I have a 2010 ve commodore it has the after market alpine touch screen and the touch screen climate control, the steering wheel was working fine now none of my buttons work on the steering wheel what would cause the buttons to suddenly stop working all of a sudden

As I understand it, the steering wheel controls use a two-wire system, with each button adding a resistance to the wires. Thst means a broken wire will stop all the buttons working. If 1 button failed, then just that function wont work. But if the wire/s are broken, or a plug is diconnected, then no buttons will work.
Also, there is a "clockspring" which is a flexible circuit inside the steering column. It is there so the steering wheel controls and the airbag wiring is still connected while you turn the wheel left and right. These clocksprings do fail. Sometimes causing an air bag fail light, sometimes stopping the buttons working. Sometimes if it is the clockspring, the buttons may work with the steering wheel in a particular position. Either way, if you are experienced in car wiring, it can be a do-it-yourself job. But you are playing with the airbag and wiring, I'd be taking it to an auto electrician.

Hi I have a VE Commodore 2009 Omega I recently changed the stereo to a apple car play had it profesenly installed but I'm not to sure if this was happening on it before I had the apple car play put in but when I turn my key on to accessories my parkers & tail lights come on I turn the light nob to the left it springs back like it always has hoping the will go off but they don't is this normal or is there something wired wrong or faulty switch or something else does anybody know if this is a standard feature with the VE 2009 Omega Wagon

I put fuel in my car tighten the cap then took off yes wheel spin in wet then a loud pop through the exchust pipe then engine light came on why ?? And my screen is dull and you cant see it a d thats also when u reverse as well and my parking assit not working as well it tells me it needs a service and my car as only done 28562 ks and sorry its a my 16 ssv commodore

Are timing chains still an issue in the sv6 my17 series 2 sedans? As mine arrives next week. It has only done 34,000 km. And how much do they cost currently to repair if need be?

Cost depends on who does the job Holden dealers. Lube mobile. My car ( kmart tyre & auto) ultra tune. will charge 10 times more than a local independent mechanic Yes timing chains are still an issue some are failing at 50,000 km

Occasionally If I do a long trip on a hot day the fuel gauge stops working. The next day after a trip the fuel gauge works normally. Holden put the scanner on the car and the gauge corrected itself. can you please provide a possible explanation or is this a known problem. My car is a 2014 SV6 with only 70,000 kilometres.

So I have a ve omega 08 model.
Today as I was driving the alternator warning come up on the dash followed by a battery warning msg. Soon after the dash lost all power and the radio went off the aircon went off but the car was running fine.
Pulled over and turned the car off and now won't start..
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance

Most likely the alternator belt has come off or broken. Car ran for a while on the battery alone, then shut down what isn't necessary. Once you shut the engine off, there was not enough battery charge to start it.
Now, does it crank? (I guess not).
I assume you are not still on the roadside broken down? If so, call NRMA or RAC or whoever.
Get a jump start from another battery or car or jump starter. Once it starts, check the dash for the battery light.
You will need to drive to the nearest garage, auto electrician of maybe Kmart auto. Any of these can check the belts, battery and alternator.

Best place to find out would be the "justcommodores" forum. Tons of usefull info there and some of the members are ZB fans.
Remember ZB Commodores are front wheel drive (or 4WD in some up-spec models) so the wheels, while the PCD (or stud spacing) may be compatible) the offset will be different.
Also, most front wheel drive cars have similar PCD and offsets, so another brand my well suit.

Hi Mick, I read that you're having problems with your Holden Commodore VZ particularly with the "low idle, stall" which could likely be a computer problem (mix up) after you've "changed the battery", (I'm wondering if your vehicle is coded with a 4 digit number? and is the main centre screen on dash showing any message asking for the code?) Or it could be your computer may need to be remapped (tune) and if you've tried that and it hasn't worked, maybe your car needs to "relearn the idle"and best advice is to take it to a trusted Holden dealer.
