We have a mondeo titanium tdi, once it has wzrmed up and you have to stop for awhile, the transmission will clunk going into drive severely, it appears that the dual clutch from my understanding wont stop spinning to engage the drive, have been told itz the solenoids wont cut the oil supply and it keeps spinning till it drops in with a bang. Is there a fix for it, has someone come up with a solution to this problem ford don't want to know about.?
4 answers
Ford does don’t make the transmission. The company that made the transmission went bankrupt and to replace the ecu you are looking at $3k and $9-12k for the transmission. Ford do not troubleshoot transmission issues, they send it off site to a specialist. The transmission is not serviceable apart from oil. Most of the techs at Ford don’t have the faintest clue about the transmission.
It doesn't seem like the solenoid from the way you described I would recommend to take the car to a transmission specialist workshop.
If does end up being the solenoid - you're better off going to a reasonable auto electrician workshop than the ford australia service centre
Replace the tcm imfront of your gearbox.. new tech need to include input sensor. Problem gone

I bought an ex-fleet 2011 diesel wagon. I get 1000km per tank of diesel. It has plenty of guts. Goes like the clappers on the freeway. No issues apart from brakes will need serving more often than most cars due to soft rotors/discs for better braking. I go through a lot of headlight globes, but I think that's just my car. It's special...
Check the dust covers are still attached to the back of each headlight housing. I found out later I was missing one. You do get turbo lag sometimes where you put your foot down and the car hesitates. You get used to it. Bonnet release is in the passenger side. That's a nuisance.
Otherwise I can't think of anything negative to look for that's happened to me. I'd definitely buy another one while the diesel prices are good. Just get a mechanic to check it over for the usual wear n tear. Any ideas?

I took my 2015 Mondeo titanium wagon to the drive in but the radio would not stay on for the movie I had to keep re starting the car any ideas ???
1 answer
Hi Matto unfortunately the radio is automatically set to turn off after one hour if the ignition is off and you are still in the vehicle. Per the manual it says: "ON/OFF CONTROL Press the on/off control. This will also operate the unit for up to one hour with the ignition turned off. The radio will switch off automatically after one hour." Unfortunately modern cars are not designed for drive in theaters. It seems even if you leave the motor running or get out of your car and leave the motor running while having a chin wag with someone it is going to turn off after a 'prescribed time' doesn't say how long but possibly an hour- again from the manual - Note: The ignition may automatically switch off after a period of time if your vehicle has been left unattended with the ignition on. This is to prevent the vehicle battery from discharging. So it seems there is no way around it but to turn off the ignition and turn it back on to continue using the radio for another hour. Good luck I hope that helps.

How much should I expect to pay for a 60000kilometre service - Mondeo purchased October 2014?
( Zeneca model)
2 answers
Hi Joan,
we haven't had the car long enough yet (owned car for 3 months) but the dealer we bought the car through offered us a set service fee of $165 which does not include oils and parts. Best thing to do is ring a Ford dealer and ask them what they charge for a 60,000 km service.
Best, R. D.
Thanks for your answer - actually a Zetec model. I shall call Ford tomorrow.

Transmission Isues losses power can't get any gears while driving
Mondeo titanium 2012 model turbo diesel. Any ideas?

This is happening to me ATM. I'm driving along and it looses gear and revs. The low transmission function message has come up twice. I just had the 120000km full service with ford. They changed the transmission oil and this has it started since then. I've got it booked in for Wednesday as it started a few weeks ago and is becoming more frequently. It's started jolting/shuddering when going through low gears even when warm. Have you had any answers as to why this is happening? I drive a Ford Mondeo zetec wagon 2012 Turbo Diesel.
No nothing I am scared to drive the car further than few km if I known I am not in the walking distance from home I use my husbands car .
I have sent a email to ford customer service before Easter asking for advice they didn't even bother to replay
No one knows what to do and how to fix it
Funny how my problems started after the service and transmission oil change same as you Michelle b
I have no idea where to go from here
Kobi b
Michelle how did you go with your car today did your transmission get fixed
I have received the replay from ford customer service today asking for more information to be emailed to them so they can see what can be done to sort out my problem with my car
I am hoping I hear back soon and see what they can suggest to get my car back on the road, I am hoping you had a better luck with your mechanics as my said there is no point having car towed to them constantly as they can't fix it ( don't know how to ) just hoping ford can come up with answers
As soon as they get back to me with any suggestions I will let you know
Good luck to both of us for now

hey everyone! i have a question to ask that i need help with! today i wen't to a car yard and stumbled across a 2009 Ford Mondeo Zetec and instantly fell inlove! now...mind you this was a used/second-hand car dealership place and they have allowed me this weekend to get a real feel of the car i've noticed in this particular car i can slightly hear the gears change and it feels/sounds like the engine revs quite high (especially when i take off from a red light... now i'm not use to driving in nice fancy cars so i'm new to this and not sure what it should or shouldn't sound
Also this particular car has a slight whistle like sound coming from the back of the car but i'm hoping thats normal considering the car is part electronic (i think that's the word) so i just wan't to know if it's a normal sound or if this even makes sense?
Yours truly, a young woman who doesn't know much about cars!

Hi Grace,
Even though you don't know much about cars I would trust your intuition! All those points sound concerning, I would probably err on the side of caution. Especially from a dealer. My advice would be to keep looking and hopefully find an even newer model, as the 2009 is pushing 10 years old. But you are on the right track with the mondeo! Don't give up as they really are great cars!
Hard to know without being there.. my advice is get a knowledgeable friend to try it. Don't trust car dealers - they're all liars.. and lying-by-omission is their favorite trick.
Another option is take a mechanical genius with you when you go to test drive a car

does my ford Mondeo 2.0 tdci zetec 2013 plate have a timing belt? If so, when does it need changing?
2 answers
From memory it has a timing chain. So does not need replacing. But mine is the petrol model.
I have a diesel, it has a chain. Timing belts suck. It's a cheap aarse move by car manufactures to save money. I had one break in a Toyota Corona. Didnt know my car had a belt until then. Cost me a small fortune in tow truck costs. Lucky for me no damage to the engine valves etc.

Does a 2012 Ford Mondeo LX MC Auto have a timing belt or chain?
Thanks

Ford have confused us all by having so many different engines. Hard to get a straight answer, even if you ring a Ford Dealer. Duratec, Zetec, Eco Boost.
I think safest way to get an answer to your Question Jake, is to identify the engine and not the frame of the vehicle. If yours has an Eco Boost 2.0 Liter Petrol engine it should be chain driven.
From what i understand, my 2011 MC Diesel has a timing chain and has a belt that needs to be replaced at 240k kms? but don't quote me.
I presume you are taking about different parts of the engine. fan belt, timing chain. Or serpent belt as they call fan belt these days as it drives so many pulleys.

the air condition stopped working on a very hot day in melbourne, but the next day it was back to normal. What to do in this situation?
3 answers
You have the option of taking the car to a ford Australia workshop or a auto electrician
This answer would be accepted from a three year old. The problem is a serious one and very disconcerting. we know of a few people in Sydney with this exact problem occurring in the beginning of 2017 summer. We were happy with our mondeo titanium md petrol till a hot day in November 2017, when the a/c refused to do any thing after having been parked at an indoor parking station. next day it was ticky-t-boo We took it to the dealer who said 'I can't fault the car, it is not a known problem, no one else has complained'. Our 2016 model car is an ideal car in every other way. DISCONCERTING.
We have a 2017 MD titanium, and ever since we bought it the AC always seemed to struggle, particularly in the hot. One day about 4 months ago I put my foot down to overtake someone and I heard a loud "pop" turns out the AC compressor had chosen that moment to seize up. Been replaced and runs better than it did when we purchased it.

Has any one else had Aircon issues? I have a 2011 Ford Mondeo Zetec. I'm very happy overall, but the Aircon has been terrible from the get go. I took it back to Ford twice. I took it back and they said it was fixed again, no luck...it stopped working all together. I put up with no Aircon over winter. I called a different Ford dealership then the one I was seeing and asked them if they could fix it or see an A/C specialist, they advised with the cost involved I should talk to someone else. This was about 3 months ago I had a Aircon specialist in Adelaide look at it and he said it had blown a fuse and that's why it stopped working. He said the gas was all good, but it could be earthing out or maybe the compressor was shot. I changed the fuse once more when it stopped working and now it's stopped again, but this time the fuse hasn't blown. Any help would be appreciated. it's now the peak of summer and very frustrating. Regards Brett

You can also try Kmart tyres and auto or even ultratune
Hi Brian, no one wants to work on them...
Apparently after $880 later the Aircon is fixed (for the time being). It was a coil problem now replaced and working fine. Still not to the standard of a newish car operating in the Australian climate... built in Belgium

Hi my 08 2.3 Mondeo turns over but won't start . The car was driven home for lunch, turned off, went to start, got spark, sounds like it wants to fire but won't, thinking fuel pump, any ideas, thanks Dave
3 answers
Same happened thing with my 08 2.3 MA yesterday. Fuel pump replaced at 110000 kms.
You have the option of taking your car to a Ford Australia workshop or a mechanical genius - some more options are Kmart tyres and auto though usually ultratune are experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults of a car
It's a fuse and it sounds like a lot of models of fords have this fault. It seems to be connected with an air con issue in many case such as mine and have paid $130 at auto electrician to be told it has no problem lol and by the sounds of it ford will also tell consumers the same. Maybe all concerned should lodge a class action law suit against ford and stand up to these companies who refuse to be held accountable for faulty products! If you feel the same contact [email removed]

i have recently bought ford mondeo mc lx 2014 and I tried to play music via bluetooth from my samsung galaxy s6 but unfortunately it connects with car bluetooth but the music in my playlist doesn't play in car ....could anyone suggest me what's goin on ?
2 answers
Bluetooth is only for phone not music
If you can use your phone via blutooth you can play music. I have the same phone and ford mondeo. I press play on my phone, switch to radio, then select aux, then blutooth audio. For some reason it doesnt automatically pick up. Hope it helps

Hi, Does anyone know about transmissions in mondeos? I have a 2nd hand old fleet car, 2011 LX tdci. It has now done nearly 120,000kms but the last 8 months or so it feels like the gears are slipping. When I slow down sometimes it will clunk into 2nd from 3rd gear or 1st from 2nd. Its like it hasn't registered that it needed to change and realized 10 seconds after. The whole car shudders in to gear with a massive jolt and clang. My partner refuses to go get it looked at because he recons I over exaggerate and he hasn't experienced it himself (he drives the car once a week if that). Any help would be great, if you have had same problems with the transmission please contact me?
cheers (:

Happens to my 2013 LX TDCI (180,000k's) as well, take it to Ford, the transmission will need to be reflashed. This should help
This sounds similar to the problem I had that resulted in the replacement of the turbine speed sensor. Has been a perfect car with no other issues since the sensor was replaced.
Yes I have the Isues with Ford mondeo diesel titanium gears started slipping and adventuarly couldn't drive the car more than couple of km from home drops out all together revs like mad but no gears
It has been at different ford dealers no one knows what is wrong with it
Not even ford Australia can help told me to find someone who knows how to get it fixed, they said never heard of the problem before but if you get on the product review hundreds of people have the same issue and currently there is class action going against ford for the problems with transmission of mondeo

How many total kms can we expect to get from the Mondeo MC Diesel motor before it dies?
3 answers
Mechanics will tell you they are only just run in at 100k. diesel engines are expensive to replace so I'd be aiming for under 150km to be safe if not under warranty. They will be good for 250k+ but turbos etc? Big question. They are solid motors with very low failure rates
To a certain degree this is a how long is a piece of string scenario. I know for a fact Ford consider the gearbox sealed for life, not serviceable and they consider life to be 150,000 kms. We have had engines destruct at 30,000 due to missing services. Others with over 130,000 kms with no problem, for me any thing over around 130 is going to be a (potential costly) gamble. Any thing diesel is a expansive repair, these aren't like the old school diesels which ran for 300,000 kms. These are just my opinions. Good luck.
I'm up to 255,000km. Still going strong. According to the service schedule for a 2011 model diesel I shouldnt be at this mileage until May 2020.
Brakes and head lights are the biggest issue. The discs use a soft metal for better braking so they wear faster. The headlights have me puzzled, each headlight has 3 globes and I'm forever replacing them. One blows out every 5 months, parker, low beam, high beam. Never had a car go through so many with no pattern to it. Tried different brands, no joy. I've gotten really good at ripping out the headlight housing to get at the globes.

Is the Mondeo wagon difficult to park in shopping centre car parks? I understand it has a big turning circle. Can you reverse out of car spaces in one go in a shopping centre car park or do you have to shift a few times?
4 answers
Just as easy as the hatch one would assume. They are a tad longer but the parking sensors are spot on. I find the turning circle ok and it's like most wider cars. You get used to them. I've never had to have multiple stabs at parking this car. :)
I have had no problems with parking the Mondeo. You can drive into a park in one go and reversing out of the park is just as easy. I have never had to do multiple attempts. Have never found parking an issue.
Never found it to be a problem

Cost of regular servicing with a 2010 Ford Mondeo LX MB auto done 92,200 km?
3 answers
Same as any car really. Oil filter $15au. I self service as mines not in warranty. I don't trust mechanics when it comes to servicing.
Depends on the Model Rose, if its a diesel, it is more expensive. However I would recommend using the dealers for the B services as it covers more than just an oil/filter change. My MC Mondeo costs about 300 for an A service, which included full synthetic oil, filter, cabin filter, sump plug, washer and labour.
Depends if it's petrol or diesel. Make sure you check if the gearbox has been serviced and oil changed if it hasnt don't even look at it. I wish i knew this when i got mine

The Mondeo dual clutch transmission, is this the same unit as used in the Focus which is causing massive problems?
Specifically the Mondeo diesel wgn 2012 - 2014.
3 answers
The diesels run a wet clutch system in the 6DCT450, none of the issues of the fiesta/focus which use dry clutches. Hope this helps.
Excellent, solved my problem. Toss up between the Mondeo & i40 diesel both 2014 models but preference was the Mondeo & now it will be the Mondeo.
Many thanks
Happy to help, wish you many years of trouble free motoring ☺

2.3L petrol vs Diesel - I'd like the extra torque of the diesel engine but have never owned a diesel. I know diesel is usually more fuel efficient, but costs more per litre at the pump. I've also heard that diesel costs more to service?
Has anyone made the petrol to diesel switch? Realistically the 2.3L petrol engine would be sufficient for our needs 99% of the year, as we rarely load the car up for long family road trips and don't tow trailers very often.
5 answers
I have a 2.3L petrol. It is perfectly adequate for our family needs. This includes loading it to the hilt for easter camping trips, withkid, dog, huge tent, chairs, table, cooker, lamps, sleeping bags, water, food, etc etc etc. maybe an extra 200-250kg of gear all up!
I have also owned a diesel vehicle (BMW). Diesels do not require such regular servicing as pertrol engines, helping to offset the cost. Personally I would like a diesel or later model Eco boost for a bit of extra torque.
Diesel is best suited for long drives. Vehicles with Euro V specs need good long runs periodically to clear the DPF. If the runs are short, stick to petrol.
Between the diesel and petrol MC Mondeo - there is very little difference in service costs, the savings in fuel though add up to a fair bit. My Mondeo has averaged just over 6L/100Km over the 95000 kms I have driven it in 3 years. Go for the diesel it is well worth it, once you go diesel, there's no going back. ;)
