I would like to cancel my GO Mastercard

You have to ring the GO Mastercard call centre to do that. Also any payments you make can take up to five business days to appear on the account, so using this as an example, if you paid your account off in full today, you wouldn't be able to ring tomorrow and cancel your account. You would have to wait until probably Thursday of next week. Also at the moment Latitude Finance are using the excuse of COVID-19 to not answer phone calls. Their own recorded message states that the average wait time to have your call answered is around four hours! Also your account is NOT actually cancelled until you get a letter from Latitude Finance in the mail, stating so. I closed down a credit card account with them, only to find it still open and active, four and a half years later. Latitude staff, are slow, lazy and rude.

iamagirl1969

Even a letter from Latitude finance is not proof that an account is closed down. I went through online banking at a branch (last week) and accidentally sent a final payment for my go mastercard account to a closed down credit card account from 2016. They have taken that money (Latitude Finance) and now I have to fight them to transfer the funds to the one remaining (active) go mastercard account, where it was meant to go to originally I have contacted my Bank (Bank SA) about this mistake, but they are about as useful as a chocolate teapot, telling me that Go Mastercard has ten business days to reply back to them (which so far they haven't done) Latitude finance are as usual are behaving like utter numptys completely ignoring the fact that this money should have never been accepted into this account to begin with. To cut a long story short, they don't close down accounts. Its not in their best interest to do so. Keeping accounts open gives them an excuse to keep charging fees and or maybe they keep unused accounts to launder money through Who knows?

My late partner (of 27 years) suddenly died March 2018.
The GO card was in his name although I had a card in my name as well. Wheh he died I paid off the balance of the card.
As I would like to buy a new TV during Harvey Normans interest free period. I went to activate the card in my name, I cant do it as I cant remember what credit limit we had on it.
How do I find out my credit limit to enable me to activate the card.
Thank you.

Lost paperwork and need to close account. Phone lines are jammed with nearly 3 hours call queues. Any other way of contacting you without an account number??? Online chat would be awesome...

Go Mastercard doesn't have an online chat facility, that I am aware of. The best bet would be to ring first thing in the morning 8am straight, and just hang in there until you are connected. Sorry I can't give you any more information than that. I am looking at closing my account as soon as I can pay it out, and am dreading having to phone them to close down my account. Be mindful though, I closed down my previous Go Mastercard and then found out it was still active four years later. Unless you get a letter from them stating that they have closed down the account, they actually haven't. The staff are lazy and inept.

I think this is exactly what happened, thanks iamagirl1969. It is a 10 year old card that should have been closed YEARS ago. I haven't had a single point of contact with them over all this time. Let this be a warning to anyone thinking of using GO; Don't. Bloody outrageous.

I would ring the customer service number which is 1300 462 273. The consultant was very helpful when I called. I explained that I wanted to pay the outstanding balance and cancel my Go Card. I provided my debit card details over the phone to permit the transfer of funds. They waived the establishment fee.

HI Hayden, not meaning to be rude, but your contact with them was four months ago. Have you tried contacting them lately? The last time I tried to phone them, which was like four days ago, I got a recorded message saying that it was better that you not call them at all, rather you should go online and leave them a message. However, as you may or may not be aware, you cannot close down an account online, so the only option is to phone them. Only now Latitude finance (who owns Go Mastercard are using COVID-19 as a convenient excuse to become uncontactable. So hey no contact and they can employ less staff, and they can also deny customers the ability to close down their account, which means that they can still charge fees (e.g. an annual account keeping fee for example) even on an account that has no funds owing.

iamagirl1969

Oh I also forgot to add that the recorded message also stated that if I decided to wait on the phone, the average call wait time would be around four hours. So good luck with trying to phone them.

Yeah will do, not sure about getting rid of it just yet, we will be doing a few more interest free purchases after the TVs been paid off...Then yeah will more than likely get rid of it...

I paid mine off & was actually in Credit ($35.41) & wasn't charged any fees. As a renting pensioner without assets it's the easiest way for me to purchase expensive items. Interest is high but if items bough on interest-free period it helps heaps.

Just got approved. If I buy say $3000 of items from Harvey Norman, on 50 months interest free, do I pay $3000 decided by 50 months equal amounts and a once off $25 fee and then the $5 monthly fee on top of my equal payments??? Is that all I pay?? As long as I do that before end of 50 months

Devalued Customer

Yes if the offer is for 50 months equal payments but the monthly fee is currently $5.95 . . . . beware they do like to increase fees etc from time to time and your Rewards points get devalued along the way as they hike the redemption points required massively from time to time. Make sure payments are up to date to avoid nasty interest applied, they do show on monthly Statement in red 'Total due' and also in red 'Payment to reduce future interest:' if you're using the card for other purchases adding up, that bit is handy to know. Customer service is pretty good so ask any questions you may have.

50months interest free through Harvey Norman, paid three months in advance when I went on holiday and got treated to default fees! Their interest is higher than banks buyer beware !

I can't do it anymore. I used my GoMastercard too many times at different stores and the interest has gotten to be too much. I'll never be able to pay it off. I've really been trying! Up to $300 per month and I keep getting $90 fees for nothing! How the hell can they expect me to pay all that? I've paid FAR more than the original price for my TV and PC. I'm glad I have them but it's like this is a scam. So, I'm just wondering: what happens if I stop paying it? Will my TV and PC get repossessed or something? Will it permanently ruin my credit? At this point, I'm willing to say screw my good credibility. This just isn't worth it. So can someone tell me: should I just stop? Will they take my PC and TV if I do? What will happen? Can I stop?!

I bought a drone (March 2018) and a dryer (Dec 2018) from Harvey Norman using 50 months interest free via Go Mastercard. I noticed that when you avail of the interest free, you pay more than the advertised amount of the product ( for example, if you look in the Harvey Norman website, a DJI Mavic Air fly more combo costs $1397. If you buy 50 months int. free, it costs $1694.50 over 50 months because they said they incorporated the $5.95 monthly fee). So you pay $33.89/month. The same thing with my dryer, they incorporated another $5.95/month in the cost of purchase. I also noticed that in my bill, I'm also charged a $5.95 account fee AND a $0.95 payment fee each month. So this means, each month, I get charged $18.8 (5.95 x 3 + 0.95). Is this the same for everyone else?

Hi Francis, I have a debt of $9000 with Gomastercard. It will cost me almost $9200 to pay them out in one hit. Every payment I do is at the post office which costs me $2.50 and a $5.95 for acc service fee. On their website look under Rates & Fees to get a good handle on the extra chargers. Otherwise ring and ask them for an explanation.

It isnt a charity mate, understand that you are borrowing money and it can’t be totally interest free. They have to get something out of it as well, it’s a business at the end of the day. I reckon you can take advantage of it if you are going to purchase say house furnishings for example worth $10k..in 50months they’ll earn $300 (5.95 per month fee) for the 10k you borrowed that’s an absolute bargain rather than doing a personal loan with 12% interest annually..
