Replacement Fabric Chip Catcher
What's a "Feed Ram" please
I very recently purchased a second hand Piecemaker. I dont think it had ever really been used as it was in pristine condition. The blades were not even dirty much less blunt. It starts really easily. So far I have only fed it Photinia branches. The thicker branches fed through the side shute chip really well. The smaller stuff is coming out in big long stringy pieces, eight to twelve inches long. Not mulch quality at all. Any suggestions, please?
The blades are 2 sided and can be easily turned around. I would try that as the mulcher should be pulling the material in by itself. The blades can still feel sharp when they are well used. Give it a try.
Thanks. Will do. I saw on a demo video that the material should be pulled in. That definitely doesn't happen. I have to really encourage it.
I have the same problem. I have to push branches down the shute to get it mulched.
Does anyone know if you can buy a new catcher or just the bag for the Greenfield shredder.
where can i find a service manual for my 8.5 hp Briggs and Stratton engine
I would contact B&S they should have a manual. You may have to download it

I have a 18 month old Piecemaker with 11.5hp B&S. extremely difficult to start. Heavy to pull start and will not catch. I have only used it on about 6 occasions due to the problem of starting. It is advertised as easy to start, no prime and no choke, however it seems it needs it. Does anyone else have the same issue? I am at the stage of going back to the dealer and have them resolve it. It is also a heavy pull and my wife would have no strength to get it going.
I have the 8.5 horse power version with the Briggs and Stratton motor and mine is also heavy to start. Almost to the point of needing someone to put a foot on the opposite side while I pull start. How...

Hi
A few of things. Make sure that the petrol is not old. Petrol has short life, several months then it detoriates. Poor quality petrol makes the Piecemaker hard to start.
Have it serviced. My piecemaker starts better if it has been serviced. ...

My unit has a Briggs and Straton engine 8.5hp and the drain plug is a stud at the bottom of the engine on the side directly beneath the dip stick. Underneath the petrol tank. It has a square head. I used Penrite 20w-60 Cheers Graeme

I have a Greenfields Piecemaker 10.5 Briggs & Stratton that has been sitting in a garage for over a year. I do not know how to start it. Seems the cord comes out a little and then no amount of strength will start it. Please provide step-by-step instructions.
Hello Deb, the starting instructions provided by Thayyil V below should pretty much get you there. Once these engines get up over the 8HP mark they do take a bit of pulling though, my 11.5HP unit give...
Read mores me a work out because it is usually 2 pulls to start it, my wife struggles to pull it at all. Do you know any strapping young lads who might be able to lend some weight? Having said all that, I suppose there is a chance the engine or blade support bearing is seized, not knowing anything of it's history. If you've checked there is nothing fouling the blades and it still absolutely won't turn over I would recommend a call to your nearest Greenfield dealer. I hope you get it going.Thank you, Sawin Hard. I haven't checked the blades and might be worth visit to dealer. I thought there might be a safety mechanism that had to be released prior.
Hi Deb Sorry for the delay in replying - my wife has been very ill. What Sawin suggested about the blades is a good start ie to check if any branches etc have blocked the blades. My Greenfield chi...
Read morepper is easy to open in order to check the blades - it just requires 4 wing-nut bolts to be removed. Small branches getting stuck have previously prevented me from firing up the motor. Do make sure that you follow the safety instructions when opening the machine. Good luck.Have an earlier model one with a 5 hp honda on it but finding it impossible to start. Have even tried engine start spray to no affect at all. Any suggestions? Have had honda mower (same problem wouldn't start) which is junk, so is this problem with honda motors?
At first I had trouble starting the Honda motor until a mechanic friend taught me to : 1. make sure that the fuel line is turned on 2. Wait a few minutes for the fuel to flow then 3. pull the fu...

I have a Piecemaker mulcher with Briggs & Stratton 650 engine. How to do an oil change? Is it easier to vacuum oil out via filler pipe?
While I am not familiar with the Briggs and Stratton engine most lawn mowers and Mulchers can be quickly drained via the oil filler hole.
Remove the dipstick and tip the machine on its side so the oi...
Can anyone tell me how well the Greenfield Piecemaker will chop/shread up cereal straw? It has been baled into small square bales. I am hoping to find a machine that I can feed chuks of straw into fairly quickly.
Hi
I haven't tried cereal straw but I have put in bamboo, banana tree trunks and leaves and it just mashes them! I think it would do the cereal straw very well. I suppose it depends how small you wan...
Thanks. Yes, the size of the opening would be a consideration. We are planning to try & see one before purchasing. We're not looking for really fine mulch - just chopped up smaller so it can be spr...
