Honda Civic 2009 (fully loaded) is the first car I bought and it will remain the last :) I just love this car and my friends have bought other cars from the same size but really they can't compete with its strength and luxurious yet sportive design.
It’s really an awesome car, good fuel consumption. Still strong while turning the AC on and climbing up the hill. Great design interior and exterior, very nice headlights (mine is 2009).
A bit expensive but I guess it is worth it. It has a minimum rotation radius which make me stuck in tight locations.

A classy car that draws attention when you drive by, it looks sophisticated and feels smooth when you drive.
A high performance car, with an engine that revs and roars when driving.
The Honda Civic GLi sedan has design that makes it stand out in a crowd, its engine is powerful making for a noticeable experience and the interior of the car is superb.
Changing gears can make a jerky motion, which can be discomforting for new drivers.
It has lots of features - power windows, high security stereo, immobiliser, etc...
A great car that makes you feel good when you drive it!
Attractive looks, beautiful design, smooth ride
Car jerks when shifting gears

OK
The good aspects of the car has been overshadowed by ongoing problems with fuel electronics. Unable to solve 'pinging', lack of power at low revs and hesitation
Value for money, spacious, quiet, good ergonomics and build quality in general
Poor electronic fuel system, noisy aircon compressor, very poor quality carpets, wind noise on mirror, soft plastic finish on door pillar gets damaged by seatbelt buckle

This is the best car I've ever had. It'd reliable and good on fuel and it looks fantastic. Much better than the Mazda 3 in my opinion.
Good on petrol, stylish, powerful, good price, excellent re sale
No boot button. Have to insert the key from the outside

I have had my Honda Civic VTi-L since July 2006 and am very happy that i bought the car. I had considered all the other cars in the class (Mazda3, Corolla, Focus, Astra, Peugeot 308, Subaru Impreza, Volkswagen Golf, etc) and done all my research and test drives - I was going to buy a Mazda 3 - BUT it only took one drive in the Civic for me to feel like I had found 'the right car'. It has everything i want in a car without any compromises at all - by comparison no other car (except BMW 3 $erie$) feels so great. It is excellent value for money wi...Read more
th climate and cruise control, alloys, 6 stacker cd, fog lights extra airbags and all the other standard stuff. The competing Mazda dealer tried to bag the Civic because it's made in Thailand - but Hondas have been made there since the 90's in one of the biggest and best manufacturing plants in the world. (Just remember - Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, Toyota corolla, BMW's and even Mercedes are all built in South Africa - but funny enough none of the dealers will tell you that!). I have had a couple of niggling problems - dash 'boomerang' needed replacing because it poked out a little bit, this year my drivers window wouldn't close on occasion and I had a creak in my suspension - but all were fixed straight away with no questions. I highly recommend the car if you are looking for one in this size/class - best car I have ever had :) Looks great. Fuel economy excellent. Acceleration excellent (after initial lag). Digital speedo fantastic (never going back to old style speedo!). Huge interior. Large size boot. Lots of interior storage space. Braking system very effective. Excellent ride quality. Easy to park. Interior fabric a bit dull, but excellent in terms of keeping it clean. Full sized spare alloy wheel - none of this tiny yellow wheel crap! A couple of minor things: Cheap carpet (goes fluffy after a bit of wear - get some floor mats!). Wipers have random 'farting' episodes in light rain - but are silent most of the time. The plastic that covers the inside of the B pillar gets little 'nicks' in it from the seatbelt if u release it too quickly and it hits the plastic. Aircon could be more powerful - in 40+ degree heat its not really cool until you drive for about 20mins. When aircon compressor switches on the headlights dull slightly for half a second.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The car has sporty looks and very smooth to drive. However, I have minor problems with the front door, as it need to be slammed hard to close properly. The dealer told me its due to the air trapped inside the car (apparently they said if we open the window, it is easier to close the door). At the beginning, the car also sometimes give the funny rattling sounds every time we make a turning, but after the first service, it doesn't have funny sounds anymore. Sounds normal. Anyway apart from those, I still satisfy with the performance of this car....Read more
Looks sporty and stylish, fuel economy and not too pricey. The frame seems a bit low. I am not a tall person, but sometimes I knock myself on the door frame to get out from the car. The front passenger door also seems to have problems on closing properly. Need to make sure to close it hard.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Deserve to buy comparing Mazad 3 etc. Since I almost buy a M3. Hesitation to accelerate is another problem but after that it is pretty powerful.
Cheap for quality, design is very stylish, long distance driving only needs around 6L/100km.
Screen Wiper got problem very noisy after only half year and has to be replaced with a pair of new ones, seems good now but may have same problem later. Honda serveice said it is because of dirt, this is not acceptable as my parking condition not changed. No boot remote, not very convenient.

For an average sized person the Civic is very roomy & travels well on long trips. Full sized spare tyre certainly a plus for someone who travels & finds themselves a long distance from major cities.
Everything is great, but mainly the comfort & fuel economy.
Boot doesn't have remote opening, the only minor fault.

This is a car you have to buy as you will save hundreds on fuel economy and this car is very environmentally friendly for all you tree lovers.
With the latest hybrid engine this car save you a lot on your petrol and it is environmentally good for the environment. It is cheap for the hybrid series. This has good performance, climate control and it has nice comfort. It also has front, side and curtain bags.
This car could be a little bit more stylish and for the price of this car it would be great if you get a GPS system included.

Would love it more if the niggly problems above had not happened, had intended to keep the car for 5 to 10 years but due to the rust and a new rumbling noise from rear of car (suspect wheel bearing) will be selling soon.
2.0l with sports suspension, handles very well, accelerates well too. Styling, love the dash. Sunroof can't go back to a solid roof now.
CD player and drivers electric window have had to be replaced (warranty) but that requires 3 extra visits to Honda. Paint peeling off all 4 wishbones and rusting, Honda think thats not a probl...Read more

My Corolla got smashed so bought this for about 1.5 months. At first there was a little problem because after 2 days it made this strange sound every time I change gear or accelerate slowly. Brought it back to Honda service and it was the timing belt. But it's been ok ever since. However, I found it a bit odd that the driver seat doesn't have a pocket at the back, only passenger side does. When I first got the car I couldn't get used to the fact that it was almost impossible to see the front of the car but after a while you should get used to i...Read more
t. Having cruise control is great, nice interior and good shape. I find it a bit better and classy than my old Corolla. I didn't like the fabric they used for the seat so I got it replaced with leather (I got the VTi base model) and it feels really comfortable. Most of everything about this car No pocket seat on driver side, bonnet a bit hard to see at first, no alert if passenger doesn't wear seat belt, cheap interior fabricSimilar opinion? New cars have come a long way to pack more standard and luxuries into the same price bracket as other cars years ago. The interior is gorgeous, the dash is just out of this world. Family and friends say a spaceship would probably feel like this! The brushed aluminum give the interior a luxury feel (ie doesn't make it look cheap) and the seats are comfy and good material, so much so that I bought seat covers just so that i protect it for as long as possible. Cruise control is good, but it lags when you trying it tries to change gears. Handy litt...Read more

No wonder the civic is the only Honda car that they don't offer extended free warranty cos this car is already so reliable that its so popular that they cant keep up with demand of supply. everyone is buying them and so they should! I have the base VTi model and am extremely happy with it. I really enjoy driving this car. Honda, in general, are very customer service focused so I've always had great service when I've dealt with them. I also found the sales people to be laid back and not pushy. Can't recommend this car more.
Fuel economy, electronic speedo & guages at eye level, cruise control, short gear shifter, blue light up dash, centre console which pulls out to a comfy armrest and more generally the look of the exterior and interior.
Noisy windscreen wipers

As an all round package this is a great car for city and highway. It has good competition but I found it the best pick for interior space, quality, fuel economy and I expect reliability. Great value for money in Australia.
I agree with the above people. The economy is outstanding for the size of car - it's easy to get better than 7 lit/100km.You can set your preferred perfect driving position with feet wide apart, steering wheel adjustable up/down and close/far and seat height adjustable. Have just swapped over from a Toyota Corolla (2000) to a 2007 Civic VTi-L. Almost impossible to fault the car except being unable to see the front edge of the bonnet, it is difficult to judge exactly where the car is in relation to other cars etc.
Quality control, power, smooth auto trans, economy, interior layout and space.

I would give it a 4.5 outa 5, it's almost perfect. Although performance can be upgraded slightly and better add ons would be much appreciated. The closest rival would probably be Mazda 3 in its class.
The interior design is simply fantastic, whoever designed that should be praised, considering it's a lot better than the older model Civic designs. The car is 1.8L but the size and shape of it makes it look more like 2.2L. The exterior looks very well build and has that sporty feel to it.
The digital speedo isn't as pleasant as the original one, e...Read more

It is a medium sized car with great fuel economy and styling. I have heard some people having issues with the windows going up and down but I havent experienced anything. I would recommend anyone to buy this car. Honda make awesome motor cars, if only they could translate that to F1!

No boot release on the key ring, big issue!

Drove out of town recently and found the bowser to bowser consumption is at 5.8L/100km! With a 50 liters tank, it could theoretically do 840km on a tank! Might have gotten even better mileage if I stuck around 90km/hr. Impressive braking system save those wild rabbits jumping out in front of the car. Numerous convenient bins and storage compartments proves handy on long trip.
Styling, spacious & quite interior, great fuel economy, strong brake, clever packaging.
Feels under power while accelerating from stand still - cons of over gearing to achieve better fuel economy

Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy this Honda Civic model and was wondering if anyone knows if the 2011 model has this engine mount problems that the older models are having?

Has anyone heard intermittent weird noises whilst driving their Civic?
3 answers
How bad is the noise? It could be a number of reasons but do not forget with the age of the vehicle these noises will emerge.
Is it like an intermittent low grinding that only lasts for a few seconds particularly when you’re either idling, about to take off from a red light or reversing down your driveway on a cold morning? That goes away once your car warms up and/or you accelerate? If yes and you’ve got an 8th gen Civic then you’ve got broken engine mounts - particularly the lower right hand mount. Google it, I’ve had about 5 now replaced and still they break, so have by the looks of what’s on google every single 2006-2010 civic owner worldwide. It’s a known design flaw, but don’t bother going to Honda to get it fixed they’ll just tell you you need it replaced but when you go back and back to them saying ummm it’s broken AGAIN and this are your hideously expensive $600 a pop OEM parts you’re gouging me for they’ll just pretend they don’t know why but due to the age of the vehicle its not covered under warranty...interesting how they can still claim that given there’s thousands upon thousands of owners reporting the same fault, I guess it’s all only “anecdotal” however, if the manufacturer doesn’t admit there’s a manufacturing flaw or compelled to provide transparent reporting of data about what problems a specific model and year vehicle is consistently presenting to their service centres then what do you do? Oh...if you were thinking hey maybe I’ll just get a non-OEM but compatible engine mount and fit that that should fix it, with any other part I’d say yeah go for it but not the engine mounts, fit a non-genuine Honda one of these you may find yourself with a bigger issue than just some cracked mounts
Also have the same engine mount issue. (Done 170Kms, Civic VTI-L 1.8 Sedan Manual) 2nd time its happen, but this time is not vibrating the whole interior when cold like it did before. But Honda dealer still says i need it replaced again. But it doesnt vibrate so i didnt bother. Got even bigger problems now though. Cant get it any gear while engine is running. It goes in gear when engine is off, and when i try to start it with it in gear and clutch all the way in, it tries to pull forward. So i think the clutch isnt disengaging when i push the clutch in. And also power steering fluid is leaking. Been leaking for last 6months. Just been topping it off. I think its just a worn O-ring, but still another headache to worry about. Not sure if its even worth fixing at this point. Cost to repair is probably gonna exceed the value of the car...

Our honda 2007 civic's paint is failing in multiple places on the bonnet, roof & a few minor patches on other panels . After reading the usa forums where various models have been recalled for similar problems, i believe it to be a clear coat failure . Our car is always garaged & well maintained . A nice care with a very very poor paont job . Anyone else experienced similar ??

My 2008 Civic has never been garaged and it's paint is still good. Perhaps they changed the formula for mine or yours was a unique case?? Either way I'm not sure if you can do anything about it now, I think paint warranties are very short.
Its unfortunate, because its turned me off buying another honda thats for sure .
