Hi there, I have 3 of your hosereels and love them except for one thing! The water that comes from them when they are first turned on really smells! It goes away once the water flows for about 20-30 secs and is then fine. I have another generic brand of hosereel connected to the same water supply and it is fine, doesn't smell at all. I also noticed another person saying the same thing on this site but there was no response from you... Do you have any idea on what it could be and how to fix it? Thanks in advance, Craig

Hoselink is a 100% Australian Family Owned and Operated Company, with Australian designed fittings. As a company, originally we did manufacture all our fittings in Australia, however, we were forced to move to China when our manufacturer was no longer able to produce Hoselink fittings for us. We do feel this matter to be a major disappointment to us all, but with our smaller order volumes, we could not stay competitive in the Australian market if we had of continued manufacturing in Australia. We hope that one day we might be able to bring some of our manufacturing back to Australia.

We have a 30m retractable reel which was purchased recently -it’s been great and we also have the sprinkler. The water pressure is significantly less than our previous el cheap hose and when we put the sprinkler on it has hardly any coverage .
Our mains pressure is great and the tap we are using has great pressure too.
What can we do to get better pressure as they aren’t cheap items and we purchased 3 different length reels, we haven’t connected the others yet.

Thank you for getting in tough and I am sorry to hear that the water pressure has dropped off.
There can be a little drop in pressure with the reels due to all of the twists and turns the water has to run through. This is slightly more common with the 30m due to its length and shouldn't be an issue with the shorter reels. If you have good water pressure like yours though this drop in pressure would not even be noticeable.
The first thing I would check is to make sure the yellow flow control on the end of the hose is open all the way.
I would also take the spray gun off to make see if it is an issue with the gun.

The belt for the hose guide is loose so the guide doesn't move and the hose bunches up to the right, from what I can see the belt is in the correct place. My Hoselink is about 9yrs of use.

Hi Michael,
Thank you for getting in touch. There is nothing on the outside that gives the length. You can pop the grey side cover off on the right hand side of the reel, the one that says Hoselink on it. Under this there is a black disk that has a serial number ion it. The last two digits of the serial number will be the length of reel.

Hello I have a 30 mt retractable hose and it has stopped retracting so I went onto your site to troubleshoot... move the belt with teeth over to reset the reel as instructed but when I went to put it back onto the cogs it ... FLIPPED... then I saw with dismay the note which said ... take care not to flip the belt ... I have trip and tried to un flip it without success and I see that you do not advise taking the housing apart because of the spring .... what do I do the reel is stuck in one position and I cannot retract at all

Hi Carol. Hoselink review this site regularly and may probably offer suggestions if no one else can assist you. Have 2 units but never undone either. Quite dissapointed as both units have faults in not retracting correctly. Good Luck.

I have just installed a 30 metre hose reel. The inlet hose is connected to a 19mm Pipe where there is plenty of pressure However once the water has pasted through the Hansen hose reel there is a big pressure drop barely enough to work a sprinkler properly

I think the feeder assembly is jammed as the hose will pull out and retract but there's a clicking noise of the belt riding over the teeth (belt moves, feeder pinion doesn't) this happened as the hose retracted too fast. Any ideas?

I am having trouble retracting the hose into the reel. The runner which used to run across back and forth appears to stick on the right hand side which causes the hose to jam. It appears a ratchet system has come off.

Realise now that the cog that the belt runs on has broken off. The retractable hose reel was purchased January 2014 so have had a good run and another I purchased in October 2015 is still going well.
