Car in the family, occasional driver to the car, owner of a mini, the type R gives a classic example of a japanese car when compared to the Cooper S. Looks good on the outside, good on the inside (esp. driver's side) until you see the central control, not even able to swap (unless if you are willing to pay for a customised one) to a high end aftermarket deck due to the design of the car. Best v-tec I have driven, reasonably torque even on low end, explosive on the high revs. Loved the Honda seats, comfy and plenty of support. One thing I find i...Read more
t annoying when parking, never able to see how much gap you have as the bonnet slants down. - looks great- much improved vtec, reasonably well for low revs- comfy seats (who cares about if it's recaro or not)- explosive @ 7,000rpm - why not the sexy center console offered in the UK domestic model, the AU vesion looks cheap, personally would think the UK ver. console worth 2k more- not metal enough as per jap car, door handle feels like cheap plasticSimilar opinion? Honda has put together a fantastic package. I love everything about it! With low profile 18" tyres and super sporty suspension that controls it's torque steer it has a reasonably smooth ride! The seats are REALLY comfy with racing seat look. Heaps of room in the back seat (only made for two in the back) with a surprising amount of legroom for 2 large adults! Fuel economy great for amount of power it puts out - and sounds fantastic!! The steering / handling still blows me away - even after 18 months and 25,000kms! After 3 Hondas I wouldn't have ANY other branded car for a daily driver.
Awesome performance & handles unlike any car I've driven
The ONLY thing I an dislike is the indicator on the left - but east to get used to!

I have owned this car for 10 months, and have done 30000kms in it. I drive A LOT for work. It still feels like it did at new. Gears are still tight. Ride is still taught. There are no rattles. Not a single problem with it. Fuel economy is brilliant. It handles like a dream. The fun is in the high rev driving, if you can get away with it. The perfect drivers car!!! Yay for Honda... How can you better this!!???
What a brilliant car to own and drive... I like nearly all of it
$500 to get an iPod connection. No bonnet protector available.

Very dissapointed
Noticed from new on the highway above 80 kph, car has what feels like a surge, like some one kicks you under the seat. Has been back to Honda numerous times to fix the problem. Have had the egr valve, the torque converter and the ECU replaced with no difference. Got a person from Honda Australia to drive car for three days and this is their latest theory. This characteristic (?) is caused by after fuel cut and injector shut down, fuel is forced into cylinder, and throttle trying to catch up after ECU has taken over control of throttle - drive b...Read more
y wire. Road tested 3 other Civics and found all have same characteristic? I was a motor mechanic for 22 years and this car is not supposed to do what it does. What are you supposed to do when Honda says it is a characteristic? See above. Also several serious rattles had to be fixed.also car wants to go left. Expensive services1 comment

Zippy performance, Petrol miser, Easy to park, FWD fun, Reliable since day one.
I bought this car brand new in 2010. Since then, I've driven it for 13,000 kms.
It's given my hassle free reliable riding since day one.
The boot space is the biggest I've ever had out of all of my cars (I've owned 9 different cars before).
Really cheap on fuel. $20 would last me a weeks worth of daily driving.
The car handles really well and brakes are great.

Bad
I owned this car for barely 2 years before I had to get rid of it. Straight out of the showroom, the driver's door wouldn't close properly; you had to slam it very hard to get it to shut. Also the fabric liner on the underside of the boot lid was missing.
The first major thing to go wrong was that the front-right engine mount had FAILED, causing the engine to rattle around in the engine bay. A new part had to be ordered in from overseas.
The car also developed several rattles, eventually they became so annoying I argued with Honda until t...Read more
hey were checked out, and one of them was caused by a LOOSE PASSENGER'S FRONT AIRBAG! Imagine if I had an accident??? Over the course of ownership, the exhaust finishers had fallen off the car and onto the road a total of 3 times. Honda said they "fixed" it with new stronger bolts, but they just fell off again. Later on, the front door window seals failed and were replaced. Also one of the ventilation controls came apart by itself and was replaced. Some rattles eventuated from the passenger's seat which had to be replaced twice.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love it so far!
So far so good, bought it because it would fit my husbands road bike easily - has magic seats like the Jazz, so we call it the tardis - far more space than it looks. Drives like a dream, corners beautifully. Is very light on petrol. Looks great.
After a few months we can't believe how good it is. Will see as time goes on.
Looks great, drives well, fits everything in!
The only cons are - no rear wiper and split rear windscreen - both of which haven't caused a problem. It is also annoying having indicators are on the left - keep turning on the wipers.

cal solutions unheard of before and the comfort is just lovely. Rear doors open to 90degrees which is handy for loading child seats, and the styling really does turn heads. The 1.8 litre engine is a frugal whizz that can boogie when overtaking on the highway, but the cruise control can tend to 'hunt' for a gear that resides between the standard 5 offered, in an attempt to maintain the speed. All said and done - a great vehicle that has higher build qualities than its opponents and will not dissappoint most people.Any of you got an civic hatch 2012 or 2013 vti-s? I am wondering how much is the fog light for the civic. I have bought the basic model which doesn't come with the fog light . looking to purchase one.
Still love it!

I bought this car second hand about 7 months ago with 10300km on the clock. It is a 2006 VTi. What a gem of a car! I was originally looking at Tiida and Corolla but spied this in a Toyota dealers yard and loved it from the minute I saw it. The car is comfortable, and all controls are easily reached. The dash is fantastic, I don't need my glasses to read the speedo! I am regularly getting between 13.5km and 15km to the litre. Astounding. I had issues initially with intrusive tyre noise, I put down to the Dunlop tyres. Since fitted alloy wheels, ...Read more
problem solved. The rearward vision is really bad, due to the huge sloping C pillars. Thankfully the panoramic mirrors help here. I drive for a living, and drive by mirrors. I note people on this site complaining of frontal vision. Yes, I have that too, but then I could not see the front of my 94 Falcon either. Nor my 63 Beetle and my current work drive, a 04 Transit. Not an issue to me. I am in awe of this car, my first Honda, and will probably not be my last. Just wish I could put my BBQ gas bottle in the boot and be able to close it. Fuel economy, stylish looks, futuristic dash. Woeful rearward vision, shallow boot.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic car.
It was my first new car in about 11 years, taffeta white, ordered darkest legal tint windows, has grey dash and upholstery. 100% reliable, lovely to look at and to drive (city or country), 6 CD stacker, alloy wheels, great little vehicle. Six air bags and stability control system appealed. SCS has kicked in once when I had to swerve into the emergency lane so safe car. Adore it. Services surprisingly inexpensive because nothing much goes wrong!

We purchased the Limited Edition Civic, For a bit extra money it came with rear parking sensors, alloys, blue tooth, fog lights, chrome exhaust and car mats. I thought this made it quite a good deal. I think it accelerates and performs well for a 1.8L engine and is one of the more economical cars in it's class. It's nice to see that Honda is listening to feedback and has improved little annoyances such as now having a button on the remote to open the boot.
Drives and handles well. Safety now includes side curtain airbags and VSA. Good fuel econ...Read more

Reliable and excellent performer. Cheap to run, smaller to park in the tight spaces AND has enough room for the family. We love our Civic, it's been an excellent purchase.
The car is great on fuel efficiency and even fits my 3 baby carseats in the backseat! (2007 5 door model) (Despite being informed by Honda that I'd probably have to upgrade to an Odyssey to achieve that feat.)
When we go on large trips, the boot space obviously doesn't cater for a pram as well as luggage, but we think the roof racks and pod should fix that in the future.

I have owned more than 40 vehicles of all types over the last 45 years. This has been one of the better ones [2007 VTIL]. Would still own it if not for the above mentioned passenger seat problem.
Reasonably smooth ride and comfort. Good 5 speed auto. Quite good fuel consumption.
Have not noticed anyone mention that the passenger seat does not go back far enough for tall people. Not very good on a long trip. Interior fit and finish only fair.

We have had our Civic for just over 2 years & just gone over 40,000 klms we have had no issues with the vehicle. We decided when we purchased the vehicle to have some of the extras added, window tinting, interior protection, paint & enviroshield, reversing sensors along with the Bass Works sound system (got to have quality sounds). People who have travelled in our car have commented on the appearance, quality, performance & quietness of the Civic. Friends of ours have even purchased their Civic, because they were impressed with ours.

What a dream this car was. Apart from being a little small for my large frame, I absolutely love this car. My wife and I tested all the cars in the small/medium section, and the Civic VTi-L came up trumps on all of them.
Smooth and very fuel efficient. Great cruise.
Acceleration a little sluggy when air con on.

A great car which is a delight to drive. I have already done 60000KM without any faults whatsoever. The car is value for money, better than all in its medium car price range. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
A fantastic ride smooth and very fuel efficient
Only minor fault is no boot release on key VTI L model

I really enjoy driving my Honda Civic Sport... It is a fantastic drive & remains quite comfortable for long trips - have done several 7 hours drives & has been a delight... It is very economical & nothing has gone wrong with it so far! Climate control works a treat - I find that I will get cold in my car on a very hot day. I'd like there to be a boot release on the key - not essential though I'm just getting too lazy! I couldn't possible go back to the old speedo & it makes it harder to speed especially when your passengers can see exactly how...Read more
fast you are going. You always have full control over the car at all times and is very easy to park - totally recommend the parking sensors, great investment! So overall, the car has been the best I've had so far & well worth the money... I would only suggest those to re-consider if you have a young family who needs baby seats and lugging lots of big things around all the time! I think Honda should design a kid's car seat that fits snuggly & safely over the raised section of back seat :) Civic (sport) is the way to go for a small-medium sized car. Looks like a much more expensive car, love the digital speedo, fully optioned & a very nice, smooth drive. As I had got this car before I was pregnant with my son, when he finally came along, the baby seat does not sit safely in the centre back seat (where it is recommended to put the car seat - I have the Civic Sport 07, so I'm not sure if the other models are raised in the centre seat as well. Having the seat in the centre is very unstable & moves around really easily... The car seat is a good brand, is not at fault and has been installed properly. The problem with moving the seat to one of the rear side seats, is that the car has rear airbags that can cause a lot of harm to the child if in an accident.Similar opinion? In the last 20 years, I have owned 5 cars from 4 different brands and buying the Honda Civic (and the Honda Brand from a support perspective) is the best decision I made. The ownership of Civic has been a positive experience from a driving and servicing perspective.
Great exterior and interior designs, high power outputs matched excellent 5 speeds automatic gearbox that produce good fuel consumption. Luxury, high end and sporty feels. Reliability and good Honda support and service.
Poor visibility due the large A pillor. Average acceleration.

Overall this is the best Civic I have ever driven. Comfort ride, smooth acceleration, good accessories, spacious etc. Forget about Toyota Corolla & Mazda 3, they are just over promoted.
This is my 3rd Honda Civic, and the best Civic ever own! The 8th generation Civic has major improvement compared to previous 2 generations (7th generation was the most disappointing).
Did not achieve 5 star NCAP safety standard. Guess was due to lack of airbags (only 2 airbags).

Good
Good sold car, nice styling, easy to drive, but fuel consumption is a big let down. It's our first automatic and we haven't looked back since! We got a boot tray thrown in which has been great - if you can get it free, it is a worthwhile addition.
Love the easy handling and style of the car. Modern and easy to drive.
Fuel consumption - the fuel consumtpion that Honda promotes with the Civic (we have a 2008 VTI model) did not come close to what they said. Only saving grace is that it uses unleaded (rather than premium unleaded).

One of the best cars we have ever owned. Won't be giving it up for a long time. Just great!
Really good looking car that drives very well for its class. Recently I have been through a series of rental cars including Corolla, Pulsar, Mazda3 and can't believe how uncomfortable they are to drive... and how tinny they feel! My honda is super comfortable and I love it.
Vision over the bonnet is difficult because of the shape.

Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy this Honda Civic model and was wondering if anyone knows if the 2011 model has this engine mount problems that the older models are having?

Has anyone heard intermittent weird noises whilst driving their Civic?
3 answers
How bad is the noise? It could be a number of reasons but do not forget with the age of the vehicle these noises will emerge.
Is it like an intermittent low grinding that only lasts for a few seconds particularly when you’re either idling, about to take off from a red light or reversing down your driveway on a cold morning? That goes away once your car warms up and/or you accelerate? If yes and you’ve got an 8th gen Civic then you’ve got broken engine mounts - particularly the lower right hand mount. Google it, I’ve had about 5 now replaced and still they break, so have by the looks of what’s on google every single 2006-2010 civic owner worldwide. It’s a known design flaw, but don’t bother going to Honda to get it fixed they’ll just tell you you need it replaced but when you go back and back to them saying ummm it’s broken AGAIN and this are your hideously expensive $600 a pop OEM parts you’re gouging me for they’ll just pretend they don’t know why but due to the age of the vehicle its not covered under warranty...interesting how they can still claim that given there’s thousands upon thousands of owners reporting the same fault, I guess it’s all only “anecdotal” however, if the manufacturer doesn’t admit there’s a manufacturing flaw or compelled to provide transparent reporting of data about what problems a specific model and year vehicle is consistently presenting to their service centres then what do you do? Oh...if you were thinking hey maybe I’ll just get a non-OEM but compatible engine mount and fit that that should fix it, with any other part I’d say yeah go for it but not the engine mounts, fit a non-genuine Honda one of these you may find yourself with a bigger issue than just some cracked mounts
Also have the same engine mount issue. (Done 170Kms, Civic VTI-L 1.8 Sedan Manual) 2nd time its happen, but this time is not vibrating the whole interior when cold like it did before. But Honda dealer still says i need it replaced again. But it doesnt vibrate so i didnt bother. Got even bigger problems now though. Cant get it any gear while engine is running. It goes in gear when engine is off, and when i try to start it with it in gear and clutch all the way in, it tries to pull forward. So i think the clutch isnt disengaging when i push the clutch in. And also power steering fluid is leaking. Been leaking for last 6months. Just been topping it off. I think its just a worn O-ring, but still another headache to worry about. Not sure if its even worth fixing at this point. Cost to repair is probably gonna exceed the value of the car...

Our honda 2007 civic's paint is failing in multiple places on the bonnet, roof & a few minor patches on other panels . After reading the usa forums where various models have been recalled for similar problems, i believe it to be a clear coat failure . Our car is always garaged & well maintained . A nice care with a very very poor paont job . Anyone else experienced similar ??

My 2008 Civic has never been garaged and it's paint is still good. Perhaps they changed the formula for mine or yours was a unique case?? Either way I'm not sure if you can do anything about it now, I think paint warranties are very short.
Its unfortunate, because its turned me off buying another honda thats for sure .
