It drops the signal intermittently
It is a nice device, works ok when it is working and is really reasonable priced... BUT, I highly recommend searching for "chromecast tv hdmi signal dropout" before buying this device.
It is only compatible with about 50% of TVs in the market and just cuts out randomly all the time and Google support just blame your TV and cant help.
I contacted Google support and they said that it is the product design - it is only designed to work with newer TVs with the latest HDMI specs. So all old TVs are basically redundant.
Apple Figured out how to be compatible with 99% of TVs
Vodafone Figured out how to be compatible with 99% of TVs
Panasonic Figured out how to be compatible with 99% of TVs
Lenovo Figured out how to be compatible with 99% of TVs...

Pointless for multiple users
Bought as a gift for a family member in my household. We assumed it would obviously support switching between multiple profiles and improve everyone's experience with the lounge room TV. Alas, this device only supports a single primary user and will only deliver and curate personalised watch lists for that one user. I contacted device support staff through the Google store online where I purchased it from. They said they would email me instructions about profile switching capabilities, but I never heard from them again. It's astounding this fea...
Read moreture is unsupported, since personalisation is the whole point of the chromecast with google tv. Secondly, the included remote has buttons that can be paired with TV's to perform volume, power and input functions, using HDMI CEC protocols. No amount of messaging around, factory resetting or updating firmware could make this work for my Hisesnse TV. This is not a marginal TV brand... It seems as though Google could improve on the lacklustre functionality by updating the database of remote control codes to improve connectivity. What did Google device support suggest for this issue? That I contact Hisense about the problem. Even if Hisense support did respond (they didn't) and were to give me updates remote codes for my TV, the google tv remote settings do not allow for manual code entry. Not happy with the purchase. Google over-promises and under-delivers on this product.Purchased in at Google Store for $99.

Additional Paid content is ridiculous!
I have netflix, stan, disney plus and Amazon prime subscriptions. With all of these you would think most movies would be free however up to 50% of movies in the library have an addition charge to `rent` the movie. I do not pay the money for all the above subscriptions to then fork out more to see a movie on these services. I will be leaving some of them soon.
Purchased for $100.

No input button control with Kogan TV's
I'm using my TV as a computer monitor and decided to get the Google TV to catch-up with any free to air shows I my have missed. All good setting up and lots of info video's online if you need help. Only problem is the input button on the Google remote isn't compatable with any Kogan TV's. So in my case if I wanted to go from HDMI 3 (Google TV) to HDMI 2 (computer), I need to use sources on original TV remote. Then back to Google TV remote for it's menu. I'm sure there's a universal remote code that works somewhere for Kogan TV's but at this time Google Chromecast/TV hasn't got it.

Can't connect to a Google Nest router
I've got 2 standard Chromecasts, 1 4k Chromecast and a Google TV Chromecast, I also have a Google Nest router with a Google access point and a Google Pixel 4a phone, you'd think that these would all work great together but that's not the case. After spending a couple of hours with their "support" they told me what I already had found out, that the "smart" Google Nest router was putting the Google TV on the 2.4ghz network and all of the other devices on the 5ghz network, this means that I can't control my Google TV with my phone (which is requir...
Read moreed for apps like Foxtel Go). If I had any other router I could manually connect to the 5ghz network, or change the channel which is what was recommended, but the Nest router doesn't let you choose these options. In the end the only thing their "support" could offer is to let their engineers know (even though this is a known issue already and still hasn't been fixed), and if I can find my receipt then they'll replace it... I couldn't believe it when they said that, as if replacing it will somehow fix it. I guess I should really be writing this review under the Nest Router since it's mainly a problem with that, but you would think that when you buy all Google products that they would work easily, or that their support could at least provide a way to make it work, but no.Purchased for $99.

Google make it impossible to get warranty for this product. Hotline does not work.
Google TV is actually ok but Google make it impossible to get warranty. I have called there "24/7" hotline several times but goes straight to message bank saying "we are currently closed, please call back during business hours. It seems like they are having issues with the Australian Government but it is not right to take this out on their customers. This is the risk of having big companies have too much power, they think they are bigger than the law! No more Google products for me thank you.

Spammy
Aggregation of all of your subscribed services into one simple stream is what we've all been waiting for. Unfortunately, when you start using it you quickly discover that every second or third row is full of Google rentals and items for sale. It's full of this Google spam, and there's no option to disable it. Well, there is, but in true Google style (like their privacy options), if you disable something they don't want you to, they basically lobotomise the service so it's extremely basic and no longer useful; well beyond what should be necessar...
Read morey. It's much like Amazon Fire devices which are dirt-cheap because they're primarily tools designed to help you buy more from Amazon. Unlike Amazon Fire devices, the Chromecast with Google TV is $100 in Australia which is not much less than what regular non-spammy Android TV devices cost. Aside from this invasive advertising, the device is very nice to use. It's fast and the remote is decent, although the navigation buttons are designed in such a way that it is very easily to accidentally select letters that you don't mean to when navigating the keyboard.Purchased in at Google Store for $99.
