Can this generator operate an amplify of 21amps?

2 answers

Erm, I'm assuming you mean an amplifier capable of drawing 21 Amps of current and it's not a 'class A' amplifier - which is probably isn't. Yes it will work as long as you don't demand too much volume and exceed about 7 amps.

Hi, i have a Honda EU 20 i which performs well in all aspect accept startup. After starting, the engine runs well for perhaps 8 seconds before cutting out with oil alert lamp illuminated. As soon as the lamp is out the motor can be started again and runs for another 8 secs before the oil alert cut the motor again. This can all happen 5 times before the motor runs normally.
The oil level is good and was replaced not long ago by a service centre. The service centre replaced the oil knowing this problem existed before the service so i assume they put the correct oil in the motor.
Can you think of a strategy for overcoming this problem?

Hi Guy, That sounds like a gummed up oil pressure sensor?, but that's outside my experience? I wonder why the Honda service people didn't fix it ?, Try emailing this question to Honda Australia directly, they are always keen to make sure their service people are on the ball.

Hi Gav,
Honda 4 stroke oil in the sump, (change regularly, the cheapest way to protect any engine is to keep the sump oil clean ) and no oil in the unleaded fuel of course
being a 4 stroke engine, the internal lubricant is all from the sump,
when in dought check with your honda supplier for expert answers

5-30 synthetic I think.

A friend of mine has an eu20i that he has had for several years. It developed a problem whereby the choke had to held slightly on for it to work. A service was done to fix that.
Now when it is in idle with little or no load in Eco mode it Revs up and down in pulses of about 2 seconds continuously. What could be wrong?

Hi Neil,
firstly let me say that I'm not an expert, just some one who has a EU20i, so my advise is just from my own experience with mine
normal the service will fix that, I would take it back, or go on line and ask Honda directly

Thanks Geof, the service people were unable to fix this issue. Not sure why. The service was expensive so we are looking for some direction on the issue before we take it to another agent.

Sorry I can't help, I only started mine a couple of times. It never put out any power so I never used it long enough to worry about how many hours it had done. E mail the customer relations person for Honda she might be able to help. Good luck though she never replied to my e mails.

Hi Gary, yes, mine has been aboard my boat for about 6 years and I had the suppliers, spray seal it internally, as well as I use Penetrol on everything to stop corrosion, it's supposed to be able to run something needing 1600 watts, mine isn't doing that any more, still waiting to hear back from the honda dealer as to why

There's a small screw in the bottom of the carby bowl. Unscrew it till fuel comes out the tube and allow it to drain there. When it's time to restart it turn the fuel/engine switch on leave for 5 seconds choke and start. Running it out of fuel won't hurt it but can take hours. This way there is no fuel left in the system only in the tank. If storing for long periods it's also advised by Honda to put a table spoon of oil into the spark plug hole to prevent corrosion of cylinder and piston

How many items can you run off a 20i at the same time?

Short answer is there is 2 outlets, so 2, but it does have power limitations. 1600 watts constant and peak of 2000w some kettles are 2400 watts, so none. On the other hand a couple of hundred mobile phone chargers? No drama

Air cons are the worst for power consumption. You will need a generator to match your aircon. It's a big ask on either generator in my opinion- must be noisy too! ( I've only had the Honda - and it would run hard to boil a 2000 watt kettle, let alone an aircon.)

Hi! I have an eu20i and would like to run an Iron 1000W. Will the eu20i do the job? is there any damage on it in the future?

5 answers

Good day, the eu20 is a 2000 watt machine, so a 1000 watt iron will be okay.
I try and not run my eu20 with a high load for too long, for example a 2000 watt heater, the generator will run it, but I like to have a machine do it easy not work on its limit for hours on end.
So a 1000 watt iron is a easy load for your eu20 with no damage, in this warmer weather you could run a fan as well to keep cool while doing the iron work.
Be aware of things like refrigerators, freezers, electric motors and some air conditioners, the stated power in watts is usually the running power, not the start up power, which can be up to three times the running power, but this draw only lasts for a few seconds then drops back down to the stated running power.
Pheww
Hope this helps.

asalamabdo
asalamabdo

Thank you so much for your help, but the generator gives a loud noisy sound when the Iron is running and back to its natural sound when it stop. Changing in sound of generator doesn't have any effect on its performance in the future.

One more thing, what is the difference between:
Max. Watts: 2000 W
Rat. Watts 240 v/ 50 Hz: 1600 W.

Appreciate your support!

Hello asalamabdo,

My name's Sarah and I work in the Marketing department here at Honda Power Equipment.
2000 watts is the maximum current output.
1600 watts is the rated output, at 1600 watts the unit will happily run all day.
All generators from all manufacturers have a rated current output and a maximum output.
If you require further assistance or require any further information please email, [email protected].

Many thanks,

Sarah

Gday, anything is possible if you have the right gear, you will need to get someone to make one but it will be a very hard job to build, and expensive. I know that Honda do not make a starter to fit/add to the EU20

Thanks,
Toddy.......

Unfortunately all Honda EU20i generators do not come with the option of a starter motor.

'Normal use' is very subjective. Running our family home (excluding hot water heating and stove/oven) we get 10 hours per tank.

Hi Dazza, My name's Sarah and I work in the Marketing department here at Honda Power Equipment.
Your EU20i generator should run for around 10 hours on one tank of fuel, with eco-throttle switched on at 1/4 output.

Long answer short. Its not the ball bearing kind that rolls and catches when pulled. So depending on were it broke will depend on whether or not you need to bring it in. Have you ever deal with a pull retractable cord new style?

Ok i struggling to find info my generator has an issue always ran well started first pull but after long period of no use would not start found in to be flooded also checked oil level and seemed to be way over full so suspect full was flooding it and ending up in oil. So i drain oil and fuel refilled with new oil plus fresh petrol also remove carbi drained cleaned inspect needle and seat seemed to seal well plus flout seemed ok put back together retry started seems to have a small go before flooding again as plug get wet straight away. I have carbi on and off 5 time just can't work out why its flooding? And suggestions?

Eu20i has a very little fuel valve chamber. Needs to be started periodically or bad fuel occurs

TODDY
TODDY

O.K I will have a look at mine to see what system they use, but if it's flooding so bad I would check the needle and the seat with a magnifying glass, you don't need much wear to start a flood situation. Is there a "O" ring around the seat? if so is it hard, slightly cracked, or just leaking due to age, again it wont take much to cause a flood.
Have you checked the float for leaks? some of the very old brass or cork style floats would leak and sink slightly, flooding the engine, the Honda will have a white plastic float so have a look in it or shake it to see if there is fuel in it.
I dont know what carby Honda uses on this genny, but just also check that the fuel bowl goes on the right way, if the bowl goes on wrong it will flood or starve of fuel.

Have another look as the problem will be one of the above, let me know how you get on.

Hi Preston, My name's Sarah and I work in the Marketing department here at Honda Power Equipment.
Without seeing the actual generator it is difficult to speculate what could be going on.
We recommend that you find your closest Honda Power Equipment Dealer using the below link, and take it in for a professional opinion.
