Very happy with my purchase
I have just recently traded my 2013 MC mondeo diesel for the new 2016 MD mondeo petrol. The MD is a massive step up from the Mc model . The best thing about this car is the styling, espically the front grill . The drive us much more quiet and handling is slightly better . The transmission in the MC was very rough and noisy but the Md is the complete opposite, Can't even feel the gears change and is a pleasure to drive . Best car I have ever owned .

Newer is better? Depends on your point of view!
I've moved from an MC Zetec TDCi Mondeo to the MD Trend TDCi and there are plenty of differences to like and dislike, listing them below.
Likes:
Cabin is a lot quieter
Marginally better handling
Increased electronic driver aids such as Lane Keeping, Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic High Beam etc.

Still luvving this car!
Third Update:
I have since updated the Mondeo to a 2017 model due to lease changeover. Both have been diesel models. The current vehicle has now done 20K, the previous MD had done approx 43K when traded. Both cars have been fantastic. They both achieved 5.4-5.6L/100K around town, and consistently achieve 5L/100K on a trip (loaded boot, aircon and cruise running), though better if I turn off cruise and air. About 4.7-4.8.
They are great vehicles, well built, no rattles, great features, very comfortable over distances, sure-footed, quiet an...Read more
d great acceleration. Remember, its a diesel. The redesigned turbo and transmission have removed the usual diesel turbo lag and it uses the transmission quickly and effectively to achieve acceleration for overtaking. Having driven the Titanium model for three years, I don't notice the alerts and technology features so much now, they've just become incorporated into driving routines. But I love the auto boot lift, reversing camera, self park features, lane departure and lane change features. When driving older cars I miss these the most. Both MD Mondeo's have been totally reliable with zero issues of concern, mechanical or otherwise. Services are done every 15000K by the book. This is important for oil and transmission fluid changes as they have a set lifespan. I achieved a great trade on the previous vehicle from a Ford Dealer and was very happy with price on the new one. Not sure why Ford don't advertise these more aggressively as they are a top vehicle. I still give them a 5-star thumbs up with ease. For those wanting an extremely comfortable and efficient vehicle, packed with features and technology the Titanium model is a great choice.

Great Family Car
I have had this car now for over 3 years. In that time I have had no warranty issues. Mileage with the diesel engine is consistently around 1,000km per tank, which is outstanding. The power, drive ability, handling and cornering are exceptional for a wagon. Interior has plenty of room for 5 adults comfortably. Rear seats can be folded down which gives you a massive amount of space. Headlights are poor but have changed the bulbs to more powerful ones and that fixed the issue. Although Ford has fixed price servicing the diesel services are q...Read more
uite expensive. October 19th 2018 Update: Awesome car I have had my 2011 MC Mondeo 2 litre Diesel Wagon for over 5 years. In that time I have only had 1 issue with the car. It had a major coolant leak that Ford took a while to detect what the cause was. They eventually fixed it and it hasn't been an issue since. I have had no other problems with my car. The handling and performance of the Mondeo is great. It is has lots of low down torque and heaps of power on the open road. The Mondeo is a great all round family car.Similar opinion? Be careful of Auto Transmission in Diesels
The company I work for ran these cars for about 5 years all wagons starting with petrol models before the diesels were available then the diesels until the new MD was released (Using Golf's now). All in all a good car, the diesel had plenty of power with bucket loads of torque. I found it comfortable and appointed ok for a base model. No auto head lights was my main gripe. Only a few issues over the years, the auto's have given us constant problems on a number of Vehical including mine. Had the auto computer re flashed a number of times which ...Read more
eventually helped the issue, but by then the damage was done. Clutches were slipping when cruising in high gears, used to be a long delay when taking off from a standing start and when changing gears it used to grind gears. Another car has just had the auto rebuilt at approx 30,000 km. Also had 3 engines destroy themselves approx $10,000 repair bill each time, 2 due to lack of servicing and 1 engine failure under warranty. The first 2 missed 2 services, that's all.Similar opinion? I have never felt less control in a vehicle
The Mondeo is a very nicely built car. It's comfortable and drives very well but is severely let down by massively over-complex controls and features that leave you feeling uncertain as to what is going to happen most of the time you are driving.
Credit to Ford for developing imaginative systems towards fully automated driving, but they should have thought a LOT more carefully about the value these features add to the driving experience before shoe-horning them all into this vehicle. It's just far too confusing.

Ticks all my fussy boxes
This is my second Mondeo (thanks to a fallen tree). When I was going through the ordeals of what I required in a car I wanted these things: Safe, big boot (practical), economical, parking sensors, decent sound system, bluetooth, affordable, cruise control and with decent handling. There was NO other car that ticked those boxes as easily as the Mondeo. Unfortunately I now hop into other cars from time to time and they are ruined for me. I pick holes in them. My only complaint is that being a European car the brakes and rotors wear out more quick...Read more
ly and the wheels are constantly getting dirty with brake dust. Just watch out if the front suspension is bouncy around the 120k mark. Suspension is probably due to be replaced around that mark (KYB's are $360). Also when you get one of these cars make sure the power steering fluid is flushed asap as mechanics never do this in a normal service. The filter in the power steering reservoir is a non cleanable part so best to keep the fluid clean.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

3 Years On - Love the car - but cant get over the problems!
Alright folks I've had the car now for 3 years and 6 months - correction 3 years and 4 months, as it has spent almost 2 months at the dealership and the manufacturer.
This is over a cruise control issue that started in May 2014 and has not yet been resolved. Simply put either the cruise control refuses to disengage or it completely shuts off by itself, and there have been so many parts thrown at it over the last 22 months its not funny. Ironically, it seems that this particular vehicle is possessed and not even the ford engineering guys in ...Read more
Melbourne have it resolved (if they have, they sure haven't told us about it). Long story short, my car is being replaced with a new one, with contribution from us! Nevertheless I am here to review the car after 3 years of ownership and that is what I will do! From a performance perspective, very little has changed the long term fuel consumption average is 6.1L/100 nowhere close to the 5.3L/100KM that they claim, but still impressive as the car is also idled a fair bit both in winter and summer. There are no body squeaks or rattles for the 3 years and 95,000 kms that the vehicle has traveled and therefore would score the build quality 5/5. What I have noticed is that my vehicle has an issue with the wheels staying aligned, particularly excessive negative camber. The vehicle has wheel alignment corrected every 10,000 kms over the last 40,000kms. Resulting in uneven tyre wear and tyre life of approximately 45000kms. Would give this aspect a 2/5. I have to add that the vehicle has not been in any incident to compromise suspension/steering components. Perhaps just mine, or more common, yet to be determined.Similar opinion? Mondeo MD 2016 Diesel Wagon Test Drive
There is prior review of the older MC Model from me which reflects on this test drive report of a base model MD Diesel Wagon.
My complaint of the MC has been totally resolved by this MD model. This was tyre roar on coarse chip sealed bitumen from the OEM fitted Goodyear Efficient Grip to my MC being 215/50/17 size.
The extra sound proofing and the acoustic glass windshield and side glass have paid off as the test car with the same tyres (but 235 wide) was absolutely quiet on the same roads. Off course, new tyres with new soft and deep rubber ...Read more

Very Happy with the Car!
Bought my Mondeo last month after I read the reviews here. Bought a company fleet 2010 Diesel Turbo Wagon MC and its quite economical but also has lots of power. The interior build quality is extremely good and feels very strong and classy. The dashboard although good could have been given a more modern look. The white colour looks good as Ford sells them with free premium paint. Did a 400 km highway trip and used just about 20 litres (5L/100 kms) of diesel so its extremely economical if you do highway trips. City driving yields around 7L-9L ...Read more
per 100 kms depending on where you drive and the traffic. Never considered the petrol version so I am not sure how it compares. Always wanted the diesel turbo version as I wanted the car to be good at towing and economical. Pros: + Economical + Lots of Torque + Build quality is very good Cons: Slight Lag during pickup (only applies to diesel version I believe)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Annoying design faults and cost of running
My Mondeo reminds me of my 1970 V8 station wagon. Why? Because around town it uses just as much fuel and its turning circle is just as large. Lovely to drive but terrible to have to turn around in a tight space. Its roomy with loads of boot but there is a price to pay.
Also, what genius decided that it would be a good idea to mount the lower door seal on the car body instead of the door? Picture getting out with boots on or especially getting out when you are parked along side another car such that you have to squeeze out. All too often your foot clips it and rips out the seal and a few clips. Brake bulbs blow about every 3 months. Would never recommend this car.

I love my Ford Mondeo LX
I bought my mondeo with 24000 km on it. I nave put another 25000 kms and it hasn"t missed a beat. The 2.3 litre engine needs more power but, no complaints. A lovely car to drive with good safety and comfort. The handling is sure and stable and I like how itsits on the road. I put aĺloys on it as it came with steelies and it looks as good as the day I got it. It can be a little noisy on some road surfaces but, generally a quiet car to sit in and enjoy. ld use a usb port and a reversing camera as they should be standard on any car these days. The bluetooth works well but the voice control was hard to learn. I am averaging about 9 litres per 100 kms and I think this is acceptable for this size of car. I like my mondeo and would recommend a mondeo to anyone wanting a family car with class, safety and poise. Just invest a few more dollars and buy the turbo petrol. Absolutely brilliant value
The Mondeo third generation has got to be the best value vehicle on the Australian market, largely due to Ford Australia's misdirected attempts to support sales of the local Falcon.
The Mondeo is an example of an excellent European vehicle undersold in our market (it shares a bit with Volvo).
Mine is a Zetec hatch. It is without doubt the most versatile vehicle I have ever driven.
It is comfortable. It is lavishly equipped. It is unfailingly reliable. It is economical to service and run. It looks good. It is big! Its boot is HUGE. It is a...Read more
mazingly versatile! I enjoy full leather interior, heated seats, sensors for parking, rain & lights, bluetooth, voice control, etc. etc. On the down side, there is nothing really wrong with it apart from some paint chips on the bumpers. Mine is the petrol variant. I would have loved the diesel but they were as rare as hen's teeth in 2008 as Ford Australia failed to comprehend the demand for diesel back then (onya Ford marketing dept.) The 2.3L petrol engine is perfectly competent but not exhilarating. The automatic gearbox is surely a major feature as it extracts the best from the engine. Steering and suspension are very well set up and nicely responsive. A pleasant drive in any conditions. Tyres are sure footed, however replacing the original Goodyears with Pirellis has reduced roadnoise without compromising good roadholding. Competing in European markets against the likes BMW 3 and Mercedes C series, the Mondeo here is pitched against the Madza6 as its nearest rival, however I would readily pick an upper spec Zetec or Titanium variant over a Mercedes C class any day.Similar opinion? An accomplished and very economical car
I bought this low mileage Ford lease list car on the advice of a Ford employee with expertise on the (Peugot) diesel engine it uses. You really are not aware that it's a diesel from inside the car or when driving it. My first impression was the surprising power. This car wants to hoon and Mr Plod won't let you. It has stacks of acceleration and the reason is some very clever engine management which was later adopted by the European manufacturers who probably wished they'd thought of it first. When you roll your foot in to the accelerator the c...Read more
omputer recognises that you require power. So it cuts the aircon, cuts the alternator and slightly boosts the turbo. The result is a very strong surge of power. This is a Titanium model which means it has all the bells and whistles available then in 2015. There are so many features I can't list them all here. One that I use a lot is 'follow me' adaptive cruise control. It uses radar to sense the car ahead and match it's speed with a drivers option to set the distance back. There's absolutely no stress driving in heavy traffic. If the traffic ahead stops suddenly the car will brake sharply, sound a warning tone and disconnect the cruise. It won't stop, unlike the later models. There is stability control, lane departure warning with 'stick shake' if you drift over the lane markings. There is what seems to be an accurate fatigue warning system. The headlights dip automatically and have curve following. The wipers operate automatically. There is voice control, Bluetooth connectivity, phone charging outlets, heated seats, heated demister windscreen etc etcetera. I love it. At 100 kph GPS on the Geelong highway the instant fuel readout was 4 litres per 100 kms and it's using about 7 litres around town. I forget when I last filled it and I've driven from Portland to Berwick to Sorrento, Geelong, then back to Portland on one tank and it still reported more than 100 km range left.1 comment

Fantastic car, comfortable, safe and great to drive!
Mine is a Titanium Wagon. It is well built, well equipped and very comfortable. The car performs perfectly, is great to drive and I'd rate it the best vehicle I've ever owned. Mine is diesel, economical and with great performance. I chose it above a Mercedes 250 wagon, better safety provisions and (for me) more comfortable with at least equivalent performance.

So Far So Good!
I've bought a 2008 Mondeo TDCI and so far couldn't be happier! I've done 10 000km on it and it averages about 6 litres of diesel per 100km. Mind you I drive mostly on open roads and am a very smooth driver. It does about 7.5/100 if you gas it a bit more.
It has 140 000km so far, I'll keep you posted once I go in for 1st service since I bought it which is at 145k!

Having now done another 45k kms in it and serviced it twice, fuel average is still below 6L even driving around in the hills. Left door handle cable broke, ...Read more
that's a bit annoying. I've had an issue with replacing my key due to a flat battery which cost me over 400$ from Ford. Their customer service in Mount Barker is great though. I purchased my MA Mondeo XR5 Turbo new in 2008. Since then, it has been garaged, serviced religiously by the book and has covered a very modest 61000km in 7years (as I take public transport to work)
This car has never let me down. It is a joy to drive and that Volvo engine is a cracker. Performance is deceptively quick, fuel consumption is reasonable (mine is averaging 9.0l/100km on 98RON petrol) and the brakes are just outstanding. Ride comfort has been further enhanced by filling the tyres with nitrogen. The steering and handling are accura...Read more

The Almost Perfect Car
I am the proud owner of a diesel titanium hatchback and having owned many cars in my day this is the best by far. First the build quality is fantastic as it's built in Belgium and the engine is amazing. I get 1000kms from the 70l tank for the city cycle, it's got amazing tourqe for towing and still very zippy.
Very comfortable to drive, very solid (I was t-boned by a drunk driver doing 70kmh and the damage was surprisingly contained. Still written off so I went and got another mondeo).
The only things I can fault are the transmission and aut...Read more

This car has everything and is an absolute joy to drive. An under-appreciated classic of tomorrow!!
After losing a work vehicle and knowing I had to drive approx. 500 km each week to and from work, my modified 2001 Forester GT wasn't going to cut it from a fuel economy or a comfort level. So the search to replace it started in earnest. Fortunately it did not take too long to narrow down the field. I did not want a station wagon (been there done that too many times) and I did not want a sedan. I wanted a big hatch and in my mind was the old Rover 3500 with a big hatch. Absolutely nothing out there in a big hatch unless you wanted to spend 50-6...Read more
0k on a BMW 3 series Grand Tourismo 5 door hatch...um...no. Process of elimination draw me to the Ford Mondeo. There is a few models so which one? My mind remembers a cool looking car I remembered seeing...a Mondeo XR5. It is the turbo charged sporty variant Ford Australia made as part of their go fast range....XR5 Focus, XR6, XR8 Falcons etc. So once I had asked around, it was preferable to get the MB or second evolution of the XR5 Mondeo...it fixed some of the issues with the MA series and added some standard features....Sunroof, Bluetooth phone connectivity (best ever) and the best feature on the car...Interactive cruise control (more later). Test drove a few of the MA model - great but it confirmed that I wanted an MB model. When I was looking there was 8 for sale in the whole country!!! Four of these were in WA so they were out and a few on the east coast were a bit high in kilometres and a fair bit pricey. Found a great example for sale in Townsville...looked around but could not match it for the features and it only had 105k on the clock. Flew to Townsville and bought it. Drove it from Townsville to Sydney in 2 days (2300km) and to be honest, I could not have chosen a more prefect car. It is the ultimate in Grand Tourers - it just eats the road while keeping the occupants in lavish surroundings. Firstly some numbers, the motor is a straight 5 cylinder 2.5 litre turbocharged engine "borrowed" from the Volvo parts bin. It makes 162kW and over 300nm of torque. Anyone ever try and tell you the MA-MB-MC Mondeo is a medium sized car has not been in one. They are huge inside and out. Literally an inch narrower than a falcon of the same year and wheelbase is actually longer than the falcon. The seats easily accomodates 5 full sized people - the rear legroom is huge as is the headroom. The boot is truly cavernous and takes a very big load. She’s a big girl and weighs in at 1600kg. It is smart off the line and the turbo give it a very smooth powerful delivery of power. It is a six speed manual transmission only - no auto slushbox here! It is incredibly smooth to drive and it rewards the driver with a real sense of satisfaction when driving anywhere. The performance is on the right side of snappy and you will want to take advantage of the excellent cruise control - overtaking means you pull out and gas it...and if you’re not careful you've smashed the speed limit easily. A few reasons for this...it's a very smooth drive and the car is insanely quiet. I came off a Subaru with the fully sic boxer WRX super loud exhaust and my wife said it was amazing how quiet the new car is. The naturally quiet cabin is one of the best features of the car – and it’s built into every Mondeo!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Obviously as models went mechanicals and the body changed.
Due to work I was always a falcon supporter, great kms and reliability, but I think the Mondeo is similar but surpassing it in design and reliablity in peripherals the the same is in motor design reliability.
When I was a kid we bought holdens because fords were a little more expensive.
Every Weekend I worked on the Holden,HG,HT,HX ect to fix something, but once I saved enough for an old XP falcon Ute I never looked back and bought fords from then on.
Sorry if I am off on a tangent.
