My 25 metre hose needs to be pulled out 10-12 metres to get the water to flow. I have pulled it out and released it under control to no avail. I have also reverse flushed it as per your instructions, with no improvement. what would you suggest?

Hi Bob, thanks for taking the time to ask us a question. Firstly, can you please check that the Flow Controller on the end of the hose is fully open? This is a green fitting with a yellow lever. It controls the flow and can shut off the flow completely so can you firstly please check this is open and allowing the water to flow through? If you have checked this and it is open, can you also please check the hose for any kinks? I would also take off the spray gun and see if any water is flowing through up until that point? Can you also please check to see that there is enough water flowing from the tap? If you have checked all these things and they appear to be fine, then can you please email us a video to [email protected]? Kind Regards, The Hoselink Team

Thank you for your prompt response. My problem was easily resolved after calling your number. Your representative recommended I remove the Hoselink cover near the inlet hose. Upon doing so, I found a kink in the hose. It now works perfectly

Hi Have just purchased a 30 meter hose and need to attach it to the wall of a newly built house made from PGH Commons Facebrick, due to the weight of the house are there any mounting issues? Or should it be fine with the masonary pieces supplied.

Hi Max, thank you for getting in touch! As long as the brick is at least 70mm deep then this will be fine to mount the hose reels on. The wall bracket has been engineered to suit the weight as the hose reel, therefore as long as it is mounted correctly and in deep enough material then it will work fine.

Hi Jarrod, thanks for getting in touch!
You can easily remove the hose end connector, just make sure you use boiling water to do this. If you watch the video on this link it will help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOY7HyWH_C8

Then you can simply cut the hose down and refit the connection. Just make sure that you don't cut the hose too short as you will want a bit of slack for when the hose reel swivels on the bracket!

thanks for your reply - I guess I was wondering if there was a way for the leader to retract inside the reel, instead of having to cut the leader in case I have to move it again in the future and need the additional length. No problem, I think I'll keep the 2m leader as is.
thanks all for your help!

Retractable Hose Reel 3300 Series

Hello I own a hose link and have never had an issue. My friend next door decided to open his up to lubricate (I don’t know why) and it has lost its tension. I have a mechanical background and have worked out there must be a tool,to fit on the small plastic plate to retention. Is this correct and is something like this available. He has recently purchased a new one from you thinking he had broken it. In my world everything is fixable. Can you help with the tool and If I’m correct on that’s how it is tensioned.

Hi Craig, thanks for taking the time to comment regarding the hose reel tension. It should be absolutely fine to re tension and we do have a document showing how you can do this. Retractable Hose Reel 3300 Series

Hi I was given your 30m retractable hose for my birthday in December. My elderly mother lives with me and she finds it extremely difficult to pull out is there a way to make the tension a little less for it to be easier to use?

2 answers

If it was made easier the hose may have problems retracting. Just grab the hose and lean forward as you walk away. Keep the hand piece well oiled at the trigger as it will freeze up and wont switch off. That is the only real problem. I think the main body is made from a sort of aluminum alloy or Britannia metal that corrodes fairy quickly.

Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Terri, thank you for your question. As our retractable hose reels are spring loaded the springs do need to be set quite tight to ensure that the hose reels retract fully. Of course the spring tension should ease over time. However if your mother continues to have problems over the next month or so then please let us know and we can look at getting the hose reel back and reducing the tension but we will only be able to do this a small fraction to ensure the hose continues to retract.

Thanks,
The Hoselink Team

Do Hoselink reels make a groaning noise when the hose is pulled out?

4 answers
Northern angler
Northern angler

Yes they do make a few noises when you pull out the hose. Remember the spring system is quite strong especially with the longer hoses. I have never had them retract by them selves like some others. The hand piece still needs some work in my opinion. The weekly dose of oil seems to keep it operational but such a pain having to do it every week or so.

Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Karl, happy new year!

Not something we generally have any problems with, the only noise you will hear when pulling the hose out is the clicking noises from the locking system.
However overtime the lubrication can wash away from the o'rings located on the leader hose which are super easy to re-lubricate you just need a parting tool to remove the circlip and that's it!

Thanks, The Hoselink Team

Hi. Yes it does make a groaning noise when extended out. My issue is the faulty seals that came with the spraygun and the followup service and support Hoselink seem to lack in. I am not happy with this product. Nor am I happy with the way Hoselink react when there is a problem. Will not be recommending their products yo anyone. Cheers Robere

Hi Ron, Happy new year!

Thank you for your question - you can mount the hose reel onto hebel as long as it is at least 70mm deep to accommodate the screws we provide with the hose reel setup. If you find that the hebel is not deep enough then we recommend putting a timber backing plate between the bracket and hebel surface to provide a more stable fixture.

Hi Mary-Lou and happy new year!

Thank you for your question - unfortunately at this stage we don't have any mounting poles available but this is something we have been looking into therefore we should hopefully have something suitable in the near future.

At this stage your best option would be to use a timber post which is at least 110mm wide and 70mm deep to accommodate the screws for our wall bracket.

Hi Louisa, this hasn't happened to us so can't speak from experience but there is a reasonably detailed PDF guide on the Hoselink website that gives some options to resolve retraction issues: https://www.hoselink.com.au/assets/files/hose-reel-retraction-issues.pdf

You may have already been through the PDF in which case probably best to contact Hoselink directly but if it's new information then it might be helpful.

I haven't experienced this problem yet but I think pulling out the hose again and letting it retract should do the trick. Also, when retracting, you might want to make sure that the hose is leveled or slightly higher than the housing to avoid engaging the automatic lock.

Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

HI Louisa, thank you for getting in touch! Sorry you are experiencing issues with your hose reel not retracting fully.

If you haven't been through the troubleshooting yet, we would recommend calling our team on 1300 900 617 whilst you are standing by the hose reel and then we can run through a few steps and work out what the problem is.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon. The Hoselink Team

We have a 30m retractable hose reel purchased in 2014 which now only rewinds half of the hose. Is it possible to retension the spring to wind fully?

1 answer
Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Good morning, thank you for your question.

You can definitely re-tension the hose, however we will need to work out which model you have first as we have had a range of different designs over the years and they all work with slightly different tension systems. Therefore if you could email our customer care team on [email protected] with the full name and address the original purchase was made under, they will be able to bring up the order history and advise you correctly.

Why does comes to much sound of hose reel and why are vibration in hose reel cabinet. why reduce flow pressure repeatidy. thanks

1 answer
Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Sanjay, thank you for getting in touch. The clicking sounds coming from the hose reel are the locking system, every time the system clicks it will lock into place. I would recommend that you always walk the hose reel back into the casing, should the hose retract too quickly then this could cause pressure on the spring which could create the vibrating noise you are referring to.

We have not put any pressure reducers inside our hose reels. With any hose reel you will find that there is a drop in pressure, this happens due to the way the water has to flow through the system, it is not just a straight hose coming off the tap. This is exactly why we have brought out our hi-flow hose reel which has a slightly larger diametre hose and allows more water to flow through at one time. We would recommend purchasing this unit should you use water tanks with or without pumps or have average - low water pressure.

If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our customer care team on 1300 900 617. Thank you, The Hoselink Team

Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Carol, thank you for taking the time to ask us a question. This definitely does not sound right, you shouldn't be getting any dripping from the gun. We would recommend just unscrewing the face to check to see if there is anything caught inside the front? If there is some dirt or debris in the face this could definitely be causing the water to escape wherever there is a gap! Also there is a washer behind the face which could be damaged. If you could double check on the above and let us know how you get on, that would be great. Kind Regards, The Hoselink Team

The hose has kinked and therefore will not pull through. Can i unscrew the side panel to straighten it out? Hoselink 25m auto rewind

1 answer
Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi there, thank you for your question. Definitely do not unscrew the casing, this will let the spring go which will cause a whole new issue. To get the hose out of the casing, please follow the steps below: 1) Pull the hose out as far as you can until you get to the twisted part. 2) Put one hand on the casing of the hose reel for support (just so you don't pull the unit off the bracket). 3) Put your other hand around the hose and try a couple short, sharp tugs. This should apply enough force to pull the hose out past the twist. Once you have pulled past the twist, please continue to pull the remaining hose out of the casing and then retract by walking the hose back in just so you can make sure that the hose layers correctly. If after trying this, you are still having issues please contact our customer service team. Kind Regards, The Hoselink Team

My hose link hose locks really good. What I do is I pull the to the length I want and last I pull the hose in a slight angle and hose reel locks. Then I start watering.

Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Kath, thank you for your question. We are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues trying to get your hose reel to lock into place. The trick is to pull the required length of hose out and then each time the unit clicks it will lock into place. However you will need to allow the hose to rewind slightly so that the hose can catch into place. If you are still experiencing issues after trying this, please contact our customer service team as they will be able to advise you further. Kind Regards, The Hoselink Team
