Hey guys so is that true that the Ford Mondeo Titanium tdci series mb diesel gear boxes are that much?

Ford powershift is basically a manual system, smoothens out into a near-auto. It’s not the smoothest but I don’t think it’s clunky or anything since i only spend 30$ on petrol everyweek or less.
It also gives Ford a super boost when you press the pedal, which is safe for lane changing and overtaking.

I have a 2013 modeo wagon 2ltr diesel, I have a problem, the information light keeps coming on and reads engine malfunction, then the tracktion light comes on and it goes into limp mode. I've had it back to ford (kyabram) twice and they can't find the problem, my nephew is a mechanic who services my car and he can't find a problem either. Seems to be worse in cold weather. When the engine is wet the glow plug light flashes and intermittent starting, Any ideas?

That seems like most likely it's a electrics fault within your onboard computer ecu so i would recommend to take the time to a reasonable auto electrician workshop or perhaps a reasonable diesel engine specialist workshop may be able to help

Actually - another good option to have the vehicle tuned totally and replace all the plugs and what not including the battery

It's diesel, no plugs, battery is fine, pcm is fine, ecu, is fine, ford tech's have no idea, it's been at Qford Brisbane for 4 weeks, still can't find a problem

My Ford Mondeo 2014 powershift gearbox has failed in a major way. It is one year out of warranty what should I do pay my local repairer over six thousand for a second hand gearbox or Ford say they can rebuild it for eight thousand? For a car I have only owner for six months this is a huge expense and for a car that has done only 103000km this is very disappointing.

I also have had a major fail of my transmission. My car has always been serviced by Ford dealers. It has only 106,000 on the odometer and we were told the transmission module needed replacing which would cost $6000 dollars. When taking it in to have the module replaced they found metal shaving in the transmission oil. We were then told it would cost $16,500 to have the transmission fixed, new not a rebuild. I was astounded and sent an email to Ford after seeing if it was covered by my insurance company. I put in an out of warranty claim as my vehicle's warranty had run out. Am still waiting to see what the outcome is. Carmichael Ford in Townsville were not helpful at all. We also have asked on many occasions for Carmichael Ford in Townsville to check our parking assist sensors as they have not been working, it wasn't until we took our Mondeo to Midland ford that we were notified that the sensor module had failed also. We had asked them to check the sensors long before the warranty on our car had run out. Now, we are expected to foot the bill of around $6000. I have not claimed this as I am waiting to see what the results of claiming the repairs to my transmission will be. I have owned my 2012 Mondeo Titanium for 6 years and until these faults occurred absolutely loved the Mondeo. However, it is the service provided by Ford dealers that I am not happy with, very unhelpful. I will inform you of my outcome. Good luck.

They are an automatic gearbox with lots of helical cut gears ( not an automatic transmission) the said teeth or gears do wear dropping small deposits of metal that get recirculated through the gearbox if the oil isn’t replaced regularly .
You have to instruct your mechanic to do this by the book otherwise you end up with an unserviceable gearbox.
Plan B .... try and find s smashed low km mondeo with a good box in it .

Yes, it's to help hold your speed to avoid having to brake excessively on hills, which can wear out your brakes faster.

You may have a disconnected or blocked drain hose. You may be able to find where the hose comes through the cabin wall under the dash to make sure it is connected.

Crazyed

Thanks Scottmcs! I went to the Ford dealer and located the drain hose at the drivers side footwell behind the carpet. Easy access really. The drain hole exits the car behind heatshields so is inaccessible externally. I removed the connecting hose and blew out both the exit and heater box connections and hey presto, all good! This has been a great car, this is the first problem I have had in three and a half years and 46000km.

Hi all,

I have a 2008 Mondeo XR5 and have just had the Airconditioner compressor seize. Does anyone know that part number for this? I've been quoted $1100 just for the part brand new so am looking to source one from a wrecker. Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. :)

You could go to a auto electrician if you don't want the Ford Australia workshop service centre to do the work. Alternatively you could just not use the air conditioning. Plenty of people just don't bother turning on the air conditioning. You will likely have trouble finding what you need at the car wreckers but, there's no harm in trying, I suppose.

The MC model diesel engine has a timing chain. I don't know if the petrol engine is the same.
I had a timing belt break on a Toyota Corona in the 1990's. Mercifully the engines' valves weren't damaged. First time I'd ever heard of a rubber timing belt as I had Falcon's up to then.
Capitalism at it best. Go super cheap on the parts that matter most and require you to get towed to the nearest workshop if they break.

Dan4096

Fairly certain these have a timing belt, according to my service book and Gates Australia online parts catalogue.

Hi there. Hope your having a great day. I was driving my 2015 Ford Mondeo MD deisel 2.0 litre home, 200 meters away I had the limited transmission message display come on. I was able to drive the car, yet it was finding it hard to find a gear. Do I have problems?

Possibly it could be time to take the car to a Ford Australia workshop or perhaps a reasonable mechanical repairs and servicing workshop though, a would recommend to take the car to a transmission specialist. It could be a electrics fault though, from your description it most likely isn't but, if ends up being from the transmission solenoid then perhaps a reasonable auto electrician workshop may be able to help.
I also found ultratune experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults.

Umm ! Don think So this has just happened to me, My mate is a ford mechanic and I have been told the mondeo has a fit every now and again with this display error also it jumps out of drive and jerks!! its happened a couple of times !! I think may be I need to visit the transmition fluid and filter issues However I have ONLY done 33K from NEW! this service is not due until 60K Cant put my finger on the problem I think its electronic issue as this started when I reset the computer on oil maint ! awesome gob smacking motor car !!

bobb

FIXED It Changed Trans oil to PENRITE DCT full synthetic oil about $90 per 4 L also use FORD only Transmition Filter # 7M5R6C631AD avail on EBAY for $35 NO More Issues ON jump outs ! approached FORD about problem how the DUCK and Weave ! as they Do ! The problem is in the G box sensors on the MPS6/6DCT450 Dual clutch system FORD can re set the Transmition computer with a plug in and Up load! however is a tad expensive to do, You must change Oil and Filter before you re Flash Computer as its a 50/50 split on Oil or sensor issues, All GOOD Real Happy

Because the car is European you will need to go to a car wrecker. I doubt this is a common issue so you should be able to get parts.

Only 2 wreckers in WA that had mondeos are already missing the fuel filter housing. We are now searching over east to supply something hopefully. Fingers crossed. Still no idea what the sensor is??

We have a mondeo titanium tdi, once it has wzrmed up and you have to stop for awhile, the transmission will clunk going into drive severely, it appears that the dual clutch from my understanding wont stop spinning to engage the drive, have been told itz the solenoids wont cut the oil supply and it keeps spinning till it drops in with a bang. Is there a fix for it, has someone come up with a solution to this problem ford don't want to know about.?

Ford does don’t make the transmission. The company that made the transmission went bankrupt and to replace the ecu you are looking at $3k and $9-12k for the transmission. Ford do not troubleshoot transmission issues, they send it off site to a specialist. The transmission is not serviceable apart from oil. Most of the techs at Ford don’t have the faintest clue about the transmission.

brian
brian

It doesn't seem like the solenoid from the way you described I would recommend to take the car to a transmission specialist workshop.
If does end up being the solenoid - you're better off going to a reasonable auto electrician workshop than the ford australia service centre

I bought an ex-fleet 2011 diesel wagon. I get 1000km per tank of diesel. It has plenty of guts. Goes like the clappers on the freeway. No issues apart from brakes will need serving more often than most cars due to soft rotors/discs for better braking. I go through a lot of headlight globes, but I think that's just my car. It's special...
Check the dust covers are still attached to the back of each headlight housing. I found out later I was missing one. You do get turbo lag sometimes where you put your foot down and the car hesitates. You get used to it. Bonnet release is in the passenger side. That's a nuisance.
Otherwise I can't think of anything negative to look for that's happened to me. I'd definitely buy another one while the diesel prices are good. Just get a mechanic to check it over for the usual wear n tear. Any ideas?

I took my 2015 Mondeo titanium wagon to the drive in but the radio would not stay on for the movie I had to keep re starting the car any ideas ???

1 answer
R. D.
R. D.

Hi Matto unfortunately the radio is automatically set to turn off after one hour if the ignition is off and you are still in the vehicle. Per the manual it says: "ON/OFF CONTROL Press the on/off control. This will also operate the unit for up to one hour with the ignition turned off. The radio will switch off automatically after one hour." Unfortunately modern cars are not designed for drive in theaters. It seems even if you leave the motor running or get out of your car and leave the motor running while having a chin wag with someone it is going to turn off after a 'prescribed time' doesn't say how long but possibly an hour- again from the manual - Note: The ignition may automatically switch off after a period of time if your vehicle has been left unattended with the ignition on. This is to prevent the vehicle battery from discharging. So it seems there is no way around it but to turn off the ignition and turn it back on to continue using the radio for another hour. Good luck I hope that helps.
