Holding Rpm bike while doing a class before, or holding a bike going shopping and re-entering before class starts, leaving others little chance without coming 1/2 hr early. Not Happy

Goodlife are only running 2/3rds of the classes they ran pre covid, despite the fact that most classes are full and WA is pretty much running as it was pre covid. (Gyms can have 40 participants)
Booking has been introduced for classes which makes it worse. People prebook and don't turn up for class. What makes it worse is that they are not penalised. People miss out on classes but Goodlife cares not! If they have a booking system people need to know that if they book they either need to attend or go online and cancel. If they fail to do ...
EDIT: Goodlife Browns Plains contacted me and promised for an immediate cancellation of the membership and reimbursed any excess. Not sure if I just had to have the case escalated to the csm but they were professional and amicable with the situation and I’m grateful for the outcome. This gym was great to use but I would suggest making sure to have everything like cancellations in writing for anyone signing up. Read your contract thoroughly.

Sometimes not enough equipment to go around especially at peak hours morning and night, but still fairly good quality equipment and classes and also many locations

Goodlife Balwyn regularly has men lying naked in the male sauna. Although there is a small sign stating that clothes are to be worn this edict is consistently ignored and management does not appear to care.

Ok gym with reasonable membership. Desk staff are nice and courteous and facilities are decent with enough weights, machines and cross fit racks to please most members. HOWEVER, you can rock over to a free weights spot (eg bench press) and see the meatheads lifting then not putting the weights back. They also don't use towels so there is sweat all over the benches. If you don't mind these things, then Goodlife in Port Melbourne is for you!
We got the 5 day trial pass and went in to try it out, upon entering the requested we leave our license at the counter they will get a sale person to talk to come talk to us when they are free. about joining which is fine. after an hour we were ready to leave to go to work and asked for our license back but the front counter lady said we need to go sit down and wait for the sales staff or pay for the casual visit fee. Seeing her lie through her teeth, we did not bother try to point out the fact we got the 5 day trial and there she has no right to hold our license when we requested it back. The front counter lady's demeanor leaves a sour experience at a otherwise ok gym.
The gym near me has good facilities however before signing up I was under the impression (as I was told it as upstairs) that the gym had a tread climber which was the reason I was going back to the gym in the first place as it works great for me. Then once I signed up and was ready to start I was told they removed them all. So now I'm paying for a gym that doesn't have the equipment I personally require and I've been locked in for 12 months!! I basically haven't been for the whole period I have been paying for due to the fact that I have a ...

Gym was OK, I only really used the pool.
The trouble started when my credit card was blocked by the bank due to some fraud overseas, however the Goodlife fee collection agency, "Debit Success" promptly added $10 to my bill which I refused to pay it as it was obviously not my fault. Over the next three weeks I emailed back and forth with "Debit Success" but they continued to add weekly fees to my account for a gym service I could not use while being in "arrears".
I am fed up with them expecting me to pay for a service I cannot use while in ...

I had been a member with Goodlife for over a year and up until recently, I decided to cancel because of my financial difficulties. I received several text messages from someone who works at the Preston gym (I have a feeling she was using her own phone as it was a personal message) to discuss my membership. Then received several calls, which I couldnt answer because of work. Then yesterday, she calls again and said she was calling in regards of me "paying for something" (her words, not mine) even after I told her I wanted to cancel and was told ...
Read moreshe would leave a note on my file. I walked in today because I had enough of getting missed calls and texts from strangers and I just couldnt believe how rude the workers were. I was asked multiple times why I was cancelling and was pretty much ignored once I gave an answer. I wasnt even told what was to happen after I had signed the papers, I just got told "that's it" and ignored. It wasn't a terrible gym but I realised that no one wants to help you if you plan to cancel.- 4 reviews

As a long term member of the Subiaco gym I am extremely disapointed with the poor level of eqipment maintenance and the reluctance of management to do anything about it.Over two months ago I reported that the SKY channel which carries news and business news was not working.Despite numerous requests to staff and management it has not been fixed. They have no sense of customer service.
When Goodlife took over fitness first in WA they promised that the standards and equipment would remain the same. They have not honoured this commitment.

Went to Burnside gym SA tonight and when it came to using the stretching mat I was reminded that they have changed the mats from the heavy plastic cover with thick foam to these almost non-existent, impossible to clean, mats. Having a nerve problem in my back, stretching on the hard surface just aggravated my back. I complained at reception and reminded them that this could easily be an OH&S issue. I was told that Burnside gym had no choice and that it was head office decision. They advised head office of other complaints, but I believe no one ...
Read morefrom h/o was interested in listening. Hmmmm!! It seems to me they are not interested in hearing from their clients or allowing us to have a voice. Don't they think we know what's best for us. They could have just saved themselves money by leaving original mats in. I'm pretty p_____d at this stage. Oh, and I've been a member for around 15 years - ongoing!! For now will have to bring an extra mat with me, not what you would expect when already having to pay dearly for a membership!! I attended the mount lawley club on a 7 day free pass, and from the second i walked in the door i was hassled relentlessly about joining even though i told them firmly no that i could not afford it i even told them my weekly income and the girl continued, explaining the direct debiting and pushing pushing pushing until i ended up just telling her to show me the gym i don't have time to be sweet talked it wouldn't work. Then she went into a mood and was super rude, abrupt, didn't show me one machine i did not know (i have been to gyms before i k...
Read morenow my way around one but this machine was a mix of stuff) and then rolled her eyes at me! So i fetched a bloke, he was lovely and showed me everything, he mentioned all their personal training and memberships i said no and he left me alone. I complained about the woman, not impressed. Facilities were brilliant, i went early in the morning, very late in evening, during the day and on a weekend day. Even at almost full capacity everybody obliged by the 30 minute machine rule and everybody wiped down their machines which was awesome. Mats were thick and made floor stuff comfortable, equipment was excellent, everybody was pleasant. Then i get changed about to walk out the door and every single day i was hassled for joining, even when i told them my obligation free pass allowed me full access and i couldn't afford it now, so i would use the pass and see. I just wish the staff didn't let them down, it's scary enough being in a position of lesser than them with their muscles and knowledge, i want a gym where staff are approachable and friendly and helpful, not getting annoyed when i decline their memberships. Pool was clean, the facilities very clean and well maintained, everything in great nick and a lovely place. I just wish the staff weren't so annoying and persistent, i have now joined at snap and am beyond happy there, much kinder staff. I would have joined eventually if the staff hadnt let mt lawley down. clean, presentable, reasonably affordable, plenty of membership options, great machines and clean environment, variance of machines Staff were rude and disrespectfulIt is a beautiful gym, I loved how clean everything was, professional staff when they weren't hassling me. Adelaide King Wm St is well equipped and generally the staff are excellent. Last week a member using heavy weights - and I mean heavy - could not sustain the effort to return the weight to the floor and literally dropped it, over and over and over, creating an ear-splitting thump that stopped everyone in their tracks. I reported this and was advised that it was acceptable conduct-- this despite signs saying "please do not drop weights."
Thanks for letting us know Grumpy - we have sent your feedback onto the team at Adelaide City for follow up!

I am a regular gym goer (6 -7 days per week) and have been going for 8 years.
This is my review based on my experiences.
The good parts:
- Staff are often friendly.
- Cheaper than Fitness First.
- A clearer website price-wise than its rivals.
- Membership cards fit onto keyring.
- Clean change rooms.

Can I ask which Goodlife Health clubs in Perth WA have a swimming pool ??
My home club is in Bibra Lake which has a pool. I have just upgraded my membership to be able to use all the Goodlife gyms in Perth..
Bibra Lake Pool is great but has been out of action for months and the LIES about repairs are laughable. Ring and ask about pool!
Why do you think it is ok to charge members for kick starter packs, 8 week challenges and quarterly coaching yet the trainer does these UNPAID?
This seems very dodgy. None of the crap they are leads to the trainer or business building hours you are profiting extra on top of membership and rent charge to trainers as well
Are members aware that the trainers pay rent to the gym to work there? They aren't employees even though they are wearing a goodlife top. They are paying a $1600 contract then from 3 months onwards $300 plus a week rent to work there. Kick starter packs or jump start packs which the gym charges the member are done by the trainer as unpaid sessions. The 8 or 12 week challenge which the gym charge members the trainer does unpaid. Quarterly coaching which some members receive again is done by the trainer for free. This gym franchise is using trainers as unpaid labour and dodgy employee entitlements.
Bit late but it's standard to charge rent to trainers. Trainers can work for salary but it tends to be better to just pay rent and collect all your earnings yourself. Goodlife has one of the highest r...

And all these challenges and quarterly sessions etc, unpaid as they may be, get a potential client in front of a PT for them to attempt to convert into a long term client. Getting clients in front of the PT is the most surefire way of getting ongoing clients. Your problem isn't with Goodlife, it's with the fitness industry as a wholeMy problem is with all gyms that use trainers as unpaid labour.
