good fridge
In recent years we have had a new Samsung fridge, a used LG fridge, and now have the Fisher & Paykel E402B. It is by far the better brand, and despite being a bit noisier than the previous ones, it does all that I would want from a fridge.I would recommend it to anyone considering buying a new fridge.
reliable, energy efficient, ample size
noisy

Love it!
I had this fridge delivered 3 days ago and I absolutely love it! It is the quietest fridge that I have ever had! I also love the freezer compartments, very handy, especially the pull out trays and ice storage tray. The LED lighting for temperature controls is a good idea and I would highly recommend this fridge.
Very quiet, great storage compartments.
Nothing so far!

Very noisy!
I replaced my old Fisher and Paykel with a new model. The new one drives me crazy as I can hear it in the next room, The serviceman told me the new energy efficient motors are nosier and to pack foam around the fridge to dull the noise. I will never buy this brand again !
Good interior layout and lighting
The noise drives me crazy. No good for open plan living

Most people only run their dishwasher once a day, and unlikely while they are trying to sleep. This is the noisiest fridge I've ever owned.

Wonderful fridge!
Replaced an old Kelvinator. Love my new upside down fridge. Quiet, attractive and easy to clean.
Left hand opening makes it all the more attractive. Fits in perfectly. At the moment can't find any cons .
Good amount of space for 2-4 people and freezer set up very neat too.

Love my first fridge ever
My old house had a F&P fridge, same but much bigger. It's 6 now and we did need a mechanic once when it stopped working but it keeps powering on.
This one is is a smaller model. Such a lovely fridge but rattled like hell when turned on and the compressor kicked in. I had read here when i was shopping and was aware it may have noise issues but most people were able to fix it. Touched a few things down the bottom (ie. moved a simple wire) and voila! No rattle. So have a fiddle and she purrs like a kitten. If she doesn't, sounds like F&P will come to your rescue anyway.
It's beautiful
A freezer light would have been handy but no matter

Very noisy fridge, with obvious quality control issues
Bitterly disappointed in this fridge. The first, purchased mid March, had a very noisy clunk/bang when compressor shutdown. F&P fixed by replacing rubber mounts on compressor bracket. Problem back in a week, so they sent a new fridge. Same problem, so I got a refund. Suspect by reaction that it's a known problem. It also has a consistently noisy compressor, coupled with the quality control issue of the compressor bracket. Very disappointing. Bewarned before purchasing. Kudos, however, to F&P customer service team - they did not hesitate to help, replace, refund and were generally very understanding.
Good internal layout
Noisy compressor and clunk/bang on shutdown of compressor

Was very noisy - but easy to fix
Just bought one of these fridges and couldn't believe the noise level - a loud rattle every time the compressor kicked in. Then found these reviews and thought I'd made a terrible mistake. Went back to the retailer and they were willing to give me a new fridge but someone came up with the theory that the plastic shelf above the compressor can come loose, causing a rattle. I went home and hauled out the fridge and sure enough one of the screws holding the tray had fallen out. Now I have secured the tray there is no unusual noise at all. It is a really quiet fridge!
Modern, spacious, quiet and just all-round nicer than my old fridge.

I had the same problem. It sounded like something was rattling. Simply increased the level at the front using the screw feet thingys and it stopped. Boo ya

Broken fan after 3 months
I really like this fridge but 3 months after purchase it started beeping every couple of minutes. It got very annoying very quickly. After doing some research F & P are renowned for this issue. The service people were great but such an inconvenience to have to repair a new fridge. It took 4 days of beeping before repair. Hoping the same thing doesn't happen again!
Space, freezer at bottom.
Regular fault with F&P fridges - beeping

I have had the same problem. Three times I have had to have someone out to fix the beeping. Not happy Jan!!! Gets expensive to fix. I would never recommend this fridge to anyone

Lots of noise
Like other reviewers, we found this fridge to be a lot more noisy than the other fridges we have owned. It has a cheap compressor that rattles like crazy when it starts up, and it gradually becomes quieter. Considering that this is marketed as a "quiet" unit, and cost me $1000 delivered, it's unforgiveable. What's the old saying? ... "advertise your weak points". Oh dear. Last F&P I'll buy!

Noisy!!!
We bought this fridge a month ago after reading fridge review on CHOICE. It was supposed to be one of the quietest fridges... Our fridge is quite noisy. We have an open plan kitchen/living and the compressor could be heard throughout the living area and even in the bedroom. F&P sent technicians twice and both times we were told that this level of noise is normal for F&P fridges. We are very disappointed. I would stay away from this model if you are after a quiet fridge!
Apart from that fridge is working well and we are quite happy with the internal organization.
Overall design. The interiors look nice and study.
Very noisy compressor.

I bought E402BRE3 and couldn't hated more because of the noise level. It's like a piece of expensive xxx to me. Won't ever buy this brand.
Finding it adequately quiet at our house. We also have an open plan scenario and our last fridge was horrendously noisy, particularly intrusive when we were watching TV. Don't even notice when this one's running, it's bliss.
I called customer service and they admitted it was too loud through the phone. A technician came over and fixed the problem (from extremely noisy to not-so-noisy, still worse than my previous Fridges)... Read more
. The guy said the problem was something in the compressor touching the surroundings. However the fix only worked for less than 1 day. The noise level is back to the level before.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great little Fridge
Perfect for a couple or small family. Lots of shelf space considering it looks like such a compact fridge. Plastic handle does ruin the sleek finish but is very easy to clean, no putting fingers under the handle and leaving grime behind that you cant clean. The freezer is excellent, quite a bit of room, need to shift some things around if you have alot of boxes though. Small draw is a good idea in the freezer compartment. It is quiet but occasionally makes compressor noises however it doesnt last long. Day to day you cant hear it running. The o...Read more
nly downfall which is basically only to people who get a little irritated by things such as this is that when it is open for longer than a set period of time it beeps, a few seconds later it beeps again, and then again. If you dont close it it has one long beep which can be quite annoying when trying to put food away after shopping. It is a great idea to have that beeping, however it doesnt allow much time to really ponder your choices before it alerts you to the fact the door has been open too long. Overall it is a great fridge, the only bad point I can find, as I said, is the beeping. Other than that it is ideal. Affordable, looks great, works great. Highly recommended. Sleek finish, Easy to clean, Compact without being small. Does tend to beep quite a bit when left open.1 comment

Pretty good, slightly noisy when the motor kicks in.
We've had it for about 4 months and it has been great so far. My only complaint is that it's a little noisy when the motor kicks in. The glass shelves and bottle rack are very convenient, as are the drawers in the freezer. It looks modern and keeps our food fresh. Only time will tell - if it's still going strong in 10 years, I'll be happy.
Good looks, bottle rack, freezer drawers.
Slightly noisy.

Good
I rented a holiday house with this fridge in it and liked it, so when it came time to replace my old one, I got this. Happy with it so far. The shelves are very adjustable, so it's easy to arrive at a configuration that suits your requirements, and this goes for the door-shelves as well. Wine racks are handy, so is the storage for lots of eggs. The door alarms are very useful, as everyone in the house tends to forget to shut it. Fruit and vegetables keep well, frozen stuff also. Both compartments are temperature-adjustable. Occasionally there i...Read more

We love this fridge. Its a great size, looks good, can set temperatures for fridge and freezer separately and easily. Fruit and veg last longer. No frost in the freezer. Love the bins in the freezer, they make everything easy to pack in and its also easy to find things again later. Definately recommend this fridge.
Can set temperature for fridge and freezer, no frost, looks good, fruit and veg stays crisp longer.

My mum bought me this fridge for my 30th birthday and I love it. The vegetable cripser doesn't fall out when you pull it out and isn't on a stupid angle like those in most fridges. Ice drawer in the freezer is in between two larger shevles and can only be pulled out with the larger shelf beneth it. which is annoying. All these issues are only minor and I consider it good value for money, (I paid just under $1,100) and I thouroughly recommend this fridge as an affortable upside down fridge.

Value for money
Purchased this upside-down fridge a year and a half ago (with a 1 year warranty). Unlike other fridge/freezer combos that I have purchased in the past, this one doesn't have different temperature levels on different shelves. With my previous fridge I was always having to move food around because it would freeze on the top shelf but wasn't cold enough on the bottom shelf to keep the vegetables fresh and crisp, but this fridge is different - it works! The only downside would be the constant loud beeping when the fridge door is left open for more...Read more

g, some of the cold "fluid" will not be lost, making for more efficient refrigeration of your food. The alarm in our fridge has gone off, but only when somebody failed to close the door. I like the alarm.... a lot.... :-)Exactly. It's beeping to tell you you should grow a brain. Next time it beeps, that's exactly what it's saying.

Good looking upside-down fridge
I highly recommend these upside-down fridges, its good to look at all your food at eye level instead of crouching down, with the freezer down the bottom, out of the way. This makes it more expensive, bit its worth it.
Its quiet, but not silent, it goes through stages of compressor running to running water sounds, but the sound is not annoying, its a very light mid-frequency sound. If you leave the door closed it is silent most of the time.
I'm single and i can sometimes fill the fridge up, but is big enough for me, a large family will strugg...Read more

Good
I really love the upsdie fridge. Really allows me to make the best use of the fridge space.
I've had this fridge for 3 years now and no problems so far.
I've learned not to place items right at the back on the top shelf so they dont freeze up.
Freezer draws are on rollers which makes them easier to get open and close.
Got mine cheap from 2nds World - small ding on the side knocked a few hundred off the normal price.
Good size. Upside down fridge. Alarm to warn if door is open - saved me a couple of times when the door was just slightly ajar. Seperate temp controls for fridge and freezer.
Sometimes items at the back on the top shelf can get frozen

Our fridge is 5 years old and we have had no problems with it. It is good quality and nothing has broken. I chose this fridge on its looks alone (love the metal handles) and wasn't disappointed with what was inside either.
Best looking fridge I thought without the flimsy plastic handles most fridges seem to have. The inside of the fridge is simple which means you fit lots in. Glass shelves mean they won't crack like the plastic ones. Easy to clean. Love the frost free freezer on the bottom as you access it less than the fridge. Great for my hub...Read more
