I love it
I bought a second hand car Honda Civic last year because I had this car before and it never fails me. I like the look and also the digital dashboard and cruise control. It is good for someone that know less about car like me because it requires less maintenance and really reliable. Performance is very good. Haven't had any major issue since I bought it.

9 years and going strong
I've had this car since 2008 and it has never failed me. The handling is amazing (coming off a 4wd back to civic) it feels very zippy. Engine noise is quiet and I do love the digital display on speed rather than old fashioned analogue style. The Sports has paddle shifts which is useful when overtaking or just if you feel like taking more control of the car through tighter roads.
The front has plenty of room, the back I haven't had much complaints either.
It can get some time to get used to being such a flat car, the A-pillar can seem to get in the way at time but you'd get used to it.

Love my car.
I love my car, I can't think of any cons except that the high beams are easy to accidentally turn on. I like the large digital speed dial and the car's feeling of safety. I like the shape & looks. Haven't had any problems with it at all in the year since I bought it.

Nice car for a small family
Bought a second hand Honda civic a year ago and it's way better than the previous ones I have had over the years. Gives a mileage of 8L for 100 kms, but the pick up over the hills is not so great.
Still loving it for within city use, but for long trips even though efficiency of fuel usage is great, still the pickup would be lacking.

Type R
Very happy after a year of ownership. Have owned a number of hot hatches and have really enjoyed owning the Civic Type R. Very easy to home service, engine /gearbox oil change were very easy on this car. No problems or faults at all after 12 months of ownership. My only complaint would be that the perspex plastic on over the gauge cluster on the dash is very easily scratched/marked.

Reliable
Still looks the part despite having been an 8th Gen.
Economical to run and easy to use around town.
Cheap to maintain.
Great overall car for around town and heading out of town.
Hardly uses any petrol once it's in 5th gear or on the open roads.
Recommend to anyone.

Purchased a used import with ~65K on the clock. Had basic mods. Nothing too much. Handled like it was on rails. Good size hatch back. For a basic car, the oil filter is a struggle to get to. The lambda sensor went at about 70K - not a cheap fix. Had issues with it running rough, as if it was no 3 cycinders, each time there was heavy rain. Took it to a specialist Honda tuner, they couldn't figure it out. On average 10L/100km of 98RON with about 50:50 motorway and city driving. A bit more than expected for a car this size. Overall good car. But as with any performance vehicle, they do cost a bit more to run and maintain. Well worth the fun factor though. September 27th 2022 Update: Reliable and economical Very reliable . Looks nice. Economical. Mileage stretches even further once you hit the open roads. Economical to maintain etc. Would definitely recommend this vehicle. Sold it when it has ~100,000km. But plenty of life left in it yet.Purchased in January 2021.

Great reliable car!
Honda Civic 2011 base model, Vti; is a perfectly sensible and a practical car. It's not exactly quick, nor has it got torque to pull a boat. But if you want a car that starts every time you hit the wheel, and keeps driving you comfortably and reliably to work and other places, at a reasonable price point and relatively economically can't go past this one.
Descent space to accomodate 4 adults and average luggage, or a family with two or three young children in the back. The seats are comfortable, ride is reasonably smooth, but misses on the ...Read more
rear vents. The drive is not for a car enthusiast, but certainly the engine has enough grunt and delivers smothly over a wide range without hesitation. After driving the corolla which seemed to have marginally better low range torque, but flatter response at higher end; I feel that the Honda delivers the torque so much better and smoother over a wider range from around 1500 rpm till around 5000 rpm seamlessly. I opted for manual as i think the manual gear box helps me make the most out of the engine compared to the auto. The steering in my view is far superior to the corolla. Body roll over is so much less than the corolla, but Not as stiff as Mazda 3 ( latter has a slightly more powerful engine in its 2.4 L and 2.0 L forms). I feel it ihits the sweet spot between comfort vs sportiness, but that is subjective. Cabin ambience is the same. I like it, but it's busy... I like the digital speedometer, it's easier! Cabin noise is not impressive. Corolla wins here hands down. ( toyotas certainly spend on insulation !)Honda could do lot better in this compartment. Exterior views are subjective. In my view it looks good. Balance of conservation and novelty. Base model misses out on alloys and fog lamps.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good solid reliable car
Owned the Honda from new and just sold it with 105,000 on it. Only issue in the 9 years was an air conditioning relay failure that cost $45. Servicing was very cheap, didn't even need brake pads replacing in that time. It was due for a plug change which is a bit of a task on the 2l as some bits and pieces need to be removed to get access. Was great on fuel.
Air conditioning was good and cold, however the climate air was a bit primitive. If set to a high temperature (ie in winter) it would just blow cold air until the car warmed up. My Mazda do...Read more

Not a bad little car
I bought a brand new Honda Civic VTI, 1.8Lt, automatic from a Honda dealer in Brisbane. The car has always been serviced on time as per log book and just recently done 104,000 km. Original Dunlop Sport tires lasted about 60,000 before it was changed. My first problem with the car was when the speedometer hit 104,000 and cracked engine mount. Repair cost $550 for FRH side mount. Other than that no issues so far.
NEGATIVES
* The car weights about 1.4 tons and not enough engine power.
* Ever since I bought the car, both rear tries press...Read more
ure goes down from 35 psi to 25 psi after a week driving about 100km. Swapping tires never worked. Front tires are 36 psi and even after driving 1000kms, pressure goes down to about 34 psi. This is really annoying. * Not an economical car for a small 1.8 litre engine. City driving 10 litters per 100 km or about 350 km full tank city driving. RON 95 petrol would stretch to 450 km on a freeway driving.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I would not purchase another Honda
I find my 2009 Honda Civic Sedan handles poorly on roundabouts, etc. The rear boot is to narrow, but I new this when I purchased the car (my fault). I find I have to take a wide approach to get the vehicle properly positioned when parking at shopping center and other similar parking spots. I often have difficulty getting second gear to select immediately, regardless of speed and other factors. Air conditioning not quiet up to standard. I have employed businesses other than Honda to service my vehicle as Honda was far to expensive.

Excellent Sedan, Ticks Most Of The Boxes.
Bought this vehicle form Formula Honda December 2012, I was amazed at the room and finish of the car, awesome dash layout and seating is ideal, with good visibility except the A pillar is a little wide can obscure a vehicle from your vision while approaching a roundabout. I get about 7.8 litres per 100 kms on average which is mostly in suburbs. The only thing really negative I have had with this vehicle is premature rear tyre wear, they can get cupped and end up looking like a 50 cent piece which causes some awful noise sounding like the wheel bearings are worn out. Easy to prevent this by regular tyre rotation.

Still in Love With My 2008 Civic
I bought my Honda Civic brand new in August 2008 and am still in love with it 7 years later.
This great car has driven between Melbourne and Brisbane a few times plus the daily grind to and from work, I've found it especially good for work as I often need to park in the city and it's a good size to easily park.
I usually sit in the driver's seat which I find very comfortable, but even when I've sat in any of the other seats I've found them just as comfortable. I can comfortably fit 5 adults inside without anyone being squished.

windscreen is great and allows for good visibility, aided by the the wipers that move in a different way to regular wipers (they really clean the whole drivers section). The speedometer clearly shows up in a pretty blue display high on the dash so you barely need to move your eyes to see it, my only complaint about this is that everyone else in the car can also see your speed which leads to back-seat driver comments. In the 7 years I've owned this car the only problem I have had was the air conditioner compressor needing replacement last year and the back windscreen beginning to de-laminate this year.Similar opinion? Good Fuel Saver
It's a good drive. Great on fuel and safety. Has a decent ancap rating. Makes a bit of noise while driving, small engine so obviously not the best in performance but great for city driving. Legroom is slightly small. 2010 Honda Civic limited edition is nice, comfortable and a decent ride.

Best Car we have owned
This would have to be one of the best car I have owned, and I have had many.
I purchased my Honda Civic SI hatch for my wife and I love driving it. This car has too many features to mention. The leather seating is luxurious and having them heated is a treat for those winter months. The seating position is spot on, and as my wife is short she can comfortably adjust the seating position for herself. The rear magic seats are just that. They flip and fold into so many positions. We lift up one seat in the back for the dog to sit in. The dog sits o...Read more

Hate my 2010 Honda Civic limited edition
Bought my Honda Civic Limited Edition brand new in 2010. The breaks screeched from day one. I was told new break pads do that by the dealership. The ABS sucks. When breaking going over a slight bump, the car losses control. Mentioned it to Honda dealership and was told ABS isn't great. Anyone else with these issues?

Great (with minor reservation)
I bought my Honda Civic Si Hatch in Sept 2011, a 5 speed auto, and have been extremely happy with it's performance to date. My wife is the usual driver and says she loves it but at 35000kms she came home and told me the brakes were making a squealing sound. After investigation and returning to my Honda dealer I was advised that the rear brake pads needed replacing, something that is usual for the Hatch models. I was also advised that I should get a fair bit more from the front pads. However, I was also told that this situation is unique to the ...Read more
Hatch models whereas the Sedan models get much more from the pads. Disappointingly I had to fork out $210 for new pads & fitting. Apart from one other issue which was fixed by the dealer at no cost (slight oil leak at the back of the engine) I can't really fault the vehicles performance, fuel economy and ride. Tyres have some mileage left in them at 38000kms so I would expect to replace them around 45000kms-.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Can't live without this car.
I've driven the following: 2006 Lexus IS250, 1996 Turbo Toyota Supra, 2012 Honda Accord Euro and finally a 2007 Honda Civic Type R.
So I guess you could say I've experienced the luxury smooth rides, to the noisy fast loud rides, to the family orientated ride. And out of all these cars I must say, the Honda Civic Type R is a winner by a milestone.
Now to start off, what do people look briefly into a car?
1. Reliability. A lot of cars these days can be packed with so much power easily, but what is the point if there is no reliability?...Read more
I've driven the Turbo supra (88XXX kms) which was much faster in a straight line then the Type R, however I found my self constantly fixing things, replacing things, buying things until I just got sick of it and wanted a car that would not give me any drama. The Type R, has done 110XXX km's on it, with aggressive driving too, just had my big major service check and the car is in mint condition. Now of course, I can't be so quick to judge, however joining the Type R forums, meeting other peoples Type R's you follow the trend that everyone else has had no reliability issues with there Type R. A 2.0L naturally aspirated engine, need I say more? 2. Power. Now a lot of people avoid the Type R because they feel it does not have enough power.. Now, the Type R comes stock 0-100 in 6.6 seconds, which is more then enough to put a smile on most peoples faces however, power isn't the only important thing on a car, people do tend to forget about suspension, chasis structure, brake system, reliability, handling, suspension etc.. There was a Type R that pulled a time with 1.14 at Wakefield raceway track with just simple bolt on mods, which has beat the time of a lot of turbo'd cars. People can talk a lot of smack about anything, but what I believe is facts and statistics not biased opinions and thats more then enough proof for a 2L n/a engine, imagine it had more work done !?Similar opinion? Economical but need more effort to drive economically
I first owned 2006 model and recently upgraded to 2010 model. I am in overall pleased with my Civic hybrid because it gives the nice style that Prius doesn't (looks better with mags and windows tinted) and it's still very economical.
But I partially agree that their claimed fuel consumption is far from the reality especially after vehicle ages 4 years and travelled high milegage. I would say the realistic fuel consumption is 5.2-5.5L per 100Km (highway/urban combined) and there is a bit of learning curve as to finding out how you can take ad...Read more

I think the Honda Civic is an excellent purchase from 2006 on, very comfortable seats and ride, economical, proven engine and transmission, modern dash layout, test drive and you will buy this over other comparable vehicles.

Has anyone heard intermittent weird noises whilst driving their Civic?
3 answers
How bad is the noise? It could be a number of reasons but do not forget with the age of the vehicle these noises will emerge.
Is it like an intermittent low grinding that only lasts for a few seconds particularly when you’re either idling, about to take off from a red light or reversing down your driveway on a cold morning? That goes away once your car warms up and/or you accelerate? If yes and you’ve got an 8th gen Civic then you’ve got broken engine mounts - particularly the lower right hand mount. Google it, I’ve had about 5 now replaced and still they break, so have by the looks of what’s on google every single 2006-2010 civic owner worldwide. It’s a known design flaw, but don’t bother going to Honda to get it fixed they’ll just tell you you need it replaced but when you go back and back to them saying ummm it’s broken AGAIN and this are your hideously expensive $600 a pop OEM parts you’re gouging me for they’ll just pretend they don’t know why but due to the age of the vehicle its not covered under warranty...interesting how they can still claim that given there’s thousands upon thousands of owners reporting the same fault, I guess it’s all only “anecdotal” however, if the manufacturer doesn’t admit there’s a manufacturing flaw or compelled to provide transparent reporting of data about what problems a specific model and year vehicle is consistently presenting to their service centres then what do you do? Oh...if you were thinking hey maybe I’ll just get a non-OEM but compatible engine mount and fit that that should fix it, with any other part I’d say yeah go for it but not the engine mounts, fit a non-genuine Honda one of these you may find yourself with a bigger issue than just some cracked mounts
Also have the same engine mount issue. (Done 170Kms, Civic VTI-L 1.8 Sedan Manual) 2nd time its happen, but this time is not vibrating the whole interior when cold like it did before. But Honda dealer still says i need it replaced again. But it doesnt vibrate so i didnt bother. Got even bigger problems now though. Cant get it any gear while engine is running. It goes in gear when engine is off, and when i try to start it with it in gear and clutch all the way in, it tries to pull forward. So i think the clutch isnt disengaging when i push the clutch in. And also power steering fluid is leaking. Been leaking for last 6months. Just been topping it off. I think its just a worn O-ring, but still another headache to worry about. Not sure if its even worth fixing at this point. Cost to repair is probably gonna exceed the value of the car...

Our honda 2007 civic's paint is failing in multiple places on the bonnet, roof & a few minor patches on other panels . After reading the usa forums where various models have been recalled for similar problems, i believe it to be a clear coat failure . Our car is always garaged & well maintained . A nice care with a very very poor paont job . Anyone else experienced similar ??

My 2008 Civic has never been garaged and it's paint is still good. Perhaps they changed the formula for mine or yours was a unique case?? Either way I'm not sure if you can do anything about it now, I think paint warranties are very short.
Its unfortunate, because its turned me off buying another honda thats for sure .
