Pixel xl

I'm most satisfied with the Android OS interface of this phone.
Never had any problems whatsoever.
The phone gets regular fast updates from Google.
This phone is the least expensive flagship phone.
Android in it's pure form is the easiest, most logical, and best system IMO
The phone is plain, durable, robust, very good camera and battery life.
Every feature is fast, reliable and easy to learn, IMO.
Always use apps from the Google store, as they are clean and work.
Get as much memory as you can afford.
Charge the battery between 30 and 80 percent and it'll last much longer.

Purchased in May 2021 at Ebay online seller for $420.00.

Great camera

The display looks amazing and gets a decent amount of battery life. I haven't had any errors/crashing/instability issues. I do sometimes have to restart the phone to get the bluetooth to connect to my car stereo.

I love everything about this phone except the reception I get from it. I can be next to someone with who is with the same provider but with a different phone and they will have reception and I won't. The reception keeps dropping out and cutting call off even when I don't move. Apart from this I love everything else about the phone.

Purchased in May 2021 at Vodafone for $1,500.00.

Camera is an issue with NO FIX or response from Google Pixel XL

published

For months upon months now I'm dealing with camera issues - fatal errors...won't spin around for selfies & constant errors in 3rd party apps such as Marco Polo. Also, now having issues with ringing at all or notifications of missed calls or voice mail. Since I'm still making payments on the phone, it would be nice to know this widespread problem will be fixed. 3 more payments & then I guess I'll be picking out a different Droid to make payments on. Very disappointing to have a major brand simply ignore it's customers.

I have Android auto in my cars and all the Samsung phones etc do not function correct but Pixel works a dream. Free cloud direct to Google for all your photos so never lose them again. The camera also captures great images with many functions and styles. Will upgrade to the 2 soon

So many issues - wont buy this phone again

published

Good camera and easy to use phone. I have however had numerous issues with the phone freezing on a variety of apps. (Have to restart the phone each time). Have also had sound issues on calls and ring volume. Finally taking screen shots on this phone is such a pain!

Great phone

published

Personally I was worried switching from apple to android again but the Pixel XL is great and doesn't make me regret my decision. The camera is fantastic and takes awesome quality photos and I get the latest & best updates. Would recommend to new phone searchers :) Bit on the pricey side, but worth it.

Fantastic Phone

Really great phone. One of easiest phone to operate I have ever had. It really is simply to use. The camera is awesome, takes fantastic good quality photos. The apps run smoothly on the phone also. I am happy with the brightness and quality of the phone. It's very fast and great how you can get the latest Android version.

Great Phone.... terrible product support from Google

published

Have used the phone for nearly 1 year.... was absolutely fabulous with great quality pictures and very easy to use. Then in February, Google released an update to the phone service app... and it all went down hill... for three months now, and even after a replacement phone on which the camera failed, Google hasn't supported the product... so unless you are a phone guru... stay away from Google products as product support will let you down... a shame because original equipment is great.

The Pixel XL is a dud

published

Since the software update to 8.1.0 My Pixel XL has had problems. Firstly the phone screen would not turn on. Currently the microphone on my Pixel XL is dead. I can hear incoming callers but they cannot hear me. The eBay seller advertised the phone with AU WARRANTY which looks like a fraud as the seller refuses to answer my emails and has seemingly not taken any action. I have had one quote of $550 to replace the main board on my PIxel XL. This problem is wide spread so much so that a Class Action has been launched against Google in the USA over the dead microphone issue. In the early days of this problem Google was replacing dud phones with new ones and in Australia ???

Wonderful Phone

published

This phone is wonderfully crisp and has the best camera on the market. The quality and experience has been unmatched in any Android phone I have owned so far. The only downside I guess was the fact that I bought the 32gb version because that fit my budget better, but had I known I would love the phone so much, I would have paid extra for the 128 gb. Definitely recommend.

A truly outstanding device

published

Despite bland looks, this device is a great performer. Battery life is outstanding, the screen is pin-sharp and responsive, phone reception has always been solid for me, and the interface is always snappy and smooth. The speaker is okay, but nothing special.

But the real star of the show is the camera - it's simply amazing, and it's very difficult to take a bad photo with it. In tough conditions, where most cameras will struggle, it doesn't even seem to try. It makes you look like a pro. And the power button double-tap shortcut to open the camera is icing on the cake - you can be ready to take photos before it's fully out of your pocket. I could rave about it for hours.

Pure android experience

published

It takes beautiful pictures and gives the user pure android experience. Absolutely love how the phone is very responsive to the users needs. Has a great texture and good grip too. The only downfall is that the I feel it's pricey. Nevertheless, You get what you pay for the quality and the experience.

Best available phone in the market

published

This phone has the best camera on the market and might only be second to google pixel 2 XL. Love the pure android experience and also it has google assistant which is way more helpful compared to SIRI. The only this that I dont really like is the size of the bezel that is very big. Those bezel spaces can be used for something else

Love it!

published

Being totally over Apple phones, this is a magnificent alternative! I don't think I could go back to Apple. Easily the quickest feeling phone I've ever had with a great camera and operating system. Feels so snappy going between menus and opening apps. Also seems to have many more customizable options than compared to an iPhone. And bloatware free!

Definitely a 1st generation smart(er)phone

published

I believe this phone was the one of the first few phones that had a strong focus on the google assistant. Best decision google has made.

Cons:
- First google phone with no headphone jack
- Still not waterproof at the time
- Large glass back, feel was terrible in the hands versus it's younger generation Nexus 6P.
- No stereo front facing speakers.

Pros:
- Started the revolution (or the focus) of AI Assistant
- Still had the silky smooth software to it

Decent phone for the price.

published

Considering the prices of more recent phones, coming up more than $1000, the Google Pixel has remarkable camera quality, as well as speed. There are a few problems with the phone though, having speaker issues, having to reboot into safe mode or reformatting the entire phone for the speakers to work. The phone's strength isn't as great as it could crack on both sides, which turns out to be really costly as most places don't offer repairs at cheap prices. The Google Pixel XL's lasted me at least 2 years now, and hasn't caused any major problems.

Great phone however doesn't hold resale value

published

Love the phone, and the camera is incredible! However, it was quickly superseded by the GS8 and then the iPhoneX. Decent battery life. Wish it were waterproof. Clean Android is a godsend, and you're guaranteed the latest software first for at least a few years after purchase. A good buy, especially with the bargains around now, but don't expect it to hold resale value like an iPhone.

Sad Google Pixel User

Sad Google Pixel Userasked

Hi all and hopefully someone at Google or Telstra,

I cracked my google XL 2 screen 4 months ago. I went to Telstra whom I purchased the phone from and was told it would cost 350 dollars to fix!! So went to other smart phone repair guys I had used back when I had an Iphone. They could not source the supplies to fix the phone! SO I went back to Telstra, who then looked into it a bit more seriously and told me it would cost 570 dollars!!!
This exorbitant price for a screen repair compared to an iphone or samsung was never flagged by Telstra. Is that an acceptable practice? Not so sure. Wonder what the community thinks. But from GOogle's perspective, how do they expect people to really adopt their produts if they don't address this issue of lack of supply and outrageous cost? If they are serious about their product development they should distribute the parts readily to make the cost of repairs drop. Because now I''ve gone back to using an old Ipone and I won't o back to their products although I was pretty happy with it before all this happened.
