Not even first tank of gas. Fail
My son did not get through the first tank of gas. Then he just stuck it in his shed. Dads a mechanic so a couple of years Had strip it all down repair motor and fix spots of rust. Runming good now. Manual needs a decent exploded view of engine and chipper. Included bolts and washer sizes.

Really good machine, solid as a rock!
I bought the biggest machine Greenfield made at the time, it was new from a dealer. Since then I've done about 60 hours with it and I really can't fault it. It gets fed on pretty much anything I can't just chop up with a shovel and stick in the compost.
I've put through iron bark branches as big as I could possibly fit through the chipper tube, fed slowly it handles it fine - branches too big in diameter I just rip in half and down they go. Softwood it just devours.
I don't use the catcher, I have a mulch pile where I let it sit for a few w...Read more
eeks to season before I use it so I just wheel the machine up to the pile and away we go, keep a shovel handy for keeping the chute clear. Greenfield say you can mulch up cardboard and paper - you can't - well at least I can't. It's not very successful but I don't really care less, I didn't buy it to chop up paper. On the maintenance side I sharpen the blades every 10 hours or so, especially in hardwood they do go off after a few hours. But the blades are simple to access and as I have a wetstone sharpener it's a simple job. Couple of little niggles, if the machine has to be opened up with a full tank of fuel, the petrol quickly starts dripping out the fuel cap, simple to drain some out if you're aware. With small twigs, the machine will chip them up until the last foot or so, then it just slices the remainder in half and spits them out. Greenfield say to feed them through a second time to chop them up but I have found I can stand there feeding them through 6 or 8 times and it makes no difference at all, they just get spat out whole. So I accept these little quirks and use the machine for what it is, I really enjoy using it... PS - Hey Greenfield, jam a V Twin 18 HP on a model and open up that chipper tube a bit, stick a second axle under it and tow it around with your ride ons. Just a thought...

Solid but not brilliant
My view is that the machine is solid and strong, but I find the shoot very hard to use, it often clogs and I can't get the branches down into the blades. I am tempted to cut a shoot into the back of the existing shoot which would make it much easier to use. My neighbour has a cheap Ryobi mulcher which gives much better access to the blades, rips through work quicker. Of course it was heaps cheaper but it just keeps on going on and he could buy many for the cost of mine. Mine is more solid and stronger and will last much longer but his purchase decision may have been better.

Some flaws but best on the market for my needs.
I bought the 11.5HP Greenfield Mulcher after my 20–year–old 8HP MTD reached its use–by date.
Advantages:
It has a catcher (easier than raking processed mulch from the lawn).
Its design is simple, with no belts, and the two cutter blades are easily accessed for sharpening and servicing.
It will handle stringy materials – there are no screens to block or hammers to tangle.
It’s easy to move around the backyard by hand because it’s well–balanced on the wheels.
Its storage footprint is small.
Problems:
Branch chute: Because of the layout o...Read more
