the handstick? Dyson's approach seems to be to replace the battery when problems like this occur. It seems to be after a 2 or 3 years but sometimes earlier. If it is still in warranty (2 years under Australian consumer law), they should replace it for free. Even if it is outside the warranty, they will still consider your situation. I find if you are polite, open-minded and don't appear to expect freebies, they might help you out. Otherwise you may have to pay the $85. Good luck with it.

V6 Cord-free

I have purchased as a Christmas gift, a cordless Dyson V7 for my elderly parents who live in three room flat. We charged it for 24 hrs and my mum used it for the first tome on boxing day. She rang to say the machine kept cutting out after one room. She had emptied it and couldn't see any blockages. My husband watched the Dyson video and followed all the instructions. He managed to get it working again even though he could not see any more bstuctions anywhere so stared to hoover her living room. After 20 seconds it is cutting out again. He can't see any blockages. Surely the filter can't need cleaning as it's only been used for a few minutes. I'm really disappointed as thought this would be so easy for my parents to use. Any ideas why a brand new D7 is not working as it should?

Hi Tania,

Thank you for your query, we are happy to assist.

Storing the machine in temperatures below 3°c or above 30°c can cause problems with the battery. If you are looking to install the machine in an area that would be outside of these temperatures, we would suggest considering alternate positions to store and charge the machine.

I hope this helps, however if we can assist further, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch to assist.

Hi Frank,

Thank you for your query.

Sorry to hear about this, however we are happy to help.

If your machine works well without the motorised floor tool, this would indicate a blockage in the floor tool. You can find a short video showing you how to clear this tool here: https://youtu.be/fdnu4yk-5vI?t=25

I hope this helps get your machine up and running, however if we can assist further, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be happy to assist further.

What I discovered is that the vacuum had sucked up a plastic bottle top and it was stuck at the point where air enters into the actual body of the vacuum. That was restricting air flow and causing the intermittent on and off I experienced.
